  • XenServer 6.2 crashes everytime I try to install a new Windows 7 x64 vm

    I'm running XenServer 6.2 with all patches and updates on two boxes. One box is an intel core i7 2600K.. works great. My latest box is an AMD A10 APU.. and everytime I try to install Windows 7 OS as a guest.. I get to the screen where Windows files start to expand, and suddenly the entire box freezes up. Is there a log I can check, and or a way to migrate a working Windows 7 image I created on Box 1 over to Box 2?

  • Windows 7 Ultimate x64 / Safari / Downloads disappear

    Running Safari 4.0.5. When I download a file, it never appears in the download folder. If I pause the download I get the xxxxxx.xxx.download temp file to show up. When I then resume the download, it will finish, but will never rename the file to xxxxx.xxx. I've heard from some other posts that AV seems to have a hand in it, but I'm running clamwin av which doesn't have an in memory av process. What should I do?

    Trying to get my IIS 7.5 playing nice with VS 2008 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I'm getting this error: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. This happens when accessing a virtual directory outside C:\inetpub\wwwroot. I'd like to be able to create virtual directories outside the root if I can. I've added the NETWORK SERVICE to the folder hosting the virtual directory, still no luck. This folder is on my C: drive, not a share. TIA

  • iTunes sees my iPhone, but Windows 7 x64 doesn't

    After reinstalling Windows 7 (64-bit), it has stopped recognizing my iPhone. I can see it in iTunes but not in Windows Explorer, so I can't get the photos off. I'm having this problem on three different machines and two different iPhones (my wife's and mine). It's maddening. I've had every version of iPhone since it first came out and I've never had this problem before. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes (currently at 10.2.1.1). I've updated iOS on the phone (currently at 4.3).     Hi, I'm trying to make an RPM with PHP 5.3.1 and PHP-FPM 0.6 for CentOS 5.4. I have however specified the BuildRoot in the header of the spec file and I can see it is passed correctly to the make install command. Does anyone have some idea of what is going wrong here?     Restoring Windows 2008 Server (Domain Controller) We are using Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 to Image our DC. Now this software has a feature to convert the backup into a vmware or hyper-v VM I have also used disk2vhd to convert one of our dc's to a vhd and when I connected it into Hyper-V, it booted fine, I can login - BUT :-) As soon as I login, I get the activation error, that change product key, this product key isn't good for this machine etc. Question is : When in a real recovery situation, what would be the procedure to restore it either virtual or onto a physical box but be able to login and change product key etc ? In this scenario its just locked down and I cant' do anything, if this is the case, how would I replicate my production environment via these tools ? Any Ideas ? Will be grateful for some real world examples here. Same thing happens with our exchange backup / test restore either physical or virtual, can login but nothing else. Now we don't have the keys as they are OEM keys and just wondering what will happen in a real scenario, would we be purchasing another KEY or using the OEM key on our new server ? This is a test environment I am trying to create by restoring our backups either into hyper-v or physical test machines. Also, If I build up a machine (Server 2008) in a VM (Hyper-V), How can I restore just the system state backup of my DC into it ? will that give me the activation error too ? even though I would use the TRIAL ISOs provided by Microsoft ?   • Logout trouble with alternative shells (Win7 Home Premium x64)

    I've tried bb4win and Litestep, and every time I need to log out for some reason (shutdown and all included), the system hangs and the spinning icon next to the "Logging out" text stops spinning. Changing the shell in registry for both local machine and current user causes this behavior. Any ideas on what might cause this? Alternatvely, what steps can I take to figure out what is going wrong? In Linux, you are able to open things in a framebuffer and examine the output, but with Windows it is not so clear to me how to see what is happening under the hood, especially with this Home Premuim version. Update: Since logging out normally to switch the shell back to Explorer doesn't work normally, I have to end Litestep first. However, when I do so, an Explorer navigation window pops up (not the taskbar). This also occurs with bb4win.

Simply put, when I load the program I immediately get the error "Pinta Has Stopped Working". I have tried: Running as administrator Installing to different partitions Installing to folders with no spaces in directory structure I have installed the GTK# for .Net 2.12.9 as required in order to install Pinta.     I've upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 (64bit) and I found that the very convenient Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall will not work on this version. I hear the Windows 7 firewall is good enough(even though it never prompts for outbound connections) but Kerio had a nice network monitor feature which showed all applications with inbound and outbound connections and the current speed and bytes transferred for each one. Is there any software out there that can give me similar monitoring as what Kerio does? TCPView is almost as good, but doesnt show transfer statistics.

  • Configuring a MySQL 5.1 Instance on Windows 7 Professional x64 Fails

    I'm trying to set up my laptops to function as mobile development environments. Installing the software on my Linux machine and getting it configured was fairly straightforward, however I'm having trouble getting MySQL 5.1 Server installed and configured on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I'm currently using the Windows MSI Installer for the complete MySQL 5.1 system (as opposed to the Essentials installer also available). I've tried to install using both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of MySQL 5.1 - the same events occur in both. I've installed both the Server Instance Configuration Wizard and Workbench and everything appears to be installed just fine. When I open the Instance Configuration Wizard, I select Detailed Configuration. On the next screen, I select Development Environment, then Multifunctional Database on the next screen. I leave the InnoDB settings unchanged. I select Manual Setting with 5 concurrent connections. I enable TCP/IP Networking on Port 3306 and Enable Strict Mode. I select the Standard Character Set. I check the boxes for Install as a Windows Service (and provide the name "MySQL") and Include the Bin Directory in Windows PATH. On the next screen, I set my root user name and password. I do not enable root access from remote machines and I also do not create an anonymous account. On the final screen of the wizard, when I click "Execute", the first two tasks (Prepare Configuration and Write Configuration File) complete. However, when it reaches Start Service, the wizard hangs and becomes unresponsive ("Not Responding" appears in the title bar and Task Manager). I would really like to be able to use both my Windows and Linux laptops as full-blown mobile development environments, but I can't do that without being able to run MySQL. Has anyone encountered this problem before? What options do I have to correct it?

  • Win 7 x64 explorer.exe stops responding on copy/paste

    Few months ago I changed my Win7 orb using this software. But it changed only the explorer.exe in C:\Windows. To solve that, I copied explorer.exe from there to C:\Windows\system32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (Probably a bad idea). Things were working fine until a few days ago, it started giving me problems while copying. Sometimes, when I copy/paste, It works fine but sometimes it stays on that dialog box which looks like it is doing pre-copying things like counting number of files/file size etc. But its not. It stays on that screen forever. Now if I try to close it, title changes to cancelling but rest stays the same. If I try to close it too many times, explorer.exe crashes. And its not related to file-size. It may crash for 4Mb file and work fine for 10Gb file but some other time, it'll do the opposite. Is there any way to reset my explorer.exe and Is this because of explorer.exe or something else PS: I forgot to take backup of explorer.exe. PS2: I didn't install any software or downloaded anything that could harm my computer. EDIT I tried System Restore and SFC /scannow but they didn't help.

    Just trying to understand why I'm seeing what I'm seeing on this system. Pagefile performance counters are telling me i'm @ about 1.5% used with my page file, settings for the file are 2GB-4GB, but task manager was showing 13GB usage: Oddly enough, it just sunk down: This machine has IBM DB2 9.5 workgroup edition running on it. Thoughts??? Actually, just learned the developer had just stopped DB2, hence the huge drop, just not understand the difference in the PF usage in task manager vs perf counters?

  • Windows 7 x64 Hard Freezing (again)

    Awhile ago, my computer was randomly freezing a few minutes after booting, and I ended up replacing the CPU and mobo after testing the RAM and hard drive, I also couldn't find anything wrong with the video card. So after replacing the presumably faulty hardware, everything worked fine for about a month and a half. All of a sudden, My computer is randomly freezing a few minutes after loading up any intensive application (games, mostly). Most of the time it just freezes with the current frame until I hard reset, although once it printed a BSOD message stating that dxgmms1.sys was to blame. The only difference between these two episodes I can think of is that I can do word/internet/work without issue now, as opposed to the near uselessness my computer was rendered last time. For those of you who want to know, I tested my memory with memtest86 (for 64 bit machines). I can't figure out what could have started this latest round of issues, the event logger just states that a kernel-power event has occurred (like last time) but I think thats just a generic "this machine has rebooted after a sudden shutdown" message.

  • Ubuntu Server Edition (Jaunty) x64 Segmentation faults in PHP mysql package

    I've been running Jaunty with Apache2, PHP & MySQL running drupal websites as well as python 2.6 and trac on the same server. I'm getting quite a few segmentation faults and suhosin warnings on my drupal websites which don't seem to be related to the amount of RAM the server has (3GB) as the trac site is running happily without issues. The issue seems to be related to PHP accessing mysql and I'm getting suhosin warnings. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Funnily enough, it's not a consistent error, as restarts tend to fix the issue temporarily.
