  Hello, I'd like to get the value of the id column for an object just after I've created it. But I don't want to run another query for that. My book for beginner (SQL Server 2008 for Dummies) says that there are 2 tables (inserted and deleted) that hold the last row(s) that have been inserted, updated, or deleted. Unfortunately, only Triggers (says the book) can access those tables. But, if I use triggers, they will go off each time I "insert" a row even when I don't need them that functionality. Can I obtain the same effect with a Store Procedure (without having to run a separate query?)   Hi, I have two tables - 'business' and 'business_contacts'. The business_contact table has a many-to-one relationship with the business table. Furthermore, each business has a 'primary contact' field - which I'd assume is a one-to-many relationship with the business_contacts table. The problem, of course, is that this creates a catch-22 for data insertion. Since neither field can be null, I can't insert a business_contact until I have a corresponding business, but I can't insert a business until I have a corresponding business_contact. If anyone could help me get my head around how mutual one-to-many relationships are supposed to be dealt with I'd be most appreciative. (Project being done in MySQL if it makes any difference)

• Sql Server XML-type column duplicate entry detection

  In Sql Server I am using an XML type column to store a message. I do not want to store duplicate messages. I only will have a few messages per user. I am currently querying the table for these messages, converting the XML to string in my C# code. I then compare the strings with what I am about to insert. Unfortunately, Sql Server pretty-prints the data in the XML typed fields. What you store into the database is not necessarily exactly the same string as what you get back out later. It is functionally equivalent, but may have white space removed, etc. Is there an efficient way to compare an XML string that I am considering inserting with those that are already in the database? As an aside, if I detect a duplicate I need to delete the older message then insert the replacement.

• Hacking "Contact Form 7" code to Add A "Referred By" field

  I've got about 6 subdomains that have a "contact us" link and I'm sending all these links to a single form that uses "Contact Form 7". I add ?from=site-name to each of the links so that I can set a $referredFrom variable in the contact form. The only two things I'm missing are (1) the ability to insert this referredFrom variable into the email that I get whenever someone submits the form and (2) The ability to redirect the user back to the site they came from (stored in $referredFrom) Any ideas? This blog application has Views like "Insert Post", "Edit Post", etc. I need to post a string containing HTML back to the appropriate controller method. That HTML value is being posted from a textarea. I've read that it's necessary to disable ValidateRequest directly on the page with the attribute ValidateRequest = "false" or in the web.config file. When I insert an HTML value in my textarea, I get always the error of 'potential value dangerous'. How can I use ValidateRequest to allow the form element containing HTML values to be posted?
