• Registering NUnit DynamicMock Instances in a UnityContainer

  I'm somewhat new to Unity and dependency injection. I'm trying to write a unit test that goes something like this: [Test] public void Test() { UnityContainer container = new UnityContainer(); DynamicMock myMock = new DynamicMock(typeof(IMyInterface)); container.RegisterInstance(typeof(IMyInterface), myMock.MockInstance); //Error here // Continue unit test... } When this test executes, the container throws an ArgumentNullException inside the RegisterInstance method with the message Value cannot be null. Parameter name: assignmentValueType. The top line of the stack trace is at Microsoft.Practices.Unity.Utility.Guard.TypeIsAssignable(Type assignmentTargetType, Type assignmentValueType, String argumentName). Why can't I register a MockInstance with the UnityContainer, and how do I work around this?

  The Ninject initialization works fine when i run my application directly from VS2010, but if I deploy the application to our custom "plugin" environment I get this error when I run the app and it tries to initialize Ninject.   Every once in a while I get about 10 - 20 identical errors on my asp.net app. It's always the same, and I'm wondering if it is someone trying to hack in (it happens about once a month). • In JQuery 1.4.2 .ajax converts JSON wrong.

  My code worked fine in JQuery 1.3.2, but in 1.4.2 it seems to be broken. What is should get in the post is something like this: ?pks=108;pks=107 What I now get is: ?pks[]=108;pks[]=107; When I trace this code through, the JSON object seems to be fine until it enters .ajax. Firebug after the response is received shows the post was: Parameters application/x-www-form-urlencoded pks[] 108 pks[] 107 Source pks%5B%5D=108&pks%5B%5D=107 Which is not what I got on JQuery 1.3.2. Where are those extra braces coming from?

• Google App Engine - Calling getSession().invalidate(); causes app engine to act weird.

  When I call hreq.getSession().invalidate(); app engine slows down tremendously. I looked at appstats and saw that on a page where no database calls are made, it was calling memcache.get and datastore.get 23 times each. The stack trace of these calls showed that it was being called from getSession(). This only happens on the production server. Every time I make a request to a page, it makes a bunch of memcache and datastore calls. This slow down goes away though when i restart my browser. When I changed the code to simply set the isLoggedIn property of the session to false, rather than calling hreq.getSession().invalidate();, everything was fine. As a test, I didn't invalidate my session, but I changed the value of my browser's session cookie, and the app engine exhibited the same behavior. Is this a bug with the app engine?

• Is it possible for competing file access to cause deadlock in Java?

  I'm chasing a production bug that's intermittent enough to be a real bastich to diagnose properly but frequent enough to be a legitimate nuisance for our customers. While I'm waiting for it to happen again on a machine set to spam the logfile with trace output, I'm trying to come up with a theory on what it could be. Is there any way for competing file read/writes to create what amounts to a deadlock condition? For instance, let's say I have Thread A that occasionally writes to config.xml, and Thread B that occasionally reads from it. Is there a set of circumstances that would cause Thread B to prevent Thread A from proceeding? My thanks in advance to anybody who helps with this theoretical fishing expedition. Edit: To answer Pyrolistical's questions: the code isn't using Filelock, and is running on a WinXP machine.

• Reversed Latitude/Longitude US Tiger/Line Shape File to MySQL w/ OGR2OGRP

  Hi - I've downloaded the latest set (2010) of TIGER edge shape files (ESRI shapefile format) from the US Census website and am loading them into MySQL using the GDAL ogr2ogr utility. A new table (geotest) does get created with a SHAPE column that has the geometry defined as a LINESTRING. However, I am seeing reversed latitude and longitude values that get reversed when running the following command: ogr2ogr -f "MySQL" MySQL:"geo,user=lejeuned,host=localhost,password=cnickl234" -nln geotest -nlt LINESTRING -append -a_srs "EPSG:4326" -lco engine=MYISAM tl_2010_01021_edges.shp Mapping the latitude/longitude (after reversing them of course) they appear to be spot on so I suspect there is just something I am doing wrong or flag I am missing which is causing the latitude and longitudes to be transposed. When I select the SHAPE column using astext() I get the following result: LINESTRING(-86.69863 32.973164,-86.69853 32.97302,-86.69856 32.97287,-86.698613 32.972825,-86.6988 32.972825,-86.6989 32.972892,-86.6989 32.973002,-86.69874 32.97316,-86.69864 32.97318,-86.69863 32.973164) Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

• A device specific alpha bitmap fails after switching resolutions in remote desktop

  All my alpha bitmaps, created using CreateCompatibleBitmap(..), start to receive an error code 87 after someone signs in with Remote Desktop. I am assuming that this is because the resolution changed and I am using a device specific bitmap. I am wondering what the best route is to fix this issue without migrating to a device independent bitmap? Some options are: 1) Detect remote desktop change and flag all bitmaps to be reloaded (I have done this but it does not work as well as I would like). 2) Wait for error code 87 to happen on an alphablend image that previously worked, and then reload it (was going to try this next, im sure it will work, but a little hacky) 3) Detect random event such as WM_DISPLAYCHANGE or _ that tells me when I should do this (ie: a device change event I'm guessing, or maybe something more specific?) 4) _? • VS C++ throwing divide by zero exception after a specific check

  In the following C++ code, it should be impossible for ain integer division by zero to occur: // gradedUnits and totalGrades are both of type int if (gradedUnits == 0) { return 0; } else { return totalGrades/gradedUnits; //call stack points to this line } however Visual Studio is popping up this error: Unhandled exception at 0x001712c0 in DSA_asgn1.exe: 0xC0000094: Integer division by zero. And the stack trace points to the line indicated in the code. It seems like VS might just do this with any integer division, without checking whether a divide by zero is possible. Do I need to catch this exception even though the code should never be able to throw it? If so, what's the best way to go about this? This is for an assignment that specifies VS 2005/2008 with C++. I would prefer not to make things more complicated than I need to, but at the same time I like to do things properly where possible.

• OpenCV, Python (ctypes), and OS X 10.5: dylib errors/confusion

  I have tried two brands of ctypes (ctypes-opencv and another) wrappers for OpenCV (2.0 from svn head), can use Python and OpenCV in the Python console, but whenever I try to import the packages (from ctypes_opencv import *) from another Python file, I get the following error message: OSError: dlopen(/usr/local/lib/libcv.dylib, 6): Symbol not found: __ZN2cv10fastMallocEm Referenced from: /usr/local/lib/libcv.dylib Expected in: flat namespace And some more Python errors: module body in __init__.py at line 18 from ctypes_opencv.cxcore import * module body in cxcore.py at line 80 _cxDLL, _cvDLL, _hgDLL = detect_opencv() function detect_opencv in cxcore.py at line 59 cvDLL = cdll.LoadLibrary(find_lib('cv')) function LoadLibrary in __init__.py at line 431 return self._dlltype(name) function __init__ in __init__.py at line 353 self._handle = _dlopen(self._name, mode) I most recently built OpenCV using flags the ctypes_opencv wiki recommended: ENABLE_SSE(2) OFF and BUILD_NEW_PYTHON_SUPPORT OFF. • Erlang: How to view output of io:format/2 calls in processes spawned on remote nodes.

  Hello, I am working on a decentralized Erlang application. I am currently working on a single PC and creating multiple nodes by initializing erl with the -sname flag. When I spawn a process using spawn/4 on its home node, I can see output generated by calls io:format/2 within that process in its home erl instance. When I spawn a process remotely by using spawn/4 in combination with register_name, output of io:format/2 is sometimes redirected back to the erl instance where the remote spawn/4 call was made, and sometimes remains completely invisible. Similarly, when I use rpc:call/4, output of io:format/2 calls is redirected back to the erl instance where the `rpc:call/4' call is made. How do you get a process to emit debugging output back to its parent erl instance?

  I have a before_create filter that checks if people are posting too many comments. If they are I want to flag their account. class Comment < ActiveRecord::Base before_create :check_rate_limit def check_rate_limit comments_in_last_minute = self.user.comments.count(:conditions => ["comments.created_at > ?", 1.minute.ago]) if comments_in_last_minute > 2 user.update_attribute :status, "suspended" return false end true end end The before filter returns false to stop the comment from being created. The problem is that this triggers a ROLLBACK which also undoes the changes I made to the user model. What's the correct pattern to accomplish this? Specifically: running a check each time an object is created and being able to edit another model if the check fails.

• emacs23 pops up debugger way too frequently

  Since I've upgraded to Ubuntu lucid and emacs23, Emacs pops up the debugger in situations, where emacs22 does not. For example, when hitting C-c C-c in org-mode, emacs22 simply states can do nothing useful at this location, whereas in emacs23 the debugger shows up. Debugger entered--Lisp error: (error "C-c C-c can do nothing useful at this location") signal(error ("C-c C-c can do nothing useful at this location")) error("C-c C-c can do nothing useful at this location") org-ctrl-c-ctrl-c(nil) call-interactively(org-ctrl-c-ctrl-c nil nil) That only illustrates the pattern -- the behavior is not limited to org-mode. Occurring every 3 minutes, it really annoys me. How can I prevent it? I've already tried to stop this using debug-on-error and stack-trace-on-error: it didn't work.

• ProcessCmdKey - wait for KeyUp?

  Hi, I'm having the following issue in a WinForms app. I'm trying to implement Hotkeys and I need to process Key messages whenever the control is active, no matter if the focus is on a textbox within that control, etc. Overriding ProcessCmdKey works beautifully for this and does exactly what I want with one exception: If a user presses a key and keeps it pressed, ProcessCmdKey keeps triggering WM_KEYDOWN events. However, what I want to achieve is that the user has to release the button again before another hotkey action would trigger (so, if someone sits on the keyboard it would not cause continuous hotkey events). However, I can't find where to catch WM_KEYUP events, so I can set a flag if it should process ProcessCmdKey messages again? Anyone can help out here? Thanks, Tom

• Automatically render changed partials in webby

  I have a webby page and I'm have a layout that all my pages are rendered to. That layout uses a partial for navigation (in HAML): = render(:partial => "navigation", :locals => {:some => "stuff"} ) The problem is that when I change the _navigation partial, neither webby nor webby autobuild recognize the change and they don't re-render the pages. I've solved this by setting the dirty: true flag in the layout, but that makes all the pages re-render every time -- even when nothing changed. I know that this is not that big a deal, but still: is there a way so that when you change partial, webby recognizes this and renders only the affected pages (as it does with everything else)?

• Is .net 4.0 really not capable of sending emails with attachments larger than 3MB's

  I recently had an issue after upgrading my .net framework to 4.0 from 3.5, I did this because in 4.0 the SMTPClient finally sends a QUIT command to the SMTP server. • Facebook Javascript SDK: First time logging in

  I'm currently integrating Facebook with my website using the Javascript SDK. I've got the login portion working well. The only thing I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way to tell if it was the first time the user logged into my website using their Facebook credientials. I tried subscribing to auth.login, but that didn't seem to have any information about that. Is there a flag anywhere that lets me know this? Or another way to go about looking this up? I realize I could do some server side code, but I'd prefer to stay away from that if possible. Thanks in advance, Brandon

So there are times when I want the command window to not show up and times when I want it to stay open so that the user can see what happened, possibly respond with the appropriate input.   I have a textField on my stage named 'adBuy', which when clicked I want to open up my browser with the defined in URL request. However when I click on the 'adBuy' textField on my SWF it opens Coda, the piece of software I'm using to write this small piece of code? I am puzzled.
