  • What's an appropriate HTTP status code to return by a REST API service for a validation failure?

    I'm currently returning 401 Unauthorized whenever I encounter a validation failure in my Django/Piston based REST API application. Having had a look at the HTTP Status Code Registry I'm not convinced that this is an appropriate code for a validation failure, what do y'all recommend? 400 Bad Request 401 Unauthorized 403 Forbidden 405 Method Not Allowed 406 Not Acceptable 412 Precondition Failed 417 Expectation Failed 422 Unprocessable Entity 424 Failed Dependency Update: "Validation failure" above means an application level data validation failure ie. incorrectly specified datetime, bogus email address etc.

  • BroadcastReceiver not reading stored value from SharedPreferences

    In my app I have a broadcast receiver that turns on GPS upon receiving a set string of text. In the onLocationChanged method, I want to pass the GPS data and a value from my shared preferences to a thread in a string. I have the thread writing to log and can see all the GPS values in the string but the last value from my shared preferences is just showing up as 'prefPhoneNum' which I initialised the string to at the beginning of the receiver class.   • exception message getting lost in IIOP between glassfish domains

    I'm running two glassfish v2 domains containing stateless session EJBs. In a few cases, an EJB in one domain has to call one in the other. My problem is that when the called EJB aborts with an exception, the caller does not receive the message of the exception and instead reports an internal error that is not helpful at all in diagnosing the problem. What happens seems to be this: At the transport layer, a org.omg.CORBA.portable.ApplicationException is created,which already loses all detail information about the exception except its class.   • How do I use the Windows API Code Pack in VB.net 2010 Express?

    Hi all, I recently downloaded the Windows API code pack for .net, and seeing there was VB.net examples inside there, I opened them up. Upon building I get a warning that the referenced components 'Core' and 'Shell' could not be found. Looking in the code pack folder I see there are no DLLs at all, but instead a whole load of C# sources. Do I have to download C# Express (which I want to avoid) to use the code pack or are there precompiled DLLs somewhere?

    Hi, When I run my seam application I get the following error Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class org.jboss.seam.servlet.SeamListener java.lang.IllegalStateException: Two components with the same name and precedence - component name: wizardController, component classes: package.WizardController, package.WizardController at org.jboss.seam.init.Initialization.addComponentDescriptor(Initialization.java:543) at org.jboss.seam.init.Initialization.installScannedComponentAndRoles(Initialization.java:809) at org.jboss.seam.init.Initialization.scanForComponents(Initialization.java:756) at org.jboss.seam.init.Initialization.init(Initialization.java:629) at org.jboss.seam.servlet.SeamListener.contextInitialized(SeamListener.java:35) I am not able to resolve this problem.

    we will develop a web site that will have some free services and we want to make it as a framework that can any build application over it or can use its api in their site .. Could any lead me in how to start it , what's the better architecture and design pattern help in that , is there any resources discuss or explain how to do like this ? FYI : we are dot net developers but we can learn any other if its urgently needed in such a solution

    I've decided to move all the mail accounts in my domain to Google Apps: Is there a subtle migration tool that can make the transition painless, since I want all the mail history and folders to be intact. I'm also looking to duplicate the user provisioning API with Google Apps Users alternative. Are my goals realistic? Are there any tools out there that already make this task simpler?
