• Bridging 10GbE with 12.04 - bridging works but the bridging computer has no internet access

  I have been trying to get 12.04 bridging working with two 10GbE cards. I have 2 10GbE cards in a linux box being used only for this bridge, 1 with 2 10GbaseT ports and another with a single CX4 port. I have 2 client computers connected with 10GbaseT cards and the CX4 card connects to a procurve switch. I can get the bridging happening mostly the way that I want, The clients receive dhcp information from the dhcp server (not the bridging machine) and can connect to and properly see the rest of the network. Speeds are ok, not amazing but working on that is another matter. My problem is that the bridging machine has no internet access ... meaning I can't update anything or apt-get anything It can ping all other machines on the local network. I've tried the helpful hints from: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NetworkConnectionBridge "Enabling Internet Use on the Bridging Computer" and get the following RTNETLINK answers: File exists but dhclient br0 does nothing for me :( I think if it is anything it a multiple route problem as both br0 and eth4 have ipaddresses ... even though I have only set it up so that br0 has one ... • Dell PowerEdge R720 - Corrupted RAID

  Apologies in advance for the lengthy question. We have a Dell PowerEdge R720 server with: 2 x 136GB SAS drives in RAID 1 for the OS (Ubuntu Server 12.04) 6 x 3TB SATA drives in RAID 5 for data A few days ago we were getting errors when trying to access files on the large RAID 5 partition. We rebooted the server and got a message about the raid controller has found a foriegn config. We've had this before, and just needed to use Dell's RAID configuration utility to import foreign config on the RAID. Last time this worked, but this time, it started doing a disk check then we got this: FSCK has returned the following: "/dev/sdb1 inode 364738 has a bad extended attribute block 7 /dev/sdb1 unexpected inconsistency run fsck manually (i.e without -a or -p options) MOUNTALL fsck /ourdatapartition [1019] terminated with status 4 MOUNTALL filesystem has errors /ourdatapartition errors where found while checking the disk drive for /ourdatapartition Press F to fix errors, I to Ignore or M for Manual Recovery" We pressed F to try and fix the errors, but it eventually errored with: Inode 275841084, i_blocks is 167080, should be 0. Fix? yes Inode 275841141 has an invalid extend node (blk 2206761006, lblk 0) Clear? yes Inode 275841141, i_blocks is 227872, should be 0. Fix? yes Inode 275842303 has an invalid extend node (blk 2206760975, lblk 0) Clear? yes .... Error storing directory block information (inode=275906766, block=0, num=2699516178): Memory allocation failed /dev/sdb1: ***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***** e2fsck: aborted /dev/sdb1: ***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***** mountall: fsck /ourdatapartition [1286] terminated with status 9 mountall: Unrecoverable fsck error: /ourdatapartition We noticed one of the drive lights was not lit at all, and thought this may have failed and be the problem. We replaced the drive with a spare, and tried "F" to repair it again, but we keep just getting the same error as above. In the RAID configuration utility, all drives show as "online" and "optimal". We do have this data on another replicated server, so we're not worried about "recovering" anything, we just want to get the system back online asap. The server has 64 or 32GB memory, can't remember off the top of my head, but either way, with a 14TB RAID, I think it may still not be enough. • Read-only filesystem

  I've resized a partition (ext4) from a Live CD with GParted, and after reboot it says that the file system is read-only. I've rebooted again from the CD and checked it with GParted with no errors. How could I find out why does it re-mount the file system in read-only mode? edit: It starts normally, but after some time, the "/" mount point gets remounted with read only settings, so I think it does have errors eventually. Is there any other way to repair it?

• Second network card configuration not working.

  I have 4 servers running Centos 5. All of them have two ethernet network cards. I have configured 192.168.1.x IP addresses on their eth0 card. They are all connected to the same switch using their eth0 card and they are all working. I have configured 10.72.11.x IP addresses on their eth1 card.They are all connected to the same switch - a different one from the switch used with eth0 card - using their eth1 card and they are NOT all working. • ClearTrace for SQL Server 2012

I have been experiencing that problem on my development cluster for a while too (with DSE 4.0.0, 4.0.1 and 4.0.2), but I thought this was because of some configuration error on my part. The problem has appeared spontaneously at some point too. The Cassandra cluster has been working very smoothly with a good write throughput. It is very stable and has enough resources to work with. We did not notice any problems with the applications that depend on it.

• Uninstall broken package

  Times ago I have installed Linux mint stuff on my Ubuntu 11.10 (now 12.04). I accidentally removed some files manually ( they were under /usr/share.). Now it is impossible to remove the related deb packages, and synaptic report various errors. How can remove them bypassing errors? It is possible view the installed files in synaptic and remove them manually, but is tedious...also remain the problem to remove the files entry from the apt database. Any suggestion?

  I recently installed Ubuntu 13.10, and thought I properly set things up to dual boot into Windows 8, but I continually get .efi errors when I attempt to boot into Windows 8. I installed Boot-Repair and used that to run the recommended fixes. It provided additional boot options within the GRUB2, but none (other than Ubuntu) are working.   I recently decided to switch from Eclipse to Android Studio. I imported a project I was working on and am now getting this error when I try to run the project. • Pixel shader wierd compilation error

  hi, I'm experiencing with shaders a bit and I keep getting this weird compilation error that's driving me crazy! the following pixel shader code snippet: DirectionVector = normalize(f3LightPosition[i] - PixelPos); LightVec = PixelNormal - DirectionVector; // Get the light strenght factor LightStrFactor = float(abs((LightVec.x + LightVec.y + LightVec.z) / 3.0f)); // TEST!!! LightStrFactor = 1.0f; // Add this light to the total light on this pixel LightVal += f4Light[i] * LightStrFactor; works perfectly, but as soon as i remove the "LightStrFactor = 1.0f;" line, i.e. letting 'LightStrFactor ' value be the result of the calculation above, it fails to compile the shader. I've managed to share some source files, but it could be a lot more neat. I've created a test solution called Commonality. The Solution Explorer of the Commonality solution which contains project One and Two: What I like: All class files under the Common folder of project One are automatically added to project Two by linking. It's mostly the same as if I would have chosen Add / Existing Item... : Add As Link on each new class source file. It's clear that these files have been linked in. The shortcut arrow symbol is marking each file icon. What I do not like: The file and folder tree structure under Common of project One isn't included. It's all flat. The linked source files are shown under the project root of project Two. It would look much less cluttered if they were located under Common like in project One. • Using java.util.regex in Android apps - are there issues with this?

  In an Android app I have a utility class that I use to parse strings for 2 regEx's. I compile the 2 patterns in a static initializer so they only get compiled once, then activities can use the parsing methods statically. This works fine except that the first time the class is accessed and loaded, and the static initializer compiles the pattern, the UI hangs for close to a MINUTE while it compiles the pattern! After the first time, it flies on all subsequent calls to parseString(). My regEx that I am using is rather large - 847 characters, but in a normal java webapp this is lightning fast. I am testing this so far only in the emulator with a 1.5 AVD.
