• How do I preserve installed applications when migrating Ubuntu to another platform?

  I'm looking at maybe moving from an older AMD64 to a new Intel dual-core which is 32 bit. Installation isn't a problem but can I transfer all the installed apps? I haven't been able to find anything so far on Google except where the migration is to a similar platform and file-system. I won't change the filesystem but the platform will be different. Is there something on the lines of the "World" file in Gentoo?

  I have an iPad app with split view. In the root view I need to make a two-level UITableView, so the UIWebView in the DetailView shows corresponding content. What I need is to make a two-level UITableView without editing, moving etc, so it can send the name of the selected row in the second level of the table to the DetailViewController.   Anyone ever implements something in UITextView that stopping it from receiving future inputs when the text length is smaller than certain threshold? I plan to implement a textview like we have in the mail composer interface. We have a placeholder "Subject" there, and the cursor starts after. Placeholder in UITextView Inspired from this question, I wonder if there are some methods which could be used to stop changing the text in the UITextView once the cursor is moving back to the placeholder string. Any ideas?

  Hi, I have a tabbar with one of the tabs containing a drilldown table. I am having problems once the user has finished using the drilldown table. If they change to another tab, then change back to the original tab, the original tab is still where I left it (at the bottom of the drill down showing the detail view) What I want is on moving to an alternative tab the old tab resets I have tried adding all sorts of stuff to -(void)viewDidDisappear and -(void)viewDidUnload with no success What do I need to do?   In Visual Studio, I always use Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to navigate between documents. I see that Eclipse has Ctrl+F6 to navigate between editors, but this isn't nearly the same behavior. The difference being, pressing it once and then again will get you moving back and forth between two files, whereas in VS, it will cause you to navigate forward based on the tab order in the editor. Any ideas on how I can replicate VS's behavior?

• Loading from pickled data causes database error with new saves

  In order to save time moving data I pickled some models and dumped them to file. I then reloaded them into another database using the same exact model. The save worked fine and the objects kept their old id which is what I wanted. However, when saving new objects I run into nextval errors. Not being very adept with postgres, I'm not sure how to fix this so I can keep old records with their existing ID while being able to continue adding new data. Thanks, Thomas

  Hi, since moving to Windows 7 (IIS 7.5), the debug assertions do not prompt a pop up dialog anymore. I have tested this in a separate project, and noticed that they do work when using the integrated Visual Studio Developer server (Cassini) but they do not work when using IIS Web Server.   I'm getting twice the frame rate with the earlier Java 6 u 3, than with the new ones. Very weird. Can anyone give some explanation? On Core 2 Duo 1.83ghz, integrated video (only one core is used) - 1500 (older java) vs 700 fps On Athlon 64 3500+, discrete video - 120 (older java) vs 55 fps The app is a simple game with a moving rectangle. I'm using Graphics2D to draw from a loop.
