• Switching OS, what will I need to copy over? (ssh key, etc)

  I'd like to change the OS on my laptop. I currently use Windows 7, but would like to install Ubuntu, but I'm not sure exactly what I need on the new OS. I've deployed an app to Heroku, which required my ssh key, is that all I need to copy over? Or are there other files I need as well?

I found this link that states where the source code is but I cannot find it in my platform builder installation - I expect this is because it isn't the Windows Automotive platform. • Reopening serial port fails if not closed properly with CloseHandle

  I am working with USB device on Windows that is seen as a virtual serial port. I can communicate with the device using CreateFile and ReadFile functions, but in some cases my application does not call CloseHandle (when my application in development crashes). After that all calls to CreateFile fail (ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED), and the only solution is to log in to my computer again. Is there any way to force closing the open handle (or reopening) programmatically?

Specifically: Address space layout randomization (ASLR) Heap randomization Stack randomization The article went on to say that "...some of these defenses are in the core operating system, and the Microsoft Visual C++ compiler offers others" but didn't explain how these strategies would actually increase security. Anyone know why memory randomization increases security, if at all? Do other platforms and compilers employ similar strategies?
