  • Start thread with two parameters

    - by Matt
    I've got a method that gets called on an event, which presents me with two variables varA, varB (both strings). This method gets called with new information quite frequently, thus I have created a separate method that takes in the two parameters. I want to run this method in a thread, however have struck the issue that Thread.Start will not accept parameters. I've tried a few supposed methods, but have so far had no luck.. I think my best bet is to create a separate class, and handle it there.. However I have a List which I am inserting data into, and hit a dead end when the separate class tried to access that list, since it was in a different class. Can someone help me out here please?

  • Smart pointer class predeclaration

    - by tommyk
    I have a header file: class A { public: DeviceProxyPtr GetDeviceProxy(); }; DeviceProxyPtr is defined in a different header file like this: typedef SmartPtrC<DeviceProxyC> DeviceProxyPtr; I don't want to include DeviceProxyPtr definition header. If a return type was DeviceProxy* I could simply use predeclaration class DeviceProxy. Is there any way to do the same with my smart pointer class?

  • Applet class loader cannot find one of the classes in the jar

    - by Chry Cheng
    I get the ff. error in Java Console occassionally: Exception in thread "thread applet-my.package.MyApplet-10" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: another/package/SomeClass at my.package.MyApplet.init(MyApplet.java:95) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: another.package.SomeClass at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source) ... 3 more Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed:https://myserver/mycontext/applets/another/package/SomeClass.class at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.getBytes(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.access$000(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) ... 7 more My applet tag is as follows: <applet codebase="../../applets" code="my.package.MyApplet" class="invisible" id="myApplet"> <param value="value0" name="param0"/> ... <param value="valueN" name="paramN" /> <param value="folder/myApplet__0.0.1177.jar,folder/commons-io-1.3.2__0.0.1177.jar,..." name="cache_archive"/> <param value="0.0.1177.0,0.0.1177.0,...," name="cache_version"/> </applet> It is important I stress the word "occasionally". Sometimes the applet is initialized without a hitch. This also means that, often, when the browser is restarted, the problem goes away. I am aware of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/698890/applet-fails-to-load-class-from-jar and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/872905/applet-class-loader-cannot-find-a-class-in-the-applets-jar but I think they are not applicable to my case. SomeClass and MyApplet are in the same jar and the page is being accessed locally.

  • C# How can I return my base class in a webservice

    - by HenriM
    I have a class Car and a derived SportsCar: Car Something like this: public class Car { public int TopSpeed{ get; set; } } public class SportsCar : Car { public string GirlFriend { get; set; } } I have a webservice with methods returning Cars i.e: [WebMethod] public Car GetCar() { return new Car() { TopSpeed = 100 }; } It returns: <Car> <TopSpeed>100</TopSpeed> </Car> I have another method that also returns cars like this: [WebMethod] public Car GetMyCar() { Car mycar = new SportsCar() { GirlFriend = "JLo", TopSpeed = 300 }; return mycar; } It compiles fine and everything, but when invoking it I get: System.InvalidOperationException: There was an error generating the XML document. --- System.InvalidOperationException: The type wsBaseDerived.SportsCar was not expected. Use the XmlInclude or SoapInclude attribute to specify types that are not known statically. I find it strange that it can't serialize this as a straight car, as mycar is a car. Adding XmlInclude on the WebMethod of ourse removes the error: [WebMethod] [XmlInclude(typeof(SportsCar))] public Car GetMyCar() { Car mycar = new SportsCar() { GirlFriend = "JLo", TopSpeed = 300 }; return mycar; } and it now returns: <Car xsi:type="SportsCar"> <TopSpeed>300</TopSpeed> <GirlFriend>JLo</GirlFriend> </Car> But I really want the base class returned, without the extra properties etc from the derived class. Is that at all possible without creating mappers etc? Please say yes ;)

  • ValidateInput Attribute Doesn't Seem To Work in ASP.NET MVC

    - by JC Grubbs
    I'm trying to get around the "potentially dangerous Request.Form value" error and I'm having no luck. Yes, yes, I've read all the other StackOverflow related questions and none of them seem to get me closer to an answer. I am using [ValidateInput(false)] on all related controller actions...and I've checked many times. I'm using ValidateRequest='false' in all the related ASPX views. I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 1, but I don't think that's an issue since the error is being generated lower in the framework; Page.ProcessRequest to be exact. I can't see anything I'm doing wrong, I even set <page validateRequest='false'> in the web.config and that didn't solve it either. HELP!!!!!

  • Access Flash Symbol Via Code from an .as Class

    - by David
    Hi, I've got a movie clip symbol in my .fla file that I need to reference in an .as file which is in a subfolder in the project. I select the symbol in the library and edit its properties. Its name is bubble; I Export for ActionScript and Export in frame 1. I give it a class name of Bubble. Now I need to go to my .as class, called SomeClass.as There, I need to reference the symbol, because I want to move it from within related code in that .as file. But if I try bubble.x I get an error. If I try var myBubble:Bubble = new Bubble(); I get 'Access of undefined property myBubble'. I was told that I might try 'importing the document class' but how do you import a class which is in the root directory of your app from within a class that's in a subfolder? (Don't know if this would provide the solution anyway)... Tanks.

  • C# Pass Generics At Runtime

    - by TheCloudlessSky
    I have a method like the following: public IEnumerable<T> GetControls<T>() : where T : ControlBase { // removed. } I then created a class: public class HandleBase<TOwner> : ControlBase : TOwner { // Removed } I'd like to be able to call GetControls<HandleBase<this.GetType()>>; where it would use the type of THIS class to pass to the HandleBase. This would in essentially get all HandleBase that have an owner of THIS type. How can I achieve this?

  • Find tag that contains certain text and add a class

    - by David Gard
    I have the following HTML, and I need to add a class to both <li> and <a> where the text 'Charts' exists (so not the second line, but rather the 4th and 5th). I cannot change the output of the HTML. <div class="wp-submenu-wrap"> <div class="wp-submenu-head">Charts</div> <ul> <li class="wp-first-item"> <a class="wp-first-item" tabindex="1" href="admin.php?page=charts">Charts</a> </li> <li> <a tabindex="1" href="admin.php?page=add-chart">Add Chart</a> </li> </ul> </div> I've tried doing this by locating the <a> tag that contains the text, but it is not working. Can somebody please point me in the correct direction? Thanks. Code that I've tried - $(document).ready(function(){ if(pagenow === 'admin_page_edit-chart') { var page = $('.wp-submenu-wrap a:contains["Charts"]'); page.addClass('current'); page.parent('li').addClass('current'); } });

  • derived class as default argument g++

    - by Vincent
    Please take a look at this code: template<class T> class A { class base { }; class derived : public A<T>::base { }; public: int f(typename A<T>::base& arg = typename A<T>::derived()) { return 0; } }; int main() { A<int> a; a.f(); return 0; } Compiling generates the following error message in g++: test.cpp: In function 'int main()': test.cpp:25: error: default argument for parameter of type 'A<int>::base&' has type 'A<int>::derived' The basic idea (using derived class as default value for base-reference-type argument) works in visual studio, but not in g++. I have to publish my code to the university server where they compile it with gcc. What can I do? Is there something I am missing?

  • Sharing common class in wcf project

In this common project I can't generate servicereferences. I think, I could don't generate MyCommonClass in ServiceReferences but how to mark class to be nonserializable? In properties there's IgnoreDataMemberAttribute. I tried also reuse MyCommonClass type located in common project, but it is still generated

  • Editing a UIViewController from another class.

    - by Guy
    I am trying to programmatically change the user interface of a UIViewController from another NSObject class. The problem is that I am unsure of how to access the UIViewController's view from the NSObject class. So for example, in my NSObject class, I say something like: self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor yellowColor]; but I keep getting errors saying "Request for member "view" in something not a strut or union." Is there something I need to allow my NSObject class to see my UIViewController? Thanks!

  • Qt - invalid conversion to child class

    - by David Davidson
    I'm drawing polygons using the Graphics View framework. I added a polygon to the scene with this: QGraphicsPolygonItem *poly = scene->addPolygon(QPolygonF(vector_of_QPointF)); poly->setPos(some_point); But I need to implement some custom behaviour like selection, mouse over indicator, and other similar stuff on the graphics item. So I declared a class that inherits QGraphicsPolygonItem: #include <QGraphicsPolygonItem> class GridHex : public QGraphicsPolygonItem { public: GridHex(QGraphicsItem* parent = 0); }; GridHex::GridHex(QGraphicsItem* parent) : QGraphicsPolygonItem(parent) { } Not doing much with that class so far, as you can see. But shouldn't replacing QGraphicsPolygonItem with my GridHex class? This is throwing a " invalid conversion from 'QGraphicsPolygonItem*' to 'GridHex*' " error: GridHex* poly = scene->addPolygon(QPolygonF(vector_of_QPointF)); What am I doing wrong?

  • Can't Use Generic C# Class in Using Statement

    - by Eric J.
    I'm trying to use a generic class in a using statement but the compiler can't seem to treat it as implementing IDisposable. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Data.Objects; namespace Sandbox { public sealed class UnitOfWorkScope<T> where T : ObjectContext, IDisposable, new() { public void Dispose() { } } public class MyObjectContext : ObjectContext, IDisposable { public MyObjectContext() : base("DummyConnectionString") { } #region IDisposable Members void IDisposable.Dispose() { throw new NotImplementedException(); } #endregion } public class Consumer { public void DoSomething() { using (new UnitOfWorkScope<MyObjectContext>()) { } } } } Compiler error is: Error 1 'Sandbox.UnitOfWorkScope<Sandbox.MyObjectContext>': type used in a using statement must be implicitly convertible to 'System.IDisposable' I implemented IDisposable on UnitOfWorkScope (and to see if that was the problem, also on MyObjectContext). What am I missing?

  • Why are my ActiveRecord class instance variables disappearing after the first request in development

    - by Paul C
    I have a class instance variable on one of my AR classes. I set its value at boot with an initializer and, after that, never touch it again except to read from it. In development mode, this value disappears after the first request to the web server. However, when running tests, using the console or running the production server this does not happen. # The AR class class Group < ActiveRecord::Base class << self attr_accessor :path end end # The initializer Group.path = File.join(RAILS_ROOT, "public", "etc") # First request in a view %p= Group.path #=> "/home/rails/app/public/etc" # Second request in a view %p= Group.path #=> nil Is there something about development mode that nukes instance variables from classes with each request? If so, is there a way to disable this for specific variables or classes?

  • @attribute elements in XML

This is what I tried (Wrong I know) foreach ($entry->link as $img) { echo $img->href; echo "<img src='". $img ."' />"; }

  • Class not overwriting with addClass

    - by scatteredbomb
    I'm using jQuery's addClass to add a class to an tab so when clicked it'll change the class so it's obvious the tab is highlighted. My HTML <div id="mainNav"> <ul> <li id="LinktheBand" onclick="nav('theBand')">The Band</li> <li id="linkTheMusic" onclick="nav('theMusic')">The Music</li> My CSS #mainNav li { float:left; margin-right:5px; color:white; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 10px 8px 0px 8px; background:url('../images/transparent-65.png'); height:40px; height: 25px !important; border:1px solid #000; } #mainNav li:hover { float:left; margin-right:5px; color:white; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 10px 8px 0px 8px; background: #660000; height:40px; height: 25px !important; border:1px solid #660000; } .mainNavSelected { float:left; margin-right:5px; color:white; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 10px 8px 0px 8px; background: #660000; height:40px; height: 25px !important; border:1px solid #660000; } My Javascript function nav(a) { $('#'+a).show(); $('#Link'+a).addClass('mainNavSelected'); } This works properly, I check firebug and can see the class="mainNavSelected" is added, but the list element doesn't take any properties of the new class. Firebug lists all the class items for mainNavSelected, but has them all crossed out. What am i missing to replace the class of this element?

  • Objective-C subclass and base class casting

    - by ryanjm.mp
    I'm going to create a base class that implements very similar functions for all of the subclasses. This was answered in a different question. But what I need to know now is if/how I can cast various functions (in the base class) to return the subclass object. This is both for a given function but also a function call in it. (I'm working with CoreData by the way) As a function within the base class (this is from a class that is going to become my subclass) +(Structure *)fetchStructureByID:(NSNumber *)structureID inContext:(NSManagedObjectContext *)managedObjectContext {...} And as a function call within a given function: Structure *newStructure = [Structure fetchStructureByID:[currentDictionary objectForKey:@"myId"]]; inContext:managedObjectContext]; Structure is one of my subclasses, so I need to rewrite both of these so that they are "generic" and can be applied to other subclasses (whoever is calling the function). How do I do that? Update: I just realized that in the second part there are actually two issues. You can't change [Structure fetch...] to [self fetch...] because it is a class method, not an instance method. How do I get around that too?

  • Change storyboard UIImageView to own class with backgroundcolor

    - by Thomas
    I want to draw the background image on my own, so I decided to implement a UIImageView class and connect it in the Storyboard. As first task I just want to set the backgroundcolor of the image on my own, but it's never shown. Image just stays blank. That's the class: class FirstBackgroundImage : UIImageView { required init(coder aDecoder: NSCoder) { super.init(coder: aDecoder) self.backgroundColor = UIColor.redColor() } override init() { super.init() self.backgroundColor = UIColor.redColor() } override required init(image: UIImage!) { super.init(image: image) self.backgroundColor = UIColor.redColor() } } That's how i connected it:
