  What Language is Unity written in? Also, where can i get its source code? I have an idea for a windowing enviroment or shell (dont know what to call it). What i want to do is teach myself to create it. i like some of several ideas i have seen, but i want to redo all of them, also the concept of how a desktop works.   If i decide to write a simple game both text and graphical (2d) what libs may i use? Assuming we are using a HTML5 compatible browser. The main things i can think of Rendering text on screen Animating sprites (using images/css) Input (capturing the arrow keys and getting relative mouse positions) Perhaps some preloading resource or dynamically loading resources and choosing order Sound (but i am unsure how important this will be to me at first). Perhaps with mixing and chaining sounds or looping forever until stop. Networking (low priority) to connect a user to another or to continuously GET data without multiple request (i know this exist but i dont know how easy it is to setup or use. But this isnt important to me. Its for the question).

  I recently bought a new computer (Asus 1015 cx) with Ubuntu (12.4) as preinstalled system. My problem is with the internet. The computer connects just fine to the free wifi we have at home, but in college, we have a little bit different system. There is wifi, but it is not free - everyone receives a user name and a password. I cant manage to estabilish this Pppoe connection - the computer "sees" where can it connect, but I dont know where to write my username and password. It is not the DSL connection, what I have already tried. Can you help me?

  We're evaluating a set of requirements for a customer who wants Liferay which mainly has AAA and Web CMS requirements, and allowing user to upload their own content. Also all inetgration is via web services. However there is no need for other features such as actual "portlets", i18n, mashups, skins, themes, tagging, social presence, no collaboration etc So we feel we can do this as a standard JEE web app and not use Liferay (or any other portal product) since these are overheads we dont need. The customer feels the Web CMS requirements + user upload justify the "portal" product. Can anyone help me with some points to convince the customer? Assuming our point of view is right.

  Im currently running Win7, and want to wipe the drive and install 10.10. I have 10.10 loaded on a USB thumbdrive and it sees the device in BIOS but it only reaches a screen saying; Unknown Filesystem grub rescue> Ive read several results from google and a couple here where people are trying to dual boot and i assume save the data on the drive, but i dont care about doing that, and would prefer to just wipe the drive and start fresh. What steps can i take to get the drive to a point where i can load 10.10 live and get it installed?

  A client of ours has a CMS driven Blog in his hotel site - he would like to use the blog to add depth top his site and add seo benefits relating to the blogs content. The current blog is a basic header / text field and doesn't contain any tagging / meta features. Unfortunately we dont have a .net developer in our team to alter the existing blog and add meta / tagging and there isn't budget to hire one - so I considered using a Tumblr blog - setting it up externally - giving it a blog.hotelname.com address and feeding it into the existing page via tumblrs js - which basically does a document.write into the page - which we can style.   In my cube world, I want to use octrees to represent my chunks of 20x20x20 cubes for frustum and occlusion culling. I understand how octrees work, I just dont know if I'm going about this the right way. My base octree class is taken from here: http://www.xnawiki.com/index.php/Octree What I'm wondering is how to apply occlusion culling using this class. Does it make sense to have one octree for each cube chunk? Or should I make the octree bigger? Since I'm using cubes, each cube should fit into a node without overlap so that won't be an issue

  I have Ubuntu10.10 x64 and after installing Windows 7 grub dissapear I log on with my usb to reinstall grub and now grub only shows Ubuntu...   I'm doing space shooter kind of game, the logic is to reflect the enemy if it hits the boundary. With my logic, sometimes enemy behaves like flickering instead of changing the velocity. It's like trapped in the boundary and checking for if loops. • What source control to use for my private gaming server?h

  It has sql server components, client launcher, server software. I want to use an online resource where people can make updates, and make it easier to roll out any changes to players. Most of the files are just text files, or gtx image files. I don't think this qualifies as open source, so I don't know what to do. I tried github, and have a free account there, but it was really clunky, mass adding every file to be comitted. I really dont' like subversion but if that's the best option, i'll use it. The other people who will need access to the files will have no familiarity with any kind of source control, so I need an easy system for them to download files, make changes, and comit to the repository. Any suggestions?
