• How do I target a div without a class or id but with all these specific style-attributes

  I'm restyling a certain page where I don't have access to all the source-HTML. So I'm left over with some hard to target elements within a page I need removed. For example the page is swamped with <div style="float: left; width: 10.25px; height: 284px;"></div>. To get rid of them I tried this in CSS: div[style="float: left; width: 10.25px; height: 284px;"] { display:none !important; } I'd like to fix this using CSS, because the the HTML that needs to be removed is updated using ajax. How do I target a div without a class or id but with all these specific style-attributes?   I'm developing an application for the iPhone that has inApp-mail sending capabilities. So far so good, but now I want to avoid html-injections as some parts of the mail are user-generated texts. • How do I get a useful value for height and width of a div element using javascript?

  I need to be able to store the current height and width of a div at any point in time. Currently I am using div.style.height/width which works fine when the styling is applied inline. The problem is that this returns for example 600px and not 600. Is there a better way to do this? If not, whats the best way to get just the number 600?

• Load an html table from a mysql database when an onChange event is triggered from a select tag

  So, here's the deal. I have an html table that I want to populate. Specificaly the first row is the one that is filled with elements from a mysql database. To be exact, the table is a questionnaire about mobile phones. The first row is the header where the cellphone names are loaded from the database. There is also a select tag that has company names as options in it. I need to trigger an onChange event on the select tag to reload the page and refill the first row with the new names of mobiles from the company that is currently selected in the dropdown list.   In my XML schema I have an element being referenced tens of times by other elements but with different enumerated values for one of its attribute. For now, instead of creating this element in global space and referencing it later, I am creating a new instance wherever it is needed. This approach has increased my schema size enormously because of repeated creation of almost same element many times. It also may have adverse effect on efficiency of the schema. The only way that I see is to create element once and then reference it many times but my problem is: one of the attribute of this referenced element is required to have a different set of enumerations for each referencing element. My question is: Is it possible to to add an attribute to a "Referenced Element" in XML Schema? • Is there a maximum number of input controls that can be used on an HTML form?

  I have an ambitious requirement for an asp.net 2.0 web page that contains a table (gridview), and each row in the grid contains 6 select (dropdown) controls for data entry. The number of rows that will be displayed is dependent upon the user's search parameters, which are specified in another area of the page. Unfortunately, with the default (and even basic) search parameters specified, the grid could contain several hundred rows. I've noticed that the browser, in this case IE8, starts behaving rather erratically once I reach a large number of rows -- no documented evidence for the number of rows where this begins to be a problem. For example, trying to view the source of the page results in a message from IE stating that there was a problem with the page that forced the browser to reload it, and I never get the source. Obviously the page loads and renders rather slowly also. I know that my solution is probably going to involve paging the gridview such that it only displays 20 or so rows per page, and I'll have to write code to handle the saving of changes in the dropdown values when the user changes pages. I can probably turn off viewstate on the gridview also. However, the question I really want to pose is this -- has anyone seen a documented rule indicating the maximum number of input controls that an HTML browser form is supposed to be able to contain? I could not find anything on the Internet after doing a search, and I suspect the answer may be whatever the browser can handle based on the machine configuration it is running on. • How would I get an img element to render under a background-image in CSS.

  Basically, I am trying to put a semi-transparent div over an image to serve as a background for text for a slideshow. Unfortunately, the browser seems intent on always rendering the img over the background-image. Is there any way to fix this? Here is my current CSS for the semi-transparent div: #slideshow .info { height: 80px; margin-top: -80px; background: url(../../images/slideshow-info-pixel.png) repeat; } ... with slideshow-info-pixel.png being a single pixel, 50% opacity, PNG 24. I have so far tried z-index and the CSS must be compatible with IE6.

• How do I select a class element based on its id in jQuery?

  I have multiple dynamically generated buttons with a class name of ".button". Each of these are given an unknown ID value used to uniquely identify them. In jQuery I must select one and alert the values. <div class="button" id="3"></div> The ID value is dynamically generated, therefore I do not know it. I'm new to jQuery but am basically looking for something like this: $(".button").attr("id").val(); How do I target one button when there are many? Thanks!
