  I get the following error when downloading excel file in SSL site: Internet Explorer cannot download xxxx.aspx from mysite.com. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. After googling, I suspect that it's the problem of the response header. I try the solution in this page and set the header: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/1020 HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Pragma", "no-cache"); HttpContext.Current.Response.CacheControl = "private"; But it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

• SQL Server 2008 Management Studio doesn't recognize new Schema

  I have created a new Schema in a database called Contexts. Now when I want to write a query, Management Studio doesn't recognize the tables that belong to the new Schema. It says: 'Invalid object name Contexts.ContextLibraries'... Transact-SQL: INSERT INTO [Contexts].[ContextLibraries] (ChannelId, [IsSystem]) VALUES (@ChannelId, 1) When I try the same thing on my local database, it does work... Any ideas? I did try to change the Default schema for the user from dbo to Contexts but this doesn't work. Also checked Contexts in Schemas owned by this user without success. Update: Apparently the sql query does work but the editor gives a fault saying the object is invalid.

• Use ASP.Net server control code generation from .ashx

  I'm trying to take an existing bunch of code that was previously on a full .aspx page, and do the same stuff in a .ashx handler. The code created an HtmlTable object, added rows and cells to those rows, then added that html table the .aspx's controls collection, then added it to a div that was already on the page. I am trying to keep the code in tact but instead of putting the control into a div, actually generate the html and I'll return that in a big chunk of text that can be called via AJAX client-side. HtmlTable errors out when I try to use the InnerHtml property (says it isn't supported), and when I try RenderControl, after making first a TextWriter and next an HtmlTextWriter object, I get the error that Page cannot be null. Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions?

• Running directx samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

  I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on a Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because of a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync (I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device and running it works). When I try to run the application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set...

  I'm just getting started with javafx in NetBeans, and I have it doing simple stuff (windows with buttons + the like) but would like to try something slightly more realistic. The "Swing/AWT Components" palette has a whole bunch of stuff that the "JavaFX Script Code Clips" palette does not (it has Button, CheckBox, ComboBox, ComboBoxItem, Label, RadioButton, Slider, TextField, and ToggleButton). How do I add stuff to this palette? I would like to try using some of the components in org-netbeans-swing-outline.jar edit: Aha. I was missing the point somewhat: there are only some javafx-wrapped Swing components available in javafx.ext.Swing.*, so if you want one of the other Swing components you have to wrap them yourself.

  Today I was bitten again by "Mutable default arguments" after many years. I usually don't use mutable default arguments unless needed but I think with time I forgot about that, and today in the application I added tocElements=[] in a pdf generation function's argument list and now 'Table of Content' gets longer and longer after each invocation of "generate pdf" :) My question is what other things should I add to my list of things to MUST avoid? Mutable default arguments Import modules always same way e.g. from y import x and import x are different things, they are treated as different modules. • Java parsing UTF8

  I have the following issue with a UTF8 files structured as following: FIELD1§FIELD2§FIELD3§FIELD4 Looking at hexadecimal values of the file it uses A7 to codify §. So according to this codify it should be UTF8, but it's strange because A7 7F so 1 byte shouldn't be enough to codify §. So I tried using directly a BufferedReader with a specified charset: BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(input), utf8)) but when I try to tokenize the string with SmartTokenizer st = new SmartTokenizer(toTokenize, "§") (the SmartTokenizer is a modified version of the StringTokenizer that keeps empty tokens) no splitting occurs, and if I try to print the string I obtain FIELD1?FIELD2?FIELD3?... so § used in the file is different from the one specified as a the delimiter, and it's not able to print out it too. So what's the problem here? Maybe the original file should use 2 bytes to store §?

I actually try to use the session array to store the post vars from a multistep registration form.   I started my computer engineering course recently and we've been using C for a couple of things. Before starting university, I was doing a lot of web development. I've written a lot of PHP code (yuck!) and for the last year or so Ruby exclusively. aside: I love Ruby, love it! So after a year of heavy Ruby development, is it wrong to think that C should be avoided at all costs unless absolutely necessary? Right now it seems to me I should try to a) get it to run in Ruby b) if it's too slow, try Java c) if it's too slow, use C Is there anyone who jumps straight to C if a VM (Ruby, Java, Python, etc) can be used on the machine and speed is not an issue? In other words, can C NOT be painful?

  In Python scripts, there are many cases where a keyboard interrupt (Ctrl-C) fails to kill the process because of a bare except clause somewhere in the code: try: foo() except: bar() The standard solution in Python 2.5 or higher is to catch Exception rather than using bare except clauses: try: foo() except Exception: bar() This works because, as of Python 2.5, KeyboardInterrupt and SystemExit inherit from BaseException, not Exception. However, some installations are still running Python 2.4. How can this problem be handled in versions prior to Python 2.5? I want to be able to mix expressions of the same calculus but not be allowed to mix expressions of different ones. So far, so good. I can create my calculus instances, but problem is that I can not write functions in other classes that manipulate them. For example, I am trying to create a parser to read expressions from a file and return them; I also was trying to write an random expression generator to use in my tests with ScalaCheck. Turns out that every time a function generates an Expr object I can't use it outside the function. Even if I create the Calculus instance and pass it as an argument to the function that will in turn generate the Expr objects, the return of the function is not recognized as being of the same type of the objects created outside the function. • Postgresql 8.4 reading OID style BLOBs with Hibernate

  I am getting this weird case when querying Postgres 8.4 for some records with Blobs (of type OIDs) with Hibernate. • Uploading image file from website on yahoo server causes 410 gone error message when trying to acces

  I have a form that lets users upload a photo of themselves. This seems to work. The photo does exist on the server once uploaded. When I try to access the file I get a "403 forbidden - you don't have permission to access this url on this sever" and also I get "Additionally, a 410 Gone error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." • Wanting a simple overview on how to connect to a SQLite database in Cocoa/Objective-C

  Hi, everyone. I've been experimenting with Cocoa and Objective-C programming on the Mac for a few months now, and I am wanting to start developing applications that manage large amounts of data. The trouble is, I'm not really sure where to start with databases. I have a good background in Java programming with SQLite. I've read a bit about CoreData and I haven't been able to find any good resources for just manually connecting to the database. I'm looking for recommendations. Should I try CoreData, and if so, can anyone recommend a good tutorial for someone new to the language? Or, should I try to manually connect and query an SQLite database somehow, and, if so, any tutorials? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

• NSDocument Subclass not closed by NSWindowController?

  Okay, I'm fairly new to Cocoa and Objective-C, and to OOP in general. As background, I'm working on an extensible editor that stores the user's documents in a package. This of course required some "fun" to get around some issues with NSFileWrapper (i.e. a somewhat sneaky writing and loading process to avoid making NSFileWrappers for every single document within the bundle). The solution I arrived at was to essentially treat my NSDocument subclass as just a shell -- use it to make the folder for the bundle, and then pass off writing the actual content of the document to other methods. Unfortunately, at some point I seem to have completely screwed the pooch. I don't know how this happened, but closing the document window no longer releases the document. The document object doesn't seem to receive a "close" message -- or any related messages -- even though the window closes successfully. The end result is that if I start my app, create a new document, save it, then close it, and try to reopen it, the document window never appears. With some creative subclassing and NSLogging, I managed to figure out that the document object was still in memory, and still attached to the NSDocumentController instance, and so trying to open the document never got past the NSDocumentController's "hmm, currently have that one open" check. I did have an NSWindowController and NSDocumentController instance, but I've purged them from my project completely. I've overridden nearly every method for NSDocument trying to find out where the issue is. So far as I know, my Interface Builder bindings are all correct -- "Close" in the main menu is attached to "performClose:" of the First Responder, etc, and I've tried with fresh unsullied MainMenu and Document xibs as well. I thought that it might be something strange with my bundle writing code, so I basically deleted it all and started from scratch, but that didn't seem to work. I took out my init method overrides, and that didn't help either. I don't have the source of any simple document apps here, so I didn't try the next logical step (to substitute known-working code for mine in the readfromurl and writetourl methods). I've had this problem for about sixteen hours of uninterrupted troubleshooting now, and needless to say, I'm at the end of my rope. If I can't figure it out, I guess I'm going to try the project from scratch with a lot more code and intensity based around the bundle-document mess. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I am trying to write a function to post form data and save returned cookie info in a file so that the next time the page is visited, the cookie information is sent to the server (i.e. normal browser behavior). I wrote this relatively easily in C++ using curlib, but have spent almost an entire day trying to write this in Python, using urllib2 - and still no success. My two questions are: can anyone see whats wrong with the login() function, and how may I fix it? how may I modify the get_page() function to make use of any cookie info I have saved ?
