  • Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' + Postfix

    I just installed Postfix and configured it to use MySQL. It wasn't sending any emails out after I did that so I checked /var/log/mail.log and it came back with this: postfix/trivial-rewrite[5283]: fatal: proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql-domains.cf(0,lock|fold_fix): table lookup problem postfix/cleanup[5258]: warning: AFCDC30437: virtual_alias_maps map lookup problem for [email protected] postfix/master[4761]: warning: process /usr/lib/postfix/trivial-rewrite pid 5282 exit status 1 postfix/proxymap[4126]: warning: connect to mysql server 127.0.0.1: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (110) In mysql-domains.cf I'm using: Hosts 127.0.0.1 I can connect to MySQL with this: mysql -u postfixuser -p But I can't connect this way: mysql -u postfixuser -h 127.0.0.1 -p maildbname Also when I run netstat -l it comes back with: tcp 0 0 localhost:mysql *:* LISTEN I've tried changing my hosts to: Hosts localhost But then I just get a socket error: postfix/cleanup[4870]: warning: connect to mysql server localhost: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' I also have this set up in the MySQL config file: bind-address = 127.0.0.1 I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I am pretty new to all this.   • Powershell or WMI to pull Printer Properties and Additional Drivers?

    What I am trying to accomplish: Use a powershell script (WMI or cmdlets directly, or a combination) to query a 2003 or 2008 server with the PrintServer role, enumerate the printers shared, then list the drivers in use for that printer and specifically if an x86 or x64 driver is being used (or both). I've looked at Win32_Printer, Win32_PrinterDriver, Get-Printer, etc. None of these seem to be able to tell me about x64 drivers or when multiple platform-specific drivers are loaded. Something like: gwmi win32_printer -computername lebowski | %{$name = $_.name $supported = $_.getrelated('Win32_PrinterDriver') | select supportedplatform, driverpath, version Write-Host $name return $supported } Produces the following: PCLOADLETTER supportedplatform : Windows NT x86 driverpath : C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\RIC54Dc.DLL version : 3 However the problem being that particular printer also has x64 drivers loaded. I really don't want to manually check the properties tab of 100 printers just to see if they have the x64 driver loaded.

  • Google Apps for Domains, Multiple Domains

    I have a primary google apps for domains account which I use for my personal email, calender, docs etc and is great. I also receive my pop3 company email via settings-Get mail from other accounts in my account. Due to spam I want to make use of gmail servers for my company email and have two options: [1] Add my second domain as a domain alias [2] Create a new apps for domains account If I do [1] above do I access (send and receive) my company email as if it was a separate account or is it merged into my primary domain. I want the two seperated. If I perform [2] can I share my contacts / calender between the two? I also have Act! contact manager which syncs to my primary domain and it is getting messy now with personal and work contacts being changed / sync'd to my Act CM software. I want to try and separate my personal and work contacts (but make the work them avaiable in my primary domain). Hope this makes sense! Your suggestions are gratefully accepted. Thank you

  • Weird "missing" CD/DVD driver during Windows Server 2008 installation

    Hi. We have an old PowerEdge 860 that we're trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2 onto. At present the machine doesn't have any OS installed, so we're doing a clean install from a DVD. Pretty simple stuff. The problem is that, although the installation process starts off well (asking for language and locale settings), as soon as we click "Install Now" we're told "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing." The operating system has already booted from our only DVD drive(!). I've seen other people complain about this problem (usually in relation to installing Vista or Windows 7) but I've not found a 100% solution yet. (Our DVD drive is a Hitachi LG GWA-4400N, salvaged from an old laptop. There have never been any drivers released for this device, nor any firmware updates.) The most promising lead I have is from someone claiming that Windows is actually asking for a driver for the ATAPI/IDE Controller here. UPDATE See my answer below... It was most likely a corrupt download. (*shame*) I will update this question when I know for sure.

    Hi, I've just installed an Ubuntu server 9.10 on an EEEBox. This is my /etc/network/interfaces # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet static address 192.168.48.16 netmask 255.255.248.0 wireless-essid mynet auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address xx.xx.xx.xx netmask 255.255.255.224 gateway xx.xx.yy.yy When I restart /etc/init.d/networking, I can access the eth0 ip address from the internet and I can ping the machines in my wifi network mynet. Everything works fine and I have one default gateway. But after some time if I check again the route I just find two default gateways: one is correct and is the previous one, but the other is the one of the wifi network. I have a quite low signal of mynet where my server is and sometimes the wifi just disconnect and then reconnect again. Then I think that this can be a problem and the dhcp of the wifi net, when reconnecting it also add a default gateway. Any idea on how to resolve this issue?

The Test.aspx file is not blank. Any idea what's going on here?

  • growing EBS RAID volume

    I've created a RAID0 configuration with two 1GB EBS volumes, mounted at /dev/md0 using mdadm and formatted with XFS Next, I copied some files over to fill the volume to around 30% of its capacity (of 2GB) I then created snapshots of the volumes using ec2-consistent-snapshot and created volumes of the said snapshots but specified the volume size to be 2GB (effective doubling the capacity on each disk) I then spun up a new instance, assembled the RAID0 configuration on /dev/md0 from the 2 volumes mentioned above and mount it to /vol df -hT showed /vol as 2GB (as expected) Now I ran sudo xfs_growfs -d /vol. The command completed normally but reported blocks changed from 523776 to 524160 (only!) and df -hT still showed /vol as 2GB (instead of the expected 4GB) I rebooted, remounted, reassembled the RAID but it still reports the old size. Any clue as to what went wrong?

Is the command included in the windows distro, or do I need to run it from the AIK, or from a PE environment?

If our main ISP Backbone provider have no anti-DDoS mechanism, means that there is no point we get the Arbor Pravail?   • Ubuntu Server - Power failure leads to boot failure

    I have installed Ubuntu Server 10.04.1 LTS on an ext4 partition. Whenever my system looses power suddenly, It doesn't boot into the normal procedure to fix the problems automatically, but switches to the busy box shell (where it says Kernel Panic : No init found) So I guess kernel is refusing to mount the filesystem when it is not clean, since when I boot up using a Live CD and fsck it, it boots up correctly. How can I force kernel to mount the filesystem, even if it is not clean ?, so that automated fsck on system startup fixes the problems... (or it's a grub problem ?)   • Remote desktop is slow when connecting to a computer which is part of a domain

    Hey all, We have two windows 2003 machines, one is a DC and another is joined to the domain of the DC. These machines are not locally available to us so we have to remote desktop into them. When we first got the machines remote desktop was blazing as the machines are only a couple of miles away. I then installed AD and setup routing and remote access, I also setup DNS on the DC. Now when I try remote Desktop into the machine which is part of the domain (not the DC) it is painfully slow! Remote Desktop onto the DC is also noticeably slower! Another problem is that our FTP to the DC has also become slow. I don't know what other information I can provide, as I am new to Sys Admin (moving over from development). The speed should be fast as these machines are only a couple of miles away. Any help / suggestions is greatly appreciated! Thanks Peuge

    Hi i have a windows 2008 R2 hyper-v server which is managed via scvmm 2008 R2. the guest os running on the hyper-v server is winxp with sp3. if i change the vlan id via scvmm the guest doesn't get an ip via dhcp i looked in the properties of the vm with the hyper-v mmc an see the vlan changed correctly but no ip connectivity either static or dhcp a reboot of the guest os didn't help if i change the vlan id via hyper-v mmc the guest gets an ip via dhcp scvmm seams to forget something after the vlan change has anyone a clue how to resolve this ? thx

    I'm working on a middle-tier project which encapsulates the business logic (uses a DAL layer, and serves a web application server [ASP.net]) of a product deployed in a LAN. The BL serves as a bunch of services and data objects that are invoked upon user action. At present times, the DAL acts as a separate application whereas the BL uses it, but is consumed by the web application as a DLL. Both the DAL and the web application are deployed on different servers inside organization, and since the BL DLL is consumed by the web application, it resides in the same server. The worst thing about exposing the BL as a DLL is that we lost track with what we expose. Deployment is not such a big issue since mostly, product versions are deployed together. Would you recommend migrating from DLL to WCF service? if so, why ? Do you know anyone who had a similar experience ?

    Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + .Net 3.5 + IIS 7.0. I have created a new web site and put an html file into the directory. And when I use browse function in IIS manager to browse the html file, I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong? BTW: I am very confused about unauthorized error since I run the worker process under administrator account. From the error message, I am confused why the logon method is anonymous and not using administrator account?   • Login box not shown on Ubuntu

    Hi, I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 (64bit) as a guest OS in VirtualBox, using Windows7 Professional (64bit) as host. After Ubuntu install, I did installed Xfce4 (sudo apt-get install xfce4). Logged in using a Xfce session, and when I logged out, I couldn't see the login box anymore, only the regular gnome background from login screen. Then I restarted the virtual machine, and now I'm not able to see the login box anymore, only the gnome background. Does someone knows how to solve this? Thanks in advance

  • Getting 0x80070043 error when accessing Samba share from Windows 7

    I created a Samba share on my new Ubuntu 10.04 machine. When I try to access it from a Windows 7 client, I get network error 0x80070043 (The network path not found). However, I get this error when I click on the share in the Windows Explorer, so it seems that Windows does find the path. I already enabled NTLMv1, disabled 128bit security and made sure that NetBIOS is running. I briefly disabled the Windows firewall, it didn't make a difference. What could be the problem?

  • Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

    I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on?   • Access All VLANS over XenServer Interface

    For my current setup, I have a physical NIC on a XenServer machine that receives traffic tagged with various VLAN IDs. I have a virtual machine that is running Vyatta that needs to be able to access both tagged and untagged traffic in order to route traffic. Here's the problem: 1) If I bind the NIC in XenCenter to the VM (which has no VLAN ID associated with it), the VM cannot see any tagged traffic. I have verified this using tcpdump. However, the tagged traffic is flowing into the XenServer machine perfectly fine. 2) I have more than 7 VLANs, so adding each VLAN as an interface within XenCenter isn't an option. 3) Even though tcpdump shows no tagged traffic coming in the VMs NIC, I have tried adding VLAN interfaces within Vyatta. This also doesn't work. I have tried using both Linux bridge and openvswitch setups and neither seem to work. I am running XenServer 6.0.3 free and Vyatta VC6.3. Please help! I've run out of ideas. I've googled for hours and can't seem to find anything.

    I want to connect using FTP to my webpage hosted on ipages.com , but I always get this error on filezilla.: Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters. Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 550 PWD: Permission denied Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted It looks like the connection is established but then disconnects. Is it an issue with the host? I use the default port 21. The user-pass is working. And the ftp adress is ftp.mysite.com I tested the port 21 using netstat and I get 220 Ipage FTP Server Ready
