  • Getting HTTP GET variables using Tipfy

    - by Vestonian
Hey everyone, I'm currently playing around with tipfy on Google's Appengine and just recently ran into a problem: I can't for the life of me find any documentation on how to use GET variables in my application, I've tried sifting through both tipfy and Werkzeug's documentations with no success. I know that I can use request.form.get('variable') to get POST variables and **kwargs in my handlers for URL variables, but that's as much as the documentation will tell me. Any ideas?

  • How/is data shared between fastCGI processes?

    - by Josh the Goods
I've written a simple perl script that I'm running via fastCGI on Apache. The application loads a set of XML data files which are used to lookup values based upon the the query parameters of an incoming request. As I understand it, if I want to increase the amount of concurrent requests my application can handle I need to allow fastCGI to spawn multiple processes. Will each of these processes have to hold duplicate copies of the XML data in memory? Is there a way to set things up so that I can have one copy of the XML data loaded in memory while increasing the capacity to handle concurrent requests?

  • django inner redirects

    - by Zayatzz
Hello I have one project that in my own development computer (uses mod_wsgi to serve the project) caused no problems. In live server (uses mod_fastcgi) it generates 500 though. my url conf is like this: # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- from django.conf.urls.defaults import * # Uncomment the next two lines to enable the admin: from django.contrib import admin admin.autodiscover() urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), url(r'^', include('jalka.game.urls')), ) and # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- from django.conf.urls.defaults import * from django.contrib.auth import views as auth_views urlpatterns = patterns('jalka.game.views', url(r'^$', view = 'front', name = 'front',), url(r'^ennusta/(?P<game_id>\d+)/$', view = 'ennusta', name = 'ennusta',), url(r'^login/$', auth_views.login, {'template_name': 'game/login.html'}, name='auth_login'), url(r'^logout/$', auth_views.logout, {'template_name': 'game/logout.html'}, name='auth_logout'), url(r'^arvuta/$', view = 'arvuta', name = 'arvuta',), ) and .htaccess is like that: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteOptions MaxRedirects=10 # RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} . • .htaccess with public folder

I have a directory structure with the following on localhost: http://localhost/testing/ A directory structure exists inside of testing as follows: /testing/public /testing/public/index.php /testing/public/img /testing/public/css ..etc for the js and swf directories A .htaccess file is inside the testing folder and the contents are as follows: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteBase /testing/ RewriteRule ^public$ public/ [R,QSA] RewriteRule ^public/$ public/index.php?state=public [L,QSA] RewriteRule ^stackoverflow$ stackoverflow/ [R,QSA] RewriteRule ^stackoverflow/$ public/index.php?state=stackoverflow[L,QSA] I am using PHP and inside of the /testing/public/index.php file I wanted to test that the $_GET['state'] is indeed saving the variable. When I try to test out: http://localhost/testing/public $_GET['state'] is not found at all BUT http://localhost/testing/stackoverflow does indeed echo out that $_GET['state'] equals 'stackoverflow'. What am I missing here??? Why is it that I cannot get the state=public in the first link? Thanks for the help!

  • Is there a /users/www-data type directory in RedHat/Fedora?

    - by Yarin
I'm trying to setup web2py on my Fedora server, and the instructions, written for Debian, are telling me to install it in the /users/www-data directory. I realize that Fedora uses a default 'apache' user for running Apache, and Debian uses a 'www-data' user, but there's no corresponding /users/apache directory on my machine... Here are the instructions http://web2py.com/book/default/section/11/2

  • mod_rewrite with question marks and ampersands (with PHP)

    - by Chris
I have a PHP-based web app that I'm trying to apply Apache's mod_rewrite to. Original URLs are of the form: http://example.com/index.php?page=home&x=5 And I'd like to transform these into: http://example.com/home?x=5 Note that while rewriting the page name, I'm also effectively "moving" the question mark. When I try to do this, Apache happily performs this translation: RewriteRule ^/([a-z]+)\?(.+)$ /index.php?page=$1&$2 [NC,L] But it messes up the $_GET variables in PHP. For example, a call to http://example.com/home?x=88 yields only one $_GET variable (page => home). Where did x => 88 go? However, when I change my rule to use an ampersand rather than a question mark: RewriteRule ^/([a-z]+)&(.+)$ /index.php?page=$1&$2 [NC,L] a call like http://example.com/home&x=88 will work just as I'd expect it to (i.e. both the page and x $_GET variables are set appropriately). The difference is minimal I know, but I'd like my URL variables to "start" with a question mark, if it's possible. I'm sure this reflects my own misunderstanding of how mod_rewrite redirects interact with PHP, but it seems like I should be able to do this (one way or another). Thanks in advance! Cheers, -Chris

  • remove multiple trailing slashes mod_rewrite

    - by Boyan
I know this question was asked a number of times on this site alone, but browsing through the relevant posts I couldn't find a solution. Trying to remove multiple trailing slashes after domain. The following mod_rewrite expressions seem to work for URLs such as http://www.domain.com//path1///path2////, but do not work for domain// DirectorySlash Off RewriteEngine on # Canonical fix RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.domain.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301] RewriteRule ^/main.do http://www.domain.com/ [R=301,L] RewriteRule ^/index.jsp http://www.domain.com/ [R=301,L] # Remove bogus query strings RewriteCond %{query_string} q= [NC] RewriteRule (.*) http://www.domain.com/$1? [R=301,L] # Remove multiple slashes after domain - DOESN'T WORK!!! #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^//+(.*)$ [OR] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.*/)/+$ #RewriteRule / http://www.domain.com/%1 [R=301,L] # Remove multiple slashes anywhere in URL RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.*)//(.*)$ RewriteRule . %1/%2 [R=301,L] # Externally redirect to get rid of trailing slash except for home page, ads RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/ads/ RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ $1 [R=301,L] Your help is appreciated.

  • Clean URLs mod_rewrite & wildcard subdomains

    - by Søren Zet
I got this url http://domain.com/blogs/directory-param with this rule RewriteBase /blogs/directory/ RewriteRule ^/blogs/directory-([A-Za-z0-9-]+)$ /blogs/directory/index.php?cat=$1 [L] so I get /blogs/directory/index.php?cat=param now my problem is the following: I use wildcards subdomains so every *.domain.com is mapped to domain.com/blogs/ for example soeren.domain.com is mapped to domain.com/blogs and so on... My problem now is I want a rule for soeren.domain.com/directory-param which points to domain.com/blogs/directory?index.php?cat=param Do you have any ideas?

  • Mod_rewrite shortening url .htaccess

    - by Peter
is there any way to hide redirected url, here is what I think: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}&force So the long redirected url http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} to something shorter like /mintedomain.com/track/ It is possible? Adrian edit: Andrew: This is a stats software Mint (haveamint.com) with File Download tracker plugin. The File Download tracker works in this way: in .htaccess every file (zip, rar, txt,...) is redirected to the tracker.php file (because the stats): http://mydomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} So the redirected url look like this for a zip file: http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://mydomain/downloads/apple.zip This redirected URL is very long and ugly. The best for me would be to redirect this redirected URL to something shorter URL: example: http://mydomain.com/track/downloads/apple.zip.. So the http://mydomain.com/track would be the http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php

  • stumped by WSGI module import errors

    - by rguha
Hi, I'm writing a bare bones Python wsgi application and am getting stumped by module import errors. I have a .py file in the current directory which initially failed to import. By adding sys.path.insert(0, '/Users/guhar/Sites/acom') the import of the module worked. But I now try and import a module that I had installed via easy_install and it fails to import. I tried setting sys.path.insert(0, '/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/') which contains the egg file, but to no avail. I would've thought that all packages under "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/" would be available to a WSGI application. Does anybody have any pointers?

  • Rails Beta3 & PaperClip & Passenger Bundler::PathError

    - by firecall
So I'm going around in circles with this - I'm using a fork of the Paperclip Rails gem to get it to work with Rails3. Works fine on my OSX box with Passenger. But on my server (CentOS 5) I get this this error: git://github.com/lmumar/paperclip.git (at rails3) is not checked out. Please runbundle install(Bundler::PathError)Blockquote I tried Bundle Pack, but that doesnt pack gems from github. I read a post about setting the parh to the BUNDLE_HOME in my application.rb file which I tried: ENV['BUNDLER_HOME']="~/.bundle/ruby/1.8/bundler/gems/" But that doesnt work. Any ideas anyone? I dont know what else to do and have no idea how to debug or trace the problem further :( Passenger version 2.2.11. thanks.

  • Subdomain URL Rewriting and Web Apps

    - by Igor K
So a lot of web apps have the customer choose their own subdomain, ie mycompany.webapp.com Presumably, every subdomain works off the same set of files and the unique subdomain is perhaps stored as a session object. So how does the URL rewriting work? If someone goes to mycompany.webapp.com, you have to rewrite their unique address to a dynamic page to set the session variable, ie webapp.com/mypage.php?cusomer=mycompany But then when you redirected, you'd be at webapp.com/theappdirectory/ and not mycompany.webapp.com/ So how do they do it?

  • DirectoryIndex not working because of mod_rewrite?

    - by Kjensen
Requests to www.domainname.com and domainname.com should display index.html, not index.php as it does now. This is the .htaccess file: # -FrontPage- IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti* # BEGIN WordPress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On # RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> # END WordPress I tried adding a DirectoryIndex index.html to the file, but that did not work. I suspect that has something to do with the mod_rewrite stuff, but being an apache-n00b I am really just grasping for straws. Can I add a rewriterule, or what should I do?

  • Does mod_php honor HEAD requests properly?

    - by rkulla
The HTTP/1.1 RFC stipulates "The HEAD method is identical to GET except that the server MUST NOT return a message-body in the response." I know Apache honors the RFC but modules don't have to. My question is, does mod_php5 honor this? The reason I ask is because I just came across an article saying that PHP developers should check this themselves with: if (stripos($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'], 'HEAD') !== FALSE) { exit(); } but seeing as how browsers send HEAD requests for cache checking it seems unlikely to me that no book, docs, etc., advise PHP developers to do this check. I googled a second and not much turned up, other than some people saying they try to strange things like mod_rewrite/redirect after getting HEAD requests and some old bug ticket from like 2002 claiming that mod_php still executed the rest of the script by default. So I just ran a quick test by using PECL::HTTP to run http_head('http://mysite.com/test-head-request.php'); while having: <?php error_log('REST OF SCRIPT STILL RAN'); ?> in test-head-request.php to see if the rest of the script still executed, and it didn't. I figure that should be enough to settle it, but want to get more feedback and maybe help clear up confusion for anyone else who has wondered about this. So if anyone knows off the top of their head (no pun intended) - or have any conventions they use for receiving HEAD requests, that'd be great. Otherwise, I'll grep the C source later and respond in a comment with my findings. Thanks.

The error I'm getting is "The requested URL /PUBLIC was not found on this server". Thanks.

  • mod_rewrite infinite loop problem

    - by ninuhadida
Hi guys, I've been trying to do the following with mod_rewrite on the server there is a file about.htm (which is found in the root directory of the domain) I need to redirect about.htm to about/ On the server still keep about.htm, hence when about/ is called, it actually loads up about.htm I tried something like this: RewriteRule ^about/$ about.htm [L] RewriteRule ^about\.htm$ about/ [R=302] I also tried changing it a bit and see what happends, but I always end up with an infinite loop of redirection or a 500 server error. Any idea why it's not working as intended? Thanks in advance!
