  • Is it possible to implement Separated Interface in PHP?

    - by sunwukung
I recently asked a question regarding the resolution of dependencies between Unit of Work and Data Mapper classes: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3012657/dependency-injection-and-unit-of-work-pattern - (which was answered by Gabor de Mooij - thx) In PoEAA, Martin Fowler suggests using Separated Interface to manage these dependencies. My question is simple - is it actually possible to implement this pattern in PHP, or is it specific to Java interfaces? I've searched high and low and it's hard to find references to this pattern anywhere outside of PoEAA.

  • What inspired WPF?

    - by Andrei Rinea
I was told by someon that, just as .NET started inspired from Java, WPF was inspired by a similar technology, as "Microsoft never innovates". However, I can't find anything remotely close to WPF. What particular technology did or could have inspired Microsoft to write WPF?

  • What "exotic" language feature do you use every day?

    - by fmark
For most programmers using procedural or object-oriented languages there is a language-feature lowest common denominator: variables, procedures, standard control structures, and classes. However, almost all languages add features on top of this. Recent C# versions have LINQ and delegates. C++ has template metaprogramming. Java has annotations. What features such as these do you use every day?

  • Hidden features of Clojure

    - by danlei
Which lesser-known but useful features of Clojure do you find yourselves using? Feel free to share little tricks and idioms, but try to restrict yourselves to Core and Contrib. I found some really interesting information in answers to these similar questions: Hidden features of Haskell Hidden features of Python Hidden features of Java Hidden features of C There are many more "Hidden feature" questions for other languages, so I thought it would be nice to have one for Clojure, too.

Positive number (animate down)-- $("div#container div#history-menu").animate({top:'180px'}, 600); Negative number (animate up)-- $("div#container div#history-menu").animate({top:'-180px'}, 600); Because I'm getting a java error in my error console that says: "error in parsing value for property 'top'. • Financial Charts / Graphs in Ruby or Python

    - by Eric the Red
What are my best options for creating a financial open-high-low-close (OHLC) chart in a high level language like Ruby or Python? While there seem to be a lot of options for graphing, I haven't seen any gems or eggs with this kind of chart. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-high-low-close_chart (but I don't need the moving average or Bollinger bands) JFreeChart can do this in Java, but I'd like to make my codebase as small and simple as possible. Thanks!
