  • ASP.NET MVC Page - hyper links in HTML.ValidationSummary

    - by Rita
    Hi I have Registration page and if the validation fails, it displays the error messages using HTML.ValidationSummary control. Now i have to display the Hyperlink in that Validation Error Message. But it is treating href also as string. The Validation Message that I am trying to display with hyperlink is: **"User already exists in the system, please <a href='../Login.aspx'>login</a>"** Appreciate your responses. Here is my Code: <% using (Html.BeginForm()) {%> <%= Html.ValidationSummary(false) %> <fieldset> <div class="cssform">; <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.email)%><em>*</em> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.email, new { @class = "required email" })%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.email)%> </p> <p> <%= Html.Label("Confirm email")%><em>*</em> <%= Html.TextBox("confirm_email")%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("confirm_email") %> </p> <p> <%= Html.Label("Password")%><em>*</em> <%= Html.Password("Password", null, new { @class = "required" })%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("Password")%><br /> (Note: Password should be minimum 6 characters) </p> <p> <%= Html.Label("Confirm Password")%><em>*</em> <%= Html.Password("confirm_password")%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("confirm_password") %> </p><hr /> <% } %

  • ASP.NET MVC Class level custom data-annotation and ModelState keys

    - by Neil
Hi, I have custom class level validation attribute, inheriting from ValidationAttribute, on my model. How come it doesn't register a key in the ModelState when its IsValid is false? I can see the the error message in the ModelState.Values collection, but the ModelState.Keys collection only shows an empty string "". Can I provide a key for it - presumably this is because its not assigned to a property? I wanna be able to use ModelState.Remove in my controller to remove this error upon a certain condition, but I have no Key! Any ideas?

How would you use Html.ActionLink when creating a link to the View page?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 - ViewModel Prefix

    - by Cosmo
    I want to use RenderPartial twice in my view with different models associated. The problem is that some properties are present in both models (nickname, password). They have no prefix, so even the id's or names are equal in the output. Now, if I have model errors for nickname or password, both fields get highlighted. Main View: <div> <% Html.RenderPartial("Register", Model.RegisterModel); %> </div> <div> <% Html.RenderPartial("Login", Model.LoginModel); %> </div> Login PartialView: <% using (Html.BeginForm("Login", "Member")) { %> <fieldset> <legend>Login</legend> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(x => x.Nickname) %> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Nickname) %> </p> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(x => x.Password) %> <%= Html.PasswordFor(x => x.Password) %> </p> <input type="submit" value="Login" /> </fieldset> <% } % Register PartialView: <% using (Html.BeginForm("Register", "Member")) { %> <fieldset> <legend>Register</legend> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(x => x.Nickname) %> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Nickname) %> </p> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(x => x.Email) %> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Email) %> </p> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(x => x.Password) %> <%= Html.PasswordFor(x => x.Password) %> </p> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(x => x.PasswordRepeat) %> <%= Html.PasswordFor(x => x.PasswordRepeat) %> </p> <input type="submit" value="Register" /> </fieldset> <% } % How can I change this?

  • ASP MVC2 model binding issue on POST

    - by Brandon Linton
So I'm looking at moving from MVC 1.0 to MVC 2.0 RTM. One of the conventions I'd like to start following is using the strongly-typed HTML helpers for generating controls like text boxes. However, it looks like it won't be an easy jump. I tried migrating my first form, replacing lines like this: <%= Html.TextBox("FirstName", Model.Data.FirstName, new {maxlength = 30}) %> ...for lines like this: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Data.FirstName, new {maxlength = 30}) %> Previously, this would map into its appropriate view model on a POST, using the following method signature: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Registration(AccountViewInfo viewInfo) Instead, it currently gets an empty object back. I believe the disconnect is in the fact that we pass the view model into a larger aggregate object that has some page metadata and other fun stuff along with it (hence x.Data.FirstName instead of x.FirstName). So my question is: what is the best way to use the strongly-typed helpers while still allowing the MVC framework to appropriately cast the form collection to my view-model as it does in the original line? Is there any way to do it without changing the aggregate type we pass to the view? Thanks!

  • Standard way to persist data between requests in ASP.NET-MVC

    - by Nate Bross
What is the most standard or best way to persist data between requests? Should I use cookies or session variables? I'm interested in keeping data like sort order, sort column, and page number (for paginiation). I'm coming from a webforms background so normally this type of thing was automatically handled for me in the viewstate of the controls I was using.

  • ASP.NET MVC Route Default values

    - by Sadegh
hi, i defined two routes in global.asax like below context.MapRoute("HomeRedirect", "", new { controller = "Home", action = "redirect" }); context.MapRoute("UrlResolver", "{culture}/some", new { culture = "en-gb", controller = "someController", action = "someAction" }, new { culture = new CultureRouteConstraint() }); according to above definition, when user request mysite.com/ redirect action of HomeController should be called and in that: public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Redirect() { return RedirectToRoute("UrlResolver"); } } i want to redirect user to second defined route on above, so also i specified default values for that and some Constraint for each of those. but when RedirectToRoute("UrlResolver") turns, no default values passed to routeConstraints on second route and No route in the route table matches the supplied values shows. update my CultureRouteConstraint: public class CultureRouteConstraint : IRouteConstraint { bool IRouteConstraint.Match(HttpContextBase httpContext, Route route, string parameterName, RouteValueDictionary values, RouteDirection routeDirection) { try { var parameter = values[parameterName] as string; return (someCondition(parameter)); } catch { return false; } } } now values parameter haven't culture key/value, but route parameter have that.

  • Embedded BI for ASP.NET

    - by Michael Shimmins
Can anyone recommend a decent business intelligence & reporting application that can be integrated into an OEM application? Primary requirements are: Administrators can define cubes/dimensions etc (or we - the OEM - can predefine some) Report designers can easily inspect data by visually selecting dimensions, filters etc in an adhoc way that is quickly output with little upfront investment Report designers can design a report based on dimensions/filters and save their definition to be run as required Report viewers can view the reports defined by the report designers All of this plus in .NET that can be branded/integrated into our existing web application's look and feel. Permissions need to work off our user/groups system. I've found a few that look good, but they are all in Java and I don't want to ask our clients to install ASP.NET for the app, and then Java, tomcat etc just for reporting. Thanks

  • ASP.Net MVC Keeping action parameters between postbacks

    - by Matt
Say I have a page that display search results. I search for stackoverflow and it returns 5000 results, 10 per page. Now I find myself doing this when building links on that page: <%=Html.ActionLink("Page 1", "Search", new { query=ViewData["query"], page etc..%> <%=Html.ActionLink("Page 2", "Search", new { query=ViewData["query"], page etc..%> <%=Html.ActionLink("Page 3", "Search", new { query=ViewData["query"], page etc..%> <%=Html.ActionLink("Next", "Search", new { query=ViewData["query"], page etc..%> I dont like this, I have to build my links with careful consideration to what was posted previously etc.. What I'd like to do is <%=Html.BuildActionLinkUsingCurrentActionPostData ("Next", "Search", new { Page = 1}); where the anonymous dictionary overrides anything currently set by previous action. Essentially I care about what the previous action parameters were, because I want to reuse, it sounds simple, but start adding sort and loads of advance search options and it starts getting messy. Im probably missing something obvious

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM - favicon not displayed in Internet Explorer

    - by hungster
I have the following two lines in the head section in my masterpage: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <link rel="icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/ico" /> However, the favicon is not displayed in Internet Explorer (version 6, 7, 8). In Firefox and Safari the favicon works fine. I have even tried to replace href with the URL to my website (http://www......./Content/Images/favicon.ico) but that still does not work in Internet Explorer. Am I missing something?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 Post AJAX from from JavaScript

    - by ANDyW
Hi, I got control with strongly typed View, with Ajax.BeginForm(). Now I would like to change submit method from <input type="submit" id="testClick" value="Submit" /> To some javascript method DoSubmit(). What I tried is : Invoke click on that submit button Invoke submit on form ('form1').submit(), document.forms['form1'].submit() jQuery forms with ('form1').AjaxSubmit(); Create jQuery AJAX $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: $("#form1").attr("action"), data: $("#form1").serialize(), success: function() { alert("epic win!!!1!1!") }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert("epic fail!") } }); All those method created normal request (not AJAX), or they didn't work. So anyone know how I can do AJAX submit "Form", from JavaScript and strongly typed mechanism (public AcrionResult MyFormAction(FormModel model); ) will work?

  • trying to decide between asp.net and jsp

    - by Amir
Hey Guys, I am wondering if anyone can shed some lights on the situation. I am about to start a project and trying to figure out what solution is best to go with asp.net or java jsp pages I have personally worked alot with .net and am really happy with the framework and Visual studio as IDE I find it easy to work with and there is a massive community support behind .net, i can get alot done quickly I have not every written anything use java jsp, there will be a learning curve here , so my experience is limited here. however after seeing jira i am very impressed with its capabilities, it has changed alot since the old days ( java 1.2 ) that i used to work with, and the fact that it runs under linux is a huge plus, so i am trying to decide is the learning curve, worth the price ? so given the situation above what would you recommended? Thanks, Amir

  • ASP.NET MVC: ModelState vs. ModelStateDictionary

    - by Alex
Hello, I have a service which has a method that's called when a certain controller method is triggered. My service returns a custom result object PlacementResult in which I want to communicate errors that may have happened (validation) back to the controller method. Should PlacementResult have a ModelState or a ModelStateDictionary to communicate errors back to the controller (and finally view)? How would I string this together? Finally, how do I get the ModelState/ModelStateDictionary (whichever you tell me I should choose) back into the view (highlighting the appropriate text box, show the error message etc.)? Thank you !

  • [ASP.NET MVC] Ajax.BeginForm doesn't work asynchronously

    - by Tony
Hi, I've read the article http://davidhayden.com/blog/dave/archive/2009/05/19/ASPNETMVCAjaxBeginForm.aspx and now I have small problem with that code: <%using (Ajax.BeginForm("ChangeData", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "myLabel" })) { %> <input id="mbutton" type="submit" value="blabla" /> <%} %> <label id="myLabel"></label> then, in the MyBookController.cs is the code to be invoked asynchronous: public ActionResult ChangeData() { return Content("OK"); } but, it doesn't work asynchronously, the compiler doesn't go inside that method

  • ASP.Net MVC: "Random" URLs getting generated by URL.Action

    - by Daniel Magliola
I have 2 very similar routes, just because i'm trying to generate two different URLs for the same resource (same Controller/Action), and both are very similar. These are the routes definitions: routes.MapRoute("Post2.Mp3", "sites/{siteSlug}/post/{brand}/aconstant-{slug}.mp3", new { controller = "Posts", action = "Mp3" }, new { siteSlug = @"[A-Za-z0-9-_]+", slug = @"[^(aconstant\-)][A-Za-z0-9-_]+", brand = @"[A-Za-z0-9-_]+" }); routes.MapRoute("Post.Mp3", "sites/{siteSlug}/post/{slug}.mp3", new { controller = "Posts", action = "Mp3" }, new { siteSlug = @"[A-Za-z0-9-_]+", slug = @"[A-Za-z0-9-_]+" }); "brand" is going to be my site name, which is the same as "aconstant" in those routes. Now, if I try this: Url.Action("ShowMp3", "Posts", new { siteSlug = post.Site.Slug, slug = post.Slug, origin = "origfeedwithaudio", brand = "aconstant" }) sometimes I get the URL I expect: /sites/site-Name/post/aconstant/aconstant-post-Name.mp3 but sometimes, I get this: /sites/site-Name/post/post-Name.mp3?brand=aconstant By sometimes, I mean that different sets of "slugs" give me one or the other. I haven't seen the same set of slugs give me different URLs. I haven't found any reasonable rule for when i'm getting one or the other, it seems random. What is going on here? How can I be getting different URLs based on esentially the same arguments? Thanks! Daniel

  • ASP .NET MVC; return HTML along with JavaScript

    - by effkay
I have a partial view which renders a table. On page load, I am using JQuery to perform Zebra Stripping on it. Whenever ajax refreshes the table, DOM elements are updated, but since JQuery code to do the Zebra Stripping is not executed; table looks ugly. I have tried adding Javascript in my partial view if( Request.IsAjaxRequest() ) return PartialView( "AdministrationGrid", Users ); but javascript is not executed. I guess the only way to execute the Javascript as reply is to do: return JavaScript( "alert( '' )" ); Anyone with an idea how can I achieve this? I thought about JQuery Live, but it is used to bind itself to events.
