• SetSel on EN_SETFOCUS or WM_SETFOCUS doesn't work

  I've ran into next mystic thing in Winapi/MFC, I have an edit box, contents of which I have to select on Tab, Lclick, Rclick, Mclick and so on. The sort of obvious path is to handle the SETFOCUS message and call SetSel(0, -1), which should select all text. But it doesn't work! What's wrong? I tried googling, everyone seems to override Lclilks or handle SetSel in parent windows, but this is wrong from encapsulation point of view, also multiple clicks (user wants to insert something in the middle of the text) will break, and so on. Why isn't my approach working, I tried like 10 different ways, tried to trap all possible focus messages, looked up info on MSDN, but nothing works as expected. Also, I need to recreate the carret on focus, which also doesn't seem to work. SETFOCUS message gets trapped alright. If I add __asm int 3, it breaks every time. It's the create carret and setsel that gets swallowed it seems.

  I need to create an AR migration for a table of image files. The images are being checked into the source tree, and should act like attachment_fu files. That being the case, I'm creating a hierarchy for them under /public/system. Because of the way attachment_fu generates links, I need to use the directory naming convention to insert primary key values. How do I override the auto-increment in MySQL as well as any Rails magic so that I can do something like this: image = Image.create(:id => 42, :filename => "foo.jpg") image.id #=> 42

• createChildren Called Before Component's MXML Bracket Logic Is Evaluated

  I have the following MXML: <mx:Script> var someBoolean:Boolean = determineSomeCondition(); </mx:Script> .... <foo:MyComponent somePropertyExpectingIDataRenderer="{ someBoolean ? new Component1ThatImplementsIDataRenderer() : new Component2ThatImplementsIDataRenderer() }"> </foo:MyComponent> I have also overridden the createChildren() function: override protected function createChildren():void { super.createChildren(); //do something with somePropertyExpectingIDataRenderer } My problem is: createChildren() is being called before the squiggly bracket logic is being evaluated, so in createChildren(), somePropertyExpectingIDataRenderer is null. However if I pass the component via MXML like this: <foo:MyComponent> <bar:somePropertyExpectingIDataRenderer> <baz:Component1ThatImplementsIDataRenderer/> </bar:somePropertyExpectingIDataRenderer> </foo:MyComponent> Then when createChildren() is called, that same property isn't null. Is this supposed to happen and if so, what other workarounds should I consider?

• Android OpenGl Renderer finish event

  In OpenGL Renderer onDrawFrame is called several time, until the page is completely rendered. I cannot find an event that my page is completeley rendered in order to take a snapshot of the OpenGL page and animate it. I have the solution to take snapshot on at the animation trigger (specific button), but this will imply a specific delay, until Bitmap is created, such as i would like to keep in memory a mutable copy of every page. Do you know other way to animate GLSurfaceView with rendered content? • JPanel Layout Image Cutoff

  I am adding images to a JPanel but the images are getting cut off. I was originally trying BorderLayout but that only worked for one image and adding others added image cut-off. So I switched to other layouts and the best and closest I could get was BoxLayout however that adds a very large cut-off which is not acceptable either. So basically; How can I add images (from a custom JComponent) to a custom JPanel without bad effects such as the one present in the code. The problem is that the renderer does not contain data, neither does the widget. And I'd really hate to mess with Field and BoundField. I need this to inject html before/after each radiobutton and I'd like it to be done in the template. From the code it would be easy. Any ideas are welcome.

• jQuery - Trigger click event on links with spacebar?

  It looks like in most browsers, an <input type="submit"> treats both [spacebar] and [enter] as a click, but an <a> link only treats [enter] as a click. My app uses a number of links formatted to simulate buttons, so a user that is accustomed to tabbing to a button and pressing [spacebar] will be frustrated. • Can't resignFirstResponder with UITextView

  I have a UITextView. I implemented a navigationBar UIBarButtonItem to respond to a touch and resign the firstResponder for my UITextView. But, when the selector method is called, the keyboard doesn't get dismissed. I checked the UITextView's responder status with isFirstResponder and it returns YES. I also checked it with canResignFirstResponder and the return value is NO. I must be missing something here...why is it returning NO? I get that I can override canResignFirstResponder by subclassing UITextView, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.   hi, i have a ListView, whose content should not be selectable. i set the ListView to choiceMode="none" and set a transparent listSelector. for touch mode it acts as desired. a problem is the use of the trackball. if i try to use it for scrolling, the scroll starts after the 10th push to "down". this is caused by the invisible listSelector, which scrolls down the list until the 10th list item is "invisibily" selected. i try to override dispatchTrackballEvent and do the scrolling with scrollBy, but i did not finished this approach yet, to have a look on alternative suggestions. is there a simple solution for my problem?

  I would like to create a TextBox that only accepts numeric values, in a specific range. What is the best way to implement such TextBox? I thought about deriving TextBox and to override the validation and coercion of the TextProperty. However, I am not sure how to do this, and I understand that deriving WPF control is generally not recommended. Edit: What I needed was a very basic textbox that filters out all key presses which are not digits. • Alternative to COM blind aggregation in .NET for class with private interface

  When extending a COM class in unmanaged C++ where the original class has private interfaces, one way to do this is through the concept of blind aggregation. The idea is that any interface not explicitly implemented on the outer aggregating class is 'blindly' forwarded to the inner aggregated class. Now .NET as far as I can figure out does not support COM aggregation natively. A somewhat tedious workaround is to create a .NET class where you implement all the required COM interfaces directly on the .NET class and simply forward to an instance of the actual COM class for any methods you don't want to override. The problem I have is when the original COM object has one or more private interfaces, i.e. undocumented interfaces that are nonetheless used by some consumers of the original class. Using blind aggregation in unmanaged C++ this is a non-issue as the calls to the private interfaces are automatically forwarded to the original class, however I can't find any way of doing the same thing in .NET. Are there any other ways of accomplishing this with .NET?

• Multiple lines of text to a single map

  I've been trying to use Hadoop to send N amount of lines to a single mapping. I don't require for the lines to be split already. I've tried to use NLineInputFormat, however that sends N lines of text from the data to each mapper one line at a time [giving up after the Nth line]. I have tried to set the option and it only takes N lines of input sending it at 1 line at a time to each map: job.setInt("mapred.line.input.format.linespermap", 10); I've found a mailing list recommending me to override LineRecordReader::next, however that is not that simple, as that the internal data members are all private. I've just checked the source for NLineInputFormat and it hard codes LineReader, so overriding will not help. Also, btw I'm using Hadoop 0.18 for compatibility with the Amazon EC2 MapReduce.
