  • How to re-join an AD2003 domain with Samba after deleting the machine account?

    During some troubleshooting I deleted the machine account for a Linux server running samba from our AD 2003 domain. We are using Kerberos for authentication, and after I deleted the machine account I tried to join the domain again using net ads join -U Administrator But I keep getting Kerberos errors like these: [2009/08/18 16:14:36, 0] libads/kerberos.c:ads_kinit_password(228) kerberos_kinit_password [email protected] failed: Client not found in Kerberos database Failed to join domain: Improperly formed account name It appears as if samba remembers that it once had an account with the AD and keeps trying to reconnect to it, but I want to create a new account from scratch. I tried to delete all the .tdb files I could find as well as everything under /var/cache/samba but to no avail - it still behaves the same. I also tried to create the machine account on the AD side, but then I get a similar error when I try to join, about failure to authenticate with the machine account - it looks like samba tries the previous machine account password and I don't know how to reset it, or even if I could figure out what samba uses - how to set it in the AD. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as at this point the only thing I can think about is to reformat and reinstall the machine, and I would really REALLY love to not do that. Thanks in advance.

  • CruiseControl.Net - not able to see Project Statistics

    Hi all, I've made a reinstallation of the buildserver and can no longer see the standard graphs of project statistics. The error message shown is "Missing/Invalid statistics reports. Please check if you have enabled the Statistics Publisher, and statistics have been collected atleast once after that." To the best of my knowledge, the ccnet.config file has not been changed in this respect and by inspection it is verified that I have a Statistics / statisticsList-section for the project. Furthermore, the values appear in the Artifacts\statistics.csv and Artifacts\report.xml files. My guess would then be StatisticsGraph.xslt, which I have copied fresh from distribution to both Server\xlst and WebDashboard\xslt (why are they located in both places, by the way!?). Rebuild and check - still same error message. Any hints to how to debug this would be appreciated!

    I'm trying to compile Midnight Commander on a KUbuntu 9.10 (Karmic) box with no root access. I've set up a directory under $HOME, downloaded the mc source package and various stuff required for building, such as autotools. I've unpacked the CONTENTS of all those packages into this working directory such that I have the usual ./usr, ./lib, ./etc hierarchy. I manage to get configure through a lot of tests, but I can't seem to fool it into finding glib. checking for glib-2.0... checking for glib-config... no checking for glib12-config... no checking for glib-config... no checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.6... no *** The glib-config script installed by GLIB could not be found *** If GLIB was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in *** your path, or set the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable to the *** full path to glib-config. configure: error: Test for glib failed. GNU Midnight Commander requires glib 1.2.6 or above. My system has glib installed: /lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 /lib/libglib-2.0.so.0.2200.3 ... and I've also downloaded and unpacked the glib package into my working directory: libglib2.0-0_2.22.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb libglib2.0-dev_2.22.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb ... but still the elusive glib-config is nowhere to be found. It's not in any debian package for Karmic, either. So I'd appreciate any help getting over this hurdle. Please note, again, that I don't have root, so I can't just merrily apt-get stuff.

While the transitions (builds) and actions are nice, how are you supposed to work with several objects if the previously edited objects are still being displayed in the original state, thus obstructing the view on new elements that I would like to display later? Is there a way to step through the builds like in presentation mode?

  • How to migrate user settings and data to new machine?

    I'm new to Ubuntu and recently started using it on my PC. I'm going to replace that PC with a new machine. I want to transfer my data and settings to the nettop. What aspects should I consider? Obviously I want to move my data over. What things am I missing if I only copy the entire home folder? This is a home pc (not corporate) so user rights and other security issues are not a concern, except that the files should be accessible on the new machine! Please take into account that the new machine is a nettop that doesn't have an optical drive and doesn't allow me to hook the old SATA disk into it, so any data transfer must be handled via home network (I can have both the old and the new machine turned on and connected to the home LAN) and I have an USB thumbdrive with limited capacity (2GB). This sounds like it might limit the general applicability, but it would in fact make it more general. I'll make this a wiki topic because there could be several "right" answers. Update: Or so I thought. I don't see a choice for that.

    I'm new to building my own computers and I was wondering about maximum temperatures. I understand that the room temp can affect the computers temp but how relevent is it? I understand that if my room temp is 20°C none of my computer parts could be lower than that. But if my room is 27°C instead of 20°C would this cause my computers parts to heat up more/faster? My new computer I built myself for gaming is i7 2600k 16gb ram ddr3 1600 hd6970 2 gb 240gb ssd ( bought a nas with 3 2tb drives in raid 5 for my home network ) 850w modular psu I also have my old hp computer i3 2120 8gb ram hd6770 1tb hdd I also have 3 laptops in my household, but I am not worried about their temps, they heat up my legs but they are never under stress. Due to size and money reasons I used an old case and it only has one of the sides left on it. Is this bad for the computer and will the extra dust cause problems? Or should I leave it this way or take the missus wrath and buy a case? If so is there any certain case I should get? I don't care about looks I just want card reader and usb slots and for it to run as cool or cooler than now, my case has 1 fan. Also what are the max temps for my new and old computer parts? Is 40°C under load ok for my CPU, what about 70°C for my GPU is that ok too, or should I worry? What are normal and safe temps for my components? I have looked around but there seem to be lots of different answers. I know that 100°C is bad but I want my parts to last as long as possible and this site always seems to give good replies without arguing or flaming.

    With a Mikrotik router (form of embedded Linux) I have created simple queues per machine matched by source IP address. Each of the 4 machine queues has an unlimited burst 3Mbps/3Mbps for Tx/Rx. During speedtest.net on all 4 machines at the same time, each machine shows 3Mbps (and is limited correctly there), however the total bandwidth on the uplink goes to 12Mbps (i need to set this to 10Mbps max for the upstream). I want to restrict the actual traffic passing across the uplink port to 10Mbps regardless of what the other queues are doing (I need this catch all queue to have the final say on the uplink speed). For example I need: Scenario A Machine A transferring @ 3Mbps Machine B transferring @ 3Mbps Machine C transferring @ 3Mbps Machine D transferring @ 0Mbps Up-link speed = 9Mbps Scenario B Machine A trying to transfer @ 3Mbps Machine B trying to transfer @ 3Mbps Machine C trying to transfer @ 3Mbps Machine D trying to transfer @ 3Mbps Up-link speed = 10Mbps Actual transfer speed of machine A,B,C,D = 2.5Mbps This is to allow slight over subscription of bandwidth queues as not all will be transmitting at 3Mbps all the time. Is this possible and if so how would one go about doing this?

Verbose: I am using the Time Machine backup on my OS X (Snow Leopard) to backup the whole computer to an external drive. I especially like the "history", i.e. the feature that allows you to restore the older version of a file. Problem: I had some data corruption on my external backup drive, I repaired it with the System Tool for doing that, it found some faults. I had the disk tool repair the external drive. After that, the external drive was OK and I could use Time Machine again. I let Time Machine do one more backup. Now I made a verification according to http://superuser.com/questions/47628/verifying-time-machine-backups, namely along sudo diff -qr . $HOME/Desktop 2>&1 | tee $HOME/timemachine-diff.log However: After doing the command above, several differences and missing files were reported, approx. 200 files in sum. Whereas some of the missing files were cache or excluded directories, the differences do bother me, especially as some important documents from me are listed as differing. How can I make sure that the data on the external drive is synced correctly? Is it possible to have Time Machine to do a complete new backup without losing the history? Or to have Time Machine compare all files for differences and re-write all files that are different? Or can I set some flags on the files that do not match to have them copied again? (like the archive-flag in Windows/Dos). I'd rather not touch the files because I would like to keep the date of last change/date of creation) Thank you for your thoughts!

  • Getting a "CPU over temperature error", but temperatures seem to be normal

    I built a PC with the following parts: CPU: i5-2500 Motherboard: Asus P8H67-M EVO rev 3.0 RAM: G-Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 Video: GTX 560-Ti 1GB I used a crappy (but functioning) old case and a 500W Powercooler supply. The rig also includes 3 HDs and a DVD-RW. Whenever I push the system mildly it resets right away (looks more like power off/power on) and gives me a "CPU over temperature error". However, BIOS always reports <65ºC for the CPU at the moment of the reset, same as Core Temp and RealTemp. This is RealTemp's log since launching BF3 until the reset (just over 1 minute, as you can see) Just to be sure I've checked the CPU cooler and re-applied the thermal paste twice, but nothing changed. I'm not overclocking at all. What am I missing here? Could it be that the old power supply is generating this error? Maybe the mobo isn't reporting temperatures correctly? I don't have a clue on how to troubleshoot this, help Thanks in advance!

    The explanation I was recently hired by a company that has an old RoR 2.3 application with more than 100k users, a strong SEO strategy with more than 170k indexed urls, native android and ios applications and other custom-made mobile and web applications that rely on a not so good API from the same RoR app. They recently merged with a company from another country as an strategy to grow the business and the profit. They have almost the same stats, a similar strategy and mobile apps. We have just decided that we need to merge the data from both companies and to start a new app from scratch since the RoR app is to old and heavily patched and the app from the other company was built with a custom PHP framework without any documentation. The only good news is that both databases are in MySQL and have a similar structure. The challenge I need to build a new version that: can handle a lot of traffic, preserves the SEO strategies of both companies, serve 2 different domains, and have a strong API that can support legacy mobile apps from both companies and be ready for a new set of native apps. I want to use RoR 3.2 for the main web apps and NodeJs with a Restful API. I know that I need to be very careful with the mobile apps and handle multiple versions of the API. I also think that I need to create a service that can handle a lot IO request since the apps is heavily used to create orders for restaurants at a certain time of the day. The questions With all this in mind: What type of architecture do you recommend me to follow? What gems or node packages do you think will work the best? How do I build a new rails app and keep using the same database structure? Should I use NodeJS to build an API or just build a new service with Ruby? I know that I'm asking to much from you guys, but please help me by answering any topic that you can or by pointing me on the right direction. So, my Python 2.5 has MySQLdb installed and working just fine because I installed the python-mysqldb package.     I'm not sure how to fix this or what I did wrong, but whenever I enter in a value it just closes out the run prompt. So, seems I do have a problem somewhere in my coding.   • Need help with android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT and SharedPreferences

    I have a main activity where I call VersionSettings vs = new VersionSettings(this); if (vs.firstRun2()) vs.versionCheckbox(); What I'm trying to do is set a checkbox (checkboxVideoType) to an unchecked state if the Android version is 1.6-2.1 I only want to do this the very first time the app is ever run, it never needs to run again. I think I'm running into the problem when the main activity calls versionCheckbox(), I get a force close if it attempts to run the code inside that is going to set the checkbox to false. I'm very new to programming and would really appreciate some help with this. I think I'm close, but need a push. Thanks in advance!   • How to programmatically add x509 certificate to local machine store using c#

    I understand the question title may be a duplicate but I have not found an answer for my situation yet so here goes; I have this simple peice of code // Convert the Filename to an X509 Certificate X509Certificate2 cert = new X509Certificate2(certificateFilePath); // Get the server certificate store X509Store store = new X509Store(StoreName.TrustedPeople, StoreLocation.LocalMachine); store.Open(OpenFlags.MaxAllowed); store.Add(cert); // x509 certificate created from a user supplied filename But keep being presented with an "Access Denied" exception. I have read some information that suggests using StorePermissions would solve my issue but I don't think this is relevant in my code. Having said that, I did test it to to be sure and I couldn't get it to work. I also found suggestions that changing folder permissions within Windows was the way to go and while this may work(not tested), it doesn't seem practical for what will become distributed code. I also have to add that as the code will be running as a service on a server, adding the certificates to the current user store also seems wrong. Is there anyway to programmatically add a certificate into the local machine store?

    I installed the Feb 2010 WPF Toolkit as I'm interested in evaluating the AutoCompleteBox control and I'm having extremely limited success. I can get the control to work, but as soon as I try and set any of it's properties in XAML, I get the following: Unknown build error, 'Cannot resolve dependency to assembly 'WPFToolkit, Version=3.5.40128.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' because it has not been preloaded. When using the ReflectionOnly APIs, dependent assemblies must be pre-loaded or loaded on demand through the ReflectionOnlyAssemblyResolve event. I've been testing this on a blank WPF window in a new solution. I'm guessing I'm just missing a reference or something... Here's the XAML (I've added nothing to the .xaml.cs): <Window x:Class="WpfToolkitApplication.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:toolkit="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Input.Toolkit" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <toolkit:AutoCompleteBox Height="25"/> </Grid> </Window> The only reference I've added is System.Windows.Controls.Input.Toolkit.     Hi, I'm totally lost on how to build Google's breakpad. There is a sln file, but it depends on a library that doesn't seem to have an associated sln. It seems to use something called gyp that I haven't figured out how to get working.
