• How do I bridge connections in windows 7?

  At work, our ISP has gone down, 3 days running. A company next door has kindly provided us with access to their wireless network, and I'd like to get our internal mail server (win 7) to become online via that wireless connection, while being accessible from within the LAN, but I'm struggling with the windows configuration. Our company's LAN subnet (wired interface) sits on 192.168.0. Neighbour's wireless subnet 192.168.1. I've tried bridging the connections but that disconnects the mail server from the Internet connection and the LAN. what do I have to do achieve this networking configuration? Kind regards, Wolfgang

• WPA Enterprise Wireless Bridge

  I live in college housing at a university with wifi available. unfortunately, my bedroom(where I'd like to place my PC) gets little to no reception. I'd like to place a router in the strongest spot and rebroadcast. I understand this can be done with DD-WRT/etc, but this particular network is WPA Enterprise with my own personal username/password. I can't find any concrete evidence that I can get my router to act as a repeater for this encryption. I don't currently have a router to test it on, otherwise this would be easy, I just don't want to buy a router if it will be worthless to me. Thanks for your help

• How do I choose which Ethernet Adapter to bridge in VMPlayer

  I am running vmplayer 3.1.0 on Ubuntu. The host machine has four ethernet adapters that are configured to run on four different subnets. I need to run four VMs each with a single ethernet adapter bridged onto a specific one of the physical ethernet adapters. Does anyone know how to do this? Am I simply exceeding the capabilities of vmplayer and have to go to one of the other vmware products, if so, which one. Note that I have no need to create additional VMs, these are VMs that are being given to me by companies that want us to develop software for their products.

  I have 2 Linksys WRT54GL routers flashed with DD-WRT. On each I have a different ISP, and thus a different private network. I would like to be able to talk to either network regardless of what network I am on. Example: ISP1 - Router1 - Client ISP2 - Router2 - Client What I would like to do is something like: ISP1 - Router1 - Client              ^              |              v ISP2 - Router2 - Client This would be ideally because then I don't need to introduce another device in the mix, unless I have to. But I guess the first question is - is this even possible?

Also the public IP address will be configured directly on the machine,,, so we will not translate private/public IP addresses. If we use NAT,, we would have to translate the public IP on the WAN to the public IP on the LAN. The only security feature I expect on the gateway is an access list. I don't really know much about networking, so I am sorry if this question is generic.

  I have the following setup: subnet 1 - 10.0.1.0/24 with a machine used as NAT and also running an OpenVPN client subnet 2 - 192.168.1/24 with an OpenVPN server (the server in subnet 1 connect here) subnet 3 - 10.0.2.0/24 that uses the NAT machine (subnet 1) to access the internet, so all non-local traffic is routed there to the eth0 interface The OpenVPN client creates the tun0 interface and appropriate routing so that I can access machines from 192.168.1/24 [root@ip-10-0-1-208 ~]# telnet 192.168.1.186 8081 Trying 192.168.1.186... What's the easiest way to resolve it? I don't want to use iptables. I can't change the routing from machines in subnet 1 because it's done in AWS and so it works only with specific interfaces. • Router used as ethernet bridge wont show up

  I have a Netgear router in my living room that has the wireless signal. It is connected to a Powerline plug that goes up to my bedroom. That is plugged into another router that is used as an ethernet hub. It's cables go into my PS3 and my server. The second router shows up as a hidden network on my laptop, and I can connect to it. But it is not listed as an attached device on my main router, and my laptop says that it connects straight to the main router, not the second one. How can I connect to this router? Aside from swapping the two? Thanks in advance.

  I'd like to do a Site-to-Site bridging with VPN (IPsec), how do I do that? On the local side, I have a DrayTec Vigor2910, it is supposed to be able to manage IPsec tunnels. Anyway, I need to have several VPN tunnels to various sites, but how exactly do I do that, If the only router I can configure, is the local one?   Hi, I am having a hard time establishing a connection to my database file using JDBC-ODBC bridge. The driver I am using is sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver but I believe it is not present on Mac OSX by default and hence throws an exception for class not found. • How to close all tabs in Safari using AppleScript?

  I have made a very simple AppleScript to close all tabs in Safari. The problem is, it works, but not completely. Here's the code: tell application "Safari" repeat with aWindow in windows repeat with aTab in tabs of aWindow aTab close end repeat end repeat end tell I've also tried this script: tell application "Safari" repeat with i from 0 to the number of items in windows set aWindow to item i of windows repeat with j from 0 to the number of tabs in aWindow set aTab to item j of tabs of aWindow aTab close end repeat end repeat end tell ... but it does not work either. I tried that on my system (MacBook Pro jan 2008), as well as on a Mac Pro G5 under Tiger and the script fails on both, albeit with a much less descriptive error on Tiger. The problem is that only a couple of tabs are closed. Running the script a few times closes a few tab each time until none is left, but always fails with the same error after closing a few tabs. Under Leopard I get an out of bounds error. Since I am using fast enumeration (not using "repeat from 0 to number of items in windows") I don't see how I can get an out of bounds error with this... My goal is to use the Cocoa Scripting Bridge to close tabs in Safari from my Objective-C Cocoa application but the Scripting Bridge fails in the same manner. The non-deletable tabs show as NULL in the Xcode debugger, while the other tabs are valid objects from which I can get values back (such as their title). In fact I tried with the Scripting Bridge first then told myself why not try this directly in AppleScript and I was surprised to see the same results. I must have a glaring omission or something in there... (seems like a bug in Safari AppleScript support to me... :S) I've used repeat loops and Obj-C 2.0 fast enumeration to iterate through collections before with zero problems, so I really don't see what's wrong here. The VPN is is hosted by the cybersecurity club at my university, and connects to a sandboxed LAN designed for penetration testing against various servers that the club has built. My host (Windows 7 Ultimate) connects to the VPN fine and is assigned an IP through DHCP, but for some reason the VM can't do the same thing, and I'm not sure why. It's like OpenVPN is filtering out packets from the MAC address it doesn't recognize. I want the virtual machine to bridge over the VPN connection, because our IT office has very strict policies about what you can and can't do on the network. I want to be able to run active attacks (ARP spoofing, nmap, Nessus scans) in the sandbox environment without risking the traffic accidentally going over the university network and getting my internet access revoked. Bridging over the VPN connection and running all attacks from inside the VM would solve that problem. Any idea why the host can use this interface, but the VM can't?

They can't see my access point. What I need is a gizmo that connects over-the-air to my access point in building A, talks WPA2, and converts the packets to and from a wired Ethernet port. Netgear-access-point in building A      (WPA2 WiFi) Wireless bridge device          <-- Looking for this.      (Cat5 ethernet) My devices in building B. I've looked for devices on Amazon, but the descriptions are infuriatingly unclear. It says it supports WPA2, but does it support it as a client? Grrr... Any recommendations please?

  I need that because I am running a free version of iESX server and there is very little that I can configure in the OS itself. The server is sitting rather far from my router and I want to get rid of that cable. Now, I have seen a device which is allows to cut a cable with a transmitter and a receiver. Ideally I just want a receiver because my router is already transmitting stuff. If you have successfully used a wifi to ethernet adapter / bridge, then please recommend it here. Thank you.

• Internet access using Edimax BR-6204WG as NIC

  My internet access at home is provided by Virgin Media via their superhub. I have a laptop with no NIC - however I do have a spare wireless router, the Edimax BR-6204WG, which I have been led to believe can be used to bridge wireless connections. Only problem is, I'm not sure how to go about doing this.   I wanted to build a single PC to fit all my needs, but since hardware virtualization support (Vt-d specifically) is a huge problem, I decided to build multiple single-use oriented computers. In this scenario I want these computers to be as minimal as possible. So the core of my question is: "Are there significant performance difference between chipsets?" I'm considering Sandy-Bridge i7 or i5 for my "game console" computer. And since I will use only one graphic card, one or two HDD, 4-8GB RAM and nothing else, I would be fine with a micro-ATX board with a Q67 (or some other low-end chipset).

• ARP replies contain wrong MAC address

  I've got a robot running linux with wired and wireless adapters. When I boot up, it connects to the wireless fine. When I assign an IP to the wired (either statically or with DHCP), it looks like it works. As in, ifconfig shows a proper IP and route shows proper routes. However, when I do an ARP request of the wired IP, the ARP reply contains the wireless MAC. ??? There's no bridge running on the robot, so why don't I get the wired MAC??? When the wire is disconnected, the wired IP replies to ping... Why is the robot replying over the wireless interface to IP requests on the wired???

• Speeding up Connection Between Computer and Wireless/Bridged Router

  Hey everyone, I looked through other questions, but didn't find useful responses. Our main computer has a dl speed of 6 Mbps, but some of our other computers are getting only 40-200 Kb! The router is wireless, but all computers are connected using a Netgear Wall-Plugged Bridge XE102, which transmits information via the building's powerline. It can't be the hardware itself, however, because some computers still manage decent speeds. The computers afflicted are running on Microsoft XP Service Packs 2 and 3, but so are computers that are totally functional. These speeds severely impede on productivity and are excruciatingly frustrating when trying to cram in time in the early hours. Could it be an issue with the computer? Location? Router? • Using a 3g usb dongle as Cisco router access point

  We have an office opening, and we aren't going to have comms into the building when management want the building to open. Our only option (I think) Is to try and hook up a 3/4g dongle to something to act as the access point, and send all the traffic via that. The model of router we use wont support the usb dongle, so we need some sort of 'bridge' My idea was to build a Linux box, plug the dongle into that and then via the Ethernet ports plug the router in. We need the Cisco router in the equation as we create VPN connections over that back to head office. My question is will this work?
