• SQL Saturday #39 in NYC

  This weekend I will be speaking at the NYC SQL Saturday . The whole event was supposed to be BI focused but now the schedule shows a lot of non BI stuff as well. I will be presenting SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services Programming , one of my favorite topics to present on. It seems that the event if fully booked. I'll be coming down on my bike taking scenic roads through MA and CT so I will not make it to the speaker dinner. • NVIDIA Geforce gt 555m driver install problem

  I recently installed ubuntu 12.04 on my asus N55SF, which runs nvidia geforce gt 555m and an integrated graphics, via optimus but after installation i found no such thing on ubuntu. i went o nvidia website and installed the driver from there(ver 259.59 i guess) after reboot, i was stuck at 640x480 resolution and my card was still undetected i reinstalled ubuntu but this time i installed bumblebee, but the system settings still shows the graphics as 'unknown' i dont know whether the driver has been installed or not, but from the 'unknown' i figure its not there. when i run sudo nvidia-settings i get this msg "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run nvidia-xconfig as root), and restart the X server." however i can run the settings page by sudo nvidia-settins -c :8 i just want to know why ubuntu hasnt still detected the gpu? is it because bumblebee disables it? and i forgot one v important thing..I AM A NOOB :(

• Gravity Forms not loading under https, jQuery is not defined

  I am using Gravity Forms on my Wordpress site, and so far so good. The problem is I have made the page secure (https/SSL), and this is making the form not to work. It looks like the issue is how the site is trying to load jQuery. There are 23 JS errors on the page, which seem to be due to a failed jQuery load "Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined".   Acabo de ver un vídeo de Oracle sobre las ventajas económicas y de eficiencia que aportan los programas en marcha de renovación de base instalada. Con los recientes anuncios de los SPARC T4 y SuperCluster las ventajas se refuerzan. Y en España sigue habiendo una importante base instalada de sistemas Sun en la sanidad. En el vídeo me ha llamado la atención que se destaque algo que casi nunca se hace: el reciclado de los sistemas antiguos. Son tres minutos y medio y es muy fácil de seguir por sus grafismos y por el inglés muy entendible con que se expresa el presentador. Al final, estamos hablando de TCO, el cada vez más famoso Coste Total de Propiedad, tema que cada vez debería de tomar peso a la hora de las decisiones sobre el coste de adquisición. Prueba de ello es que el gobierno de Gran Bretaña ha publicado una primera guía de criterios de consideración a la hora del cálculo del TCO de productos de software. Animo a echarle un vistazo, porque pone en papel organizadamente lo que todos conocemos, pero que siempre es bueno tenerlo sistematizado.

• Flash isn't working in Chrome on 64 bit Ubuntu 10.10 fresh install

  I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit last night on my laptop and installed Google Chrome ver. 8.0.552.237. So far flash works on Firefox and Chromium, but not at all on Chrome. I did the sevenmachines install for flashplugin64 and that worked for firefox and chromium. Anyone know how to make it work on Chrome? I really would prefer to use Chrome over Chromium, but if it's not an easy fix I can switch. I'm not too Ubuntu literate, but I can figure things out if necessary. (In short, long explanations are not necessary).

• Need more RAM?? Running VMmachine + ubuntu

  So I looked but im running ubuntu in vm machine and its running at a snails pace and I installed the 64bit ver. Running windows 7 64bit the down side is that I only have 2GB of ram installed.....bummer huh I know the answer is im going to need more ram I just want to confirm... Or is there an tip that I can do change some settings to make it run faster in VM? I just want verification on what steps I can take if any to speed things up? Thanks Experts!

  I have newly installed Ubuntu 12.04. I have Canon MG6360 printer/scanner. I have successfully installed printer drivers and can print okay. Have downloaded MG6300 series ScanGear MP Ver. 2.00 for Linux (deb) from Canon but don't know how to install this from terminal. I apologise for having to ask such a basic question! Thanks. Later...I have extracted the files. Question appears: Do I want to run install.sh? I click 'run in terminal', and enter password. I don't know if it installed and don't know how to check. Scanner does not work or 'see' the PC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The server was not found or was not accessible DOH!!!! Or a clean translation is that it cant find SQL or is offline or not running. SO check the power is on/Service running or as in my case Edit web.config & change back to Work SQL box   Hope you dont have this pain as the default errors @ the moment suck balls in the EntityFramework 4.XX releases   Cheers

  I'm trying to make a simulation game for an automatic cruise control system. The system simulates a car on varying inclinations and throttle speeds. I've coded up to the car physics but these do note make sense. The dynamics of the simulation are specified as follows: a = V' - V T = (k1)V + ?(k2) + ma V' = (1 - (k1 / m) V) + T - ( k2 / m) * ? Where T = throttle position k1 = viscous friction V = speed V' = next speed ? = angle of incline k2 = m g sin ? a = acceleration m = mass Notice that the angle of incline in the equation is not chopped up by sin or cos. Even the equation for acceleration isn't right. Can anyone correct them or am I misinterpreting the physics?

• Trouble exporting Maya models to Panda3D?

  Having issues here. I added the Panda3D exporter script thing to Maya. 2 things: When I go to export to a .egg, no .egg is formed. Instead a fileToBeExported_temp.mb appears next to the original fileToBeExported.ma. My models use curving meshes with many subdivisions, easily in the thousands, like on the smoothed tentacles of an octopus. Will Panda be able to handle this in the first place? I can't find out on my own since it won't export.

E’ un’ottima occasione per confrontarsi e, in soli due giorni, avere una panoramica ampia dall’hardware a Linux, da Android a Windows CE, dal .NET microframework a QT, senza troppi messaggi commerciali e con un’ottima apertura sia alle tecnologie commerciali che a quelle free e open source. Io parteciperò come speaker, parlando di Windows CE, ma anche come spettatore interessato a molte delle track di un programma che si va popolando e diventa mano a mano più interessante. Se volete cogliere l’occasione per visitare Firenze (che già sarebbe un motivo più che sufficiente!) e parlare di embedded, contattatemi perchè come speaker posso fornire un codice sconto che vi farà risparmiare un 20% sul prezzo della conferenza (che già è vantaggiosissimo, vista la quantità di contenuti dedicati all’embedded). • ubuntu booting problem with 12-04

  i installed ubuntu through USB .. instillation was proper. but when i restarted my laptop it dint boot. so planed install it again when started selected install from USB. it booted ma previous installed ubuntu.. so after wen ubuntu boots no need of that pen drive.. so in short .. eveny time i want to start my pc i need that pendrive to boot .. so please help me out this.   Bonjour, Pour quelques besoins que j'ai de passage rapide en JEE 6, et parce que je pense que l'expérience est intéressante, je crois devoir intervenir sur le code source de Glassfish v3, encore jeune. Mais il y a loin de la coupe aux lèvres. Et si j'ai pu télécharger l'environnement et le compiler pour me faire ma propre distribution binaire, cela ne fait certainement pas de moi un développeur digne d'intégrer une communauté constituée de membres solides. Ceux-là n'ont pas à se perdre avec de nouveaux arrivants, néophytes, qui adopteraient par leur méconnaissance des comportements brutaux. C'est bien ce que je veux éviter. Le projet Glassfish est important, il est sur java.net. Mais d'autres tout aussi ambitieux exis...

As far as I know, I can install the ATI drivers through the Additional drivers When I press 'Activate' in the FGLRX graphic propietary control ATI/AMD it comes up with an error. • Partitions and cdrom are not mounted, and the bars are missing in Ubuntu 12.04

  Provide my spec and sorry for my poor English first. MB: Gigabyte G31M-S2L (bios ver. F9) CPU: intel E5200 2G RAM HD1: WD 160G with 2 partitions (partition 1:60G, NTFS, win xp; partition 2:100G, NTFS) HD2: WD 320G with 2 partitions (partition 3:220G, NTFS; partition 4:100G, ext4, Ubuntu) Recently, I tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 on my desktop PC (on partition 4). At the beginning, everything looked great including the auto-mounting of partitions 1~3 and the unity (3D). However, after I deleted and re-allocated the partitions on HD2 and re-installed Ubuntu on partition 4, the partitions 1~3 are no longer auto-mounted when I logged in the desktop (and even the inserted cdrom would not be mounted either), and the launch bar and menu bar in unity (3D) are missing. The configurations during these two installations are all the same as default. Are there any possible reasons or solutions for this issue? Thank you in advance!
