  • Add separate domain name to Wordpress admin area with htaccess

    I have a Wordpress installation in a seperate folder on my server (meaning it is not in the root folder). I have a htaccess rewrite rule that maps Domain A to folder A. Inside folder A is the Wordpress admin folder, let's call it folder A.B. I tried mapping Domain B to folder A.B., but I can't get it to work properly. When you log in to Wordpress via /admin, you get redirected to /wp-login.php (so from folder A.B. to folder A), maybe that is where I get into trouble. So what I would like to do is this: Domain A folder A Domain B folder A.B Note that this is not for security purposes, I just like the idea of www.domainb.com instead of www.domaina.com/wp-admin. Can this be done with Wordpress?

  • Cloned Win7: Keyboard doesn't work

    I cloned my old Windows7 hard disk to a shiny new Seagate Momentus XT 500GB using the free EaseUs Disk Copy tool on my laptop. After the clone process I used the Windows 7 installation disc to start the automatic startup repair. This took maybe 15 minutes and then my cloned disk was able to start. Now the cloned disk boots until the login screen and then I can't do anything because my keyboard just doesn't work. I tried connecting an external USB keyboard but this didn't help. The mouse is working fine. Note that the keyboard works fine in BIOS and in the Windows startup options menu. I booted into safe mode and again the keyboard is not working at all. I also noticed that the letters "Press CTRL+ALT+Delete to login" are now shown in italic font but they used to be shown non-italic on the original disk. I have now replaced the clone with the original disk again and from here everything works fine. Doesn't anybody have an idea how I can get my keyboard back?

  • Fujitsu Siemens V6535 laptop doesn't wake up - crash when going into standby?

    I'm having trouble with my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens model V6535). It runs Windows 7, and after I upgraded from Vista I've noticed something that makes me really angry. When my laptop goes into Standby, the power LED changes to red and starts blinking (standby mode). When I push the power button to wake it up it, the blinking LED changes to green but nothing else happens. Nothing on the display, no HDD sound. When I press the power button for a few seconds and then try turn it on again, it doesn't display anything. I have to unplug the charger, shut it off, and power it on again without the power cable. Then it starts working. A few days ago I upgraded the BIOS to the newest version, but it doesn't help. Does anyone have any idea what can be wrong?

  • Suddenly getting lock timeouts with MySQL

    We've got a web app hosted on Amazon Web services. Our database is a multi-az RDS MySQL server running 5.1.57 and 3-4 app servers talk to it. Today, we started seeing a lot of errors along the lines of "Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction" - almost 1% of POST requests are seeing this. There have been no modifications to the code running on the site. There have been no schema changes. We haven't had a big spike in traffic. I've been looking at the processes running, and none seem out of control. I tried scaling our RDS instance from a small to a large, with no effect. Two days ago, Amazon had some outages. As part of the recovery from that, our RDS server, and our app servers ended up in different availability zones, but all within the same region. But yesterday, everything was fine so I'm not convinced that's related. The lock timeouts are in different types of requests and occur in different InnoDB tables. I have noticed the number of open connections jumped when we started seeing problems, but they may be a symptom and not a cause. What are my next steps in debugging this?

  • 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable on OS X server 10.6

    I recently added a new domain to my mail server. I have 1 main server mail.example.com and several others that have the mx record pointing to mail.example.com. My two new domains have the mx record set correctly. The issue I am experiencing is the 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable error but only when I send emails to accounts on the new urls from an external email account such as gmail. If i send an email to one of the newly made email addresses with the new url from an email account within the same server it delivers normally. For example.... sending [email protected] to [email protected] receives 550 error sending [email protected] to [email protected] works normal here is a report from wormly.com with server and account names changed for obvious reasons Resolving hostname... Connecting...     What happen if SDHC card get write error (damaged cell / bad sector) ? Whole card is unusable (to trash, all data written to that sector now and in future will be lost) ? or rewrite sector (flash memory get corrupted when writing so maybe have any function to check if sector was written successfully) to another and mark as fault as unusable what will be seen as reduction of capacity but no data lost. I have to do some research about SD card-s on disk less machines. regards

  • How can I run a Virtual Machine in Windows 8 Developer Preview?

    Since having issues installing Ubuntu side-by-side with Windows 8, I thought I'd try running Ubuntu in a VM instead. However, VMWare player has no love for Windows 8 yet (invalid VM86 or something similar), and AFAIK the promised hypervisor options are not currently available for playing with. So: Are there any VM hosts that do work in Windows 8 Developer Preview at this point? (specifically for running Ubuntu) Alternatively, does Wubi work on Windows 8? It seems not; from Wubi: An error occurred: 'WindowsBackend' object has no attribute 'iso_path'

  • Does mdadm allow to mix sata drives and USB -> sata drives ?

    Welcome, I have question, i have working array md5 of 5 drives. We are running out of space. Server don't have big usage but it have to be online. We can't add another controller. I got idea to buy a USB drive case ? Does mdadm allow to mix array created on sata drives by controller and virtual usb ? (we don't boot from mdadm) But im not sure is this will work ? Is usb drives are configurated before mdadm demon start ? Regards

  • What's faster for web-server virtualization ? (virtualbox or KVM)

    I have question, does anyone try to set up a webserver (debian) using virtualbox (x64) ? Right now i have few servers in KVM (x64) but i think it work slowly... Can i get something more (faster, performance) using virtualbox (x64)? On my home installation it looks very fast. Should i move to vbox against kvm ? I'm looking for answer from someone who have in virtualbox (x64) real server (can be headless) (debian/ubuntu) not windows xp or other home using things ;) I also got xp, 2k3, ubuntu in virtualbox (x86) and for me looking faster than kvm(x64). But it's hard to say anything without real tests done by multiple users not just one.

  • Strange network connectivity problem

    Here is my network connectivity: cable modem | |(WAN) wrt54g (default gateway, 192.168.1.1) -- earth |(LAN) | Simple Switch1 | | | | | SimpleSwitch2- neptune | | | | mars mercury | |- venus | |- laptop | saturn (Windows AD DC) simpleSwitch2 was hanging off the wrt54g. I moved it to SW1 during troubleshooting. Nothing described below was any different. earth is connected via wireless to the wrt54g. I can ping from laptop to mars, neptune & mercury. I can ping from earth to venus, saturn & laptop. However, pinging mars, mercury or neptune from earth gives the following result. Pinging mars.XXX.XXX [192.168.1.105] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Ping statistics for 192.168.1.105: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), .122 is the address of the machine from which I am pinging. earth is a Vista machine. Windows firewall is off. saturn is my DNS & DHCP server. Can anyone give me any ideas what the h*ll is going on? Clearly the topology is a factor And yes, I am a space geek.

  • mosh-like port forwarding

    This is on linux, connecting to linux servers: I love mosh, but it doesn't support port forwarding, and likely won't for a while since it's been almost a year now and it hasn't happened yet. port forwarding over ssh is great, but because my laptop moves between networks several times a day, my ssh sessions die, and so do the port forwards. I could script/hack something to detect hung ssh and reconnect to get my port forwards back, but before I do this, is there another way to do long lasting port forwards when your source IP changes several times daily (because you go on different networks)? I'm thinking an ssh over UDP would do the trick but of course ssh is over TCP.

  • Why doesn't tmux respond to shortcuts properly?

    I'm using OSX 10.8.1 in combination with iTerm2, zsh and tmux via Homebrew. The beginning of my ~/.tmux.conf file looks like this: set -g prefix C-a unbind C-b bind-key a send-prefix set -sg escape-time 1 When I start tmux and press C-a c, nothing happens. When I spam C-a c fast enough then some new tabs open up, but not the equivalent count of my command spaming. When I press C-a first followed by c, nothing happens again. Is there a delay issue or what's up with my tmux installation/configuration?

  • How to completely disable IPv6 for loopback interface on RHEL 5.6

    I've done lots of research on how to disable IPv6 on RedHat Linux and I have it almost completely disabled. However the loopback interface is still getting an inet6 loopback address (::1/128). I can't find where IPV6 is still enabled for loopback.   • No display but video card fans spins

    Since I moved my computer there's no display when I plug my screen in the video card but works fine in the mother board. I tried reseting the cmos, but I still have the same problem. The fans are spining and there's a light from the card. I tried the DVI ports and the HDMI Here's my build. I have it for 2 months and everything was working fine. Do you think it's the video card? May be ip-webcams or usb-webcams. The idea is having a machine with batteryes, laptop style, but there is no need to have a display/monitor attatched all the time.
