• Xcode find in document stuck in case-sensitive

  When in Xcode editing code for my objective C files, I often press Command-F to bring up the little Find-In-Document banner across the top. Sometimes this gets stuck in case-sensitive search, and when it does that it also won't loop through the entire document and sometimes won't even display the selected found string. I can't find any options to turn off the case sensitivity, and I never intentionally turned it on. I've restarted xcode several times hoping that would be it but it's changed nothing. Slightly off-topic, but this was the best place I could think of to ask this question. Thanks for any response!

• Raspberry Pi stuck at splash screen

  I have a raspberry pi and I am stuck at the splash screen. In the top right of the screen there is an image of a Raspberry. When I first power on the device, I get the colored screen, and then I get the image of the raspberry followed by a white cursor which quickly freezes or disappears. I put on the debian version of wheezy that allows java. (the soft float version) Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. BTW I did have it working at one point in time and all I did was go to the terminal (logged out of the GUI) and did a shutdown -h now command. But since then I've even started with a brand new version of the image and it is still not working. Oh and I did try the same SD card with a version of arch linux and it worked fine.

• copy/paste on MacOS gets 'Stuck'

  SnowLeopard. I commonly use copy in a terminal window to grab stuff I have to paste. A few times in the last few days, the clipboard has gotten 'stuck' on some old text. I do the copy gesture (with keyboard or Edit menu) in the terminal window. I paste somewhere else, and get something other than what I just copied. If all else fails, I can always tell the terminal to write it's content to a file and use that. But I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing to get into this pickle and if there's any way out.

• Symantec CPS / Backup Exec 11D Service stuck in "Starting" Status

  I have two Windows 2003 (one is SE, one is SBS) both SP2, both are Virtual Machines of Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2. All of a sudden about 2 weeks ago, the Symantec Backup Exec / CPS 11D stopped working on them. One is the Media server, one is our Exchange 2003 Server. There is another copy of CPS on our file server that the service is running fine on. However the one that is fine is not a VM. When I say stop working, the "backup exec continuous protection agent" service is stuck in "starting" status. On the non Exchange server I've tried uninstalling the last Windows Updates that were run some time around the time of failure. I've tried repairing the install of CPS. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling. Exact same problem in the end.

• Intel hybrid graphics stuck in power save mode

  I have an Asus UL30V with Intel hybrid graphics. When I bought it it used to switch to turn of the better graphics card to save power and run on a more power effecient one. When I connected the laptop to a power source again I could go to the intel graphics icon on the task bar and click on "switch to enhanced performance mode" or something similar. But like 2-3 months ago it suddenly vanished. I cannot switch modes anymore, it's gotten stuck in power save mode. I can change the windows power setting but that doesn't enable the better graphics card :( What should I do? I've tried restarting the computer and that does not work. I really hope I don't have to reinstall the drivers! It seems like other people have had the same issue: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19422695/19994601.aspx , he hasn't even got the same computer as me. I have windows 7 Home Premium x64 Any ideas?

• Force shutdown a pc stuck in updating via Team Viewer

  Before I left office, I shutdown my work computer, leaving it in "Please do not power off..." screen. Now, when I log on to my own computer, I saw in Team Viewer that it's on. I thought it restarted instead of shutting down, but when I connect to it, it's still stuck in the previous screen. I've tried sending Ctrl-Alt-Del, but it seems to ignore it. I could still change its resolution via Team Viewer, and the fact that it respond my connection means it's not completely stalled. Is there anyway to shutdown it via Team Viewer?

• App pool gets stuck on reset and takes .net pages out

  Several times after our app pool has been told to reset, it gets stuck, the .net pages go down and the following error appears in the application event log: Failed to execute request because the App-Domain could not be created. Error: 0x80070057 The parameter is incorrect. Our app pool is scheduled to automatically reset at 4am, so the errors stay up until we manually restart the app pool. Has anyone else encountered the error or know of any solutions? Research has suggested it's a permissions issue, but the permissions don't change and the error happens infrequently. The site has no other permission based problems and the app pool identity has permission where needed.

• vmware host stuck after adding a virtual drive to client

  I use ESXi 5.0 I created a virtual (400GB) drive (located on an iSCSI mapped drive), and tried to add it to a specific client on the host. The task has stopped at 11%. After over an hour, it seems that everything is pretty stuck. Looking at the datastore - it says that 400GB are allocated, but I don't see the new drive with the client. How can I check if the process is still working? or should I restart the host and pray for good?

• Removing DVI connectors stuck in video card ports

  I need some help removing a couple of DVI connectors which are stuck in my video card ports. I don't know why they were screwed in so tightly in the first place but they won't move. I need to replace hardware in the machine, but doing so with the cables connected and the box in its current position is nearly impossible. I've tried pliers with grips to loosen the screws holding the cable, and I've tried a screwdriver, the latter ended up breaking off the plastic. Neither worked. I'm at a loss as to what to do and I'm very frustrated. Can I get some suggestions?

• Kvpn on ubuntu 11.10 is stuck on 'Connecting'

  I recently installed open-vpn and it's gui, Kvpn, on my ubuntu system but after I load the configuration file and click 'Connect' it just runs through and gets stuck on 'Connecting', never actually getting connected. How do i get around this or what might i be doing wrong? The profile was set up using a .conf file and the network i'm trying to connect to needs only a username and password. I'm on a wi-fi connection, with one network card(also behind a university firewall, i suppose). Any help regarding connecting to a vpn on ubuntu would be much appreciated. Thanks!

• How to test which button is stuck

  My laptop's keyboard is prone to buttons sticking. The fix is to just press the same button again. Now when it is the letter/number keys are stuck, it's just a matter of putting the cursor in a text field, and seeing what characters appear. However, when it is one of the modifier keys, or tab, or enter or a few other buttons, it gets harder to tell which key is to blame. Trying to type can result in all sort of shortcuts being triggered. Is there anyway to test what input is being recieved? Also, I'm guessing this is a hardware issue, but if anyone knows of any possible causes/solutions it'd be appreciated. It's a Dell Studio 17, and the problem occurs under Windows and Linux.

• Intermittently, IIS7 requests get stuck in WindowsAuthenticationModule

  Hi, We're running an IIS7 server hosting several dozen websites. Several of these websites are all part of the same legacy app we've developed. These sites all run the same code and run in the same app pool. Roughly once a month over the past few months, we've found that all requests for this app pool start hanging indefinitely. When this happens, we receive an alert and we recycle the app pool. After that, the sites start working again. This only ever affects this one app pool - never any others on the same server. A couple times, before recycling the pool, I've looked at the currently-executing requests in the worker process. They all show up as executing inside the WindowsAuthenticationModule. Which is strange, because the vast majority of the application does not require authentication. There is a small admin section which uses Windows auth... but all the other requests should be anonymous. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this? There are several unusual things about the way these sites are set up. As I mentioned, they all run the same code - multiple sites point at the same physical directory. The only difference is the host header bindings. I'm not sure why there isn't just one site with all the host headers, but that's how it works. In several of these sites, the same physical directory is mapped at two levels - as the root of the site and again as an application within the site. So if a user goes to http://oursite.com/index.aspx, that maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. If a user goes to http://oursite.com/foo/index.aspx, that also maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. I think there is code which looks at the request URL and handles the two requests differently. This is strange because the same web.config ends up being interpreted as a site config file, and also as an application config file within the site. I don't know if this might be related to the authentication problem. If we can't find the cause, we're thinking of a few workarounds we could try: Move the admin section into a separate site, and give the client a new admin URL. Run that separate site in its own app pool. Then in the web.config shared by all the other sites, remove the WindowsAuthenticationModule. That way there should be no possibility of a hang within the WindowsAuthenticationModule. Try running all these sites in the classic pipeline instead of the integrated pipeline. They were working fine on our old IIS6 server... (If we get desperate) Set up a watchdog script which monitors the sites and auto-recycles the app pool when it detects that requests are getting stuck. What do you think? • NHibernate SchemaUpdate adding existing foreign keys again?

  I'm using SchemaUpdate to synchronize my hbms with existing database. Database has recently created based on hbms and is completely up-to-date. But SchemaUpdate generates all foreign key constraints again. For example suppose you have Student and Teacher. Student has association to Teacher with name ArtTeacher. ArtTeacher is a foreign key from Student to Teacher. Suppose database is up-to-date and currently holde Student, Teacher and their foreign key relation. So HBM and Database are equivalent. Know SchemaUpdate must not do anything but when I see its generated scripts, it re-produce that foreign key again. Why this happens? Is there any way to avoid it?

• Is it a problem if i query again and again to SQL Server 2005 and 2000?

  Window app i am constructing is for very low end machines (Celeron with max 128 RAM). From the following two approaches which one is the best (I don't want that application becomes memory hog for low end machines):- Approach One:- Query the database Select GUID from Table1 where DateTime <= @givendate which is returning me more than 300 thousands records (but only one field i.e. GUID - 300 thousands GUIDs). Now running a loop to achieve next process of this software based on GUID. Second Approach:- Query the database Select Top 1 GUID from Table1 where DateTime <= @givendate with top 1 again and again until all 300 thousands records done. It will return me only one GUID at a time, and I can do my next step of operation. What do you suggest which approach will use the less Memory Resources?? (Speed / performance is not the issue here).

• HAProxy + NodeJS gets stuck on TCP Retransmission

  I have a HAProxy + NodeJS + Rails Setup, I use the NodeJS Server for file upload purposes. The problem I'm facing is that if I'm uploading through haproxy to nodejs and a "TCP (Fast) Retransmission" occurs because of a lost packet the TX rate on the client drops to zero for about 5-10 secs and gets flooded with TCP Retransmissions. This does not occur if I upload to NodeJS directly (TCP Retransmission happens too but it doesn't get stuck with dozens of retransmission attempts). My test setup is a simple HTML4 FORM (method POST) with a single file input field. The NodeJS Server only reads the incoming data and does nothing else. I've tested this on multiple machines, networks, browsers, always the same issue. Here's a TCP Traffic Dump from the client while uploading a file: ..... • Apache2/Shibboleth TCP connections stuck in CLOSE_WAIT

  I run an Apache2 server which uses the Shibboleth daemon (shibd) as federated authentication module. Certain server connections using Shibboleth seem to stick permanently in CLOSE_WAIT state. tcp 38 0 blah.blah:57346 shib.server.:8443 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 38 0 blah.blah:45601 shib.server2:8443 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 38 0 blah.blah:41737 shib.server3:5057 CLOSE_WAIT From what I can find out, CLOSE_WAIT means that when the remote server disconnects, the local application is failing to close the connection, as it should. I suspect shibd is responsible somehow. Needless to say, if enough CLOSE_WAIT connections accumulate, I have a problem. Trying to get rid of the CLOSE_WAIT connections by simply using /etc/init.d/networking restart does not work. In fact networking seems to refuse to close down and restart, and I get a SIOCADDRT: File exists error (ie networking is trying to start without having stopped first). Same problem with ifup -a So I have two questions - one may be easy, and one harder. What's a good way to force networking to restart, and force whatever connections are stuck in CLOSE_WAIT to clear? Any ideas about how to fix shibboleth and force shibd module to behave?

• itunes iphone sync stuck on "Waiting for items to copy"

  superuser crowd, I've found a number of threads about this, but have yet to find a satisfactory answer. Perhaps I'll have better luck on this site?? I hope so... I'm having a problem with iTunes where syncing my iPhone ends up seeming to basically finish, but it says "Waiting for items to copy" after everything else, and just stays there for... well, a very long time, if I let it. Oh, and I'm not sure this is always the case, but at the moment, it's doing this while "Syncing Genius Data to [my iPhone] (Step 8 of 8)". If I click the little x in iTunes, it then gets stuck on "Canceling sync", for an equally indefinite sort of period. If I simply unplug the phone, everything seems to be synced and happy, but the next time I sync, it happens again. I presume this is a bug of some sort on Apple's part, but it seems like people have found workarounds... I'm just having trouble tracking one down that (a) is well described enough that I can actually follow it, (b) has enough detail that I can do it without losing data (i.e. tells me pathnames that I might want to copy first, or the like, before telling me to remove something) (note: see also point (a) -- I can't remove it if it's telling me to remove something that I don't know where it is!), and (c) otherwise seems sane. I'm hoping that here perhaps I'll get better luck -- with either a workaround, and/or debugging tips for figuring out how to find myself a workaround. Note: I'm busy with some other things at the moment, but can try to add some additional information later, if necessary.

  I tends to get this problem from time to time. The tooltips with a shadow appearing on top of everything. It's the shadow of the tooltips not disappearing after the tooltips disappear. The last one I had the tooltips was from the wifi connection list at the systray. This problem also happen to me on another computer. Both running Win7 with ATI gpu. I found this similar post Menu command stuck on screen but none of the solution helped. In fact the "Fade or slide tooltips into view" has been unchecked from the beginning. Ending task of "dwm.exe" also doesn't help. So far the only way to resolve this by restarting window. I can't post picture yet, so can't show any screenshot. Edit: Just tested a few more trick which doesn't work. 1. Turn of aero 2. Hibernate 3. Switch main display to external display and switch back. 4. Change resolution

• Mail queue directory stuck in IIS SMTP server

  Hi there, We have an IIS SMTP server which sends out a largish number of mails (4000 or so) in batches overnight, and recently we've seen mails get "stuck" in the queue directory. Normally restarting the SMTP service seems to fix this, but it's happened a few times so I'm looking for more information. We sent out around 12,000 emails last night in 3 batches of roughly 4000. Around 10 hours later there are still 2000 or so in the queue directory which don't seem to be leaving the queue. Any new mails which appear in the queue are picked up almost immediately and sent to their destination, but these 2000 or so don't seem to move. Looking at the date modified on the emails some match up with the time they were sent, but around 1000 of them have modified dates stretching up to now. e.g. there was one mail with a date in the message headers of 5:30 this morning, but it's date modified is 11:50 and there are 3 other messages with a date modified of 11:50, then 5 with 11:49, 2 with 11:45 stretching back for a few hours and all with actual message headers far earlier. • Multiple threads stuck on Tomcat behind Apache mod_proxy

Basically this brand new deployment of Tomcat 6.0.36 crawls down to a halt every couple minutes with many of the worker threads stuck as in the example snippet; only after a while the server gets "unstuck" for another couple minutes. The previous Tomcat works a charm though, but keeping it is not really an option... On netstat, we also see a lot of FIN_WAIT and FIN2_WAIT.   I tends to get this problem from time to time. The tooltips with a shadow appearing on top of everything. It's the shadow of the tooltips not disappearing after the tooltips disappear. The last one I had the tooltips was from the wifi connection list at the systray. This problem also happen to me on another computer. Both running Win7 with ATI gpu. Ending task of "dwm.exe" also doesn't help. So far the only way to resolve this by restarting window. I can't post picture yet, so can't show any screenshot. • MySQL getting stuck, eating up disk i/o

  Hi all, Using mySQL 5.0.51 on Solaris . At intermittent times it looks like MySQL is getting 'stuck' . The disk usage on the server spikes to 98% busy from reads. I used dtrace (specifically DTrace toolkit - iosnoop) to track down what processes was using all the reads. Mysql was calling tablename.TDM hundreds of times per second. There was no more than average load on the webserver that could account for this. There were no cronjobs running, and no other utilities like mysqldump or anything. It is a master / slave replication setup. As a jury-rigged fix, I altered the mysql table from 'tablename' to 'tablename2' and then back to 'tablename' This fixed the problem temporarily, and "unsticks" mysql. The disk usage goes back down and dtrace is no longer showing hundreds of reads to 'tablename.TDM' / second. A couple ideas I had are: 1. MySQL version bug 2. Infinite loop somewhere in my application (which i'm not sure how likely this is) 3. ?? Has anybody seen this before or have any insight? Thanks
