  • How to make xvnc not kill the session on exit

    Hello, I'm implementing a remotedesktop access to a server thru xvnc/xinetd/gdm. I'd like many users to connect to that server using vnc (thus providing the gdm login screen) and want that if the xvnc session is closed, it would 'xlock' the session so next time user connects it will resume his session. Tried several parameter tweaks, but unfortunately each time the vnc viewer is closes, the X session is also destroyed. Help/clues would be really appreciated.

  • Windows 7 / IIS 7 / Classic ASP not working

    I have some old classic asp scripts. They used to work on my 2003/IIS 6 server. But on my Vista/IIS 7 and now Windows 7 Ultimate/IIS 7 server the asp pages don't work. I did what they said here: Deploying a Classic ASP Server (IIS 7) (Microsoft TechNet). I enabled those 3 features in IIS 7 but that just went from getting 404 to 500 error.

  • routing problems

    I have an windows 7 laptop and I have installed openvpn 2.2x as client. The laptop has 2 ethernet cards, one of them is wireless. The wireless lan is 192.168.1.0/24 The Fix lan is 192.168.2.0/24 If I connect to the openvpn server useing the Fix lan the I can connect properly and for testing I ping to my openvpn server 10.0.0.1 that answers correctly. But if I connect to the openvpn server useing the wireless lan, I can establish the connection but pinging to the server isn´t possible. The packets goes allways lost. Why can this happen? In an other laptop where windows xp is installed and with the same lan configuratio everything works propperly. In both cases the firewall is configured to access the vnc server and the server directories useing samba. With the XP I have no problems. I will thank you for all help Ignacio

  • Linux clock loses 10 minutes every week

    One of my linux server's clock loses 10 minutes every now and then, nearly every week. I update the time so it stays correct, and although it doesn't really bother me, i'd like to fix it. I've been searching around a bit. Nothing can be responsible in the crontab, and i can't find any related message in the logs. Some people seem to use ntp to fix that kind of issue, but i'd prefer not to use an unecessary component on it.   • PHP scripts run only in webroot directory,and return 500 error in other dirs

    I have uploaded a folder with php scripts and they run only when they are in the webroot directory,Everytime i try to execute php script in some internal dir,i get internal server error,even if it works in the parent directory EDIT:So,i it's apache 2 server,nothing is logged in my error log about the errors in the internal directory , permissions for php file and for the direcory are -rw-r--r-- drwxrwxr-x

    I have found several threads from 2010 and early-2011 talking about excessive resource usage by mod_pagespeed I haven't seen any recent ones. I am facing excessive memory usage, which is causing server to crash several times a day. I am wondering if the issue was ever fixed before mod_pagespeed 1.0 was released.     I've managed to configure my test Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 Server VM to accept logins (via ssh) from users who have domain accounts in active directory via Kerberos, nsswitch.conf and PAM configurations. The final thing I'd like to happen is locating their home directory on a Windows server share. Each domain account ($USER) has a windows share ala: \\winsrvr\users\$USER. Can someone push me in the direction I need to go?

  • IIS serving locally, but not remotely

    There is a router between the modem and the server. In the admin panel, I use single-port forward Internal Port External Port IP 80 80 to 192.168.1.100 (Web Server) Basically, I'm not on site, and there is a local IT person who is supposed to have this ready. I saw the port forward page, and it was configured as described above. So my question is, the only other thing it could be is firewall software, or some other device on the network that their not telling me about, right?

  • How to limit network usage for concrete application in linux that is running in it?

    I'm looking for something like nice for cpu, but for network usage that will limit application network consumption to level that will configure. I have problems with xapian-replicate-server that is consuming 80 % of my network. It's causing mysql connections problem (mysql server is working on this machine too). I can't move xapian or mysql to other machine so i need to limit xapian network usage to a decent level. Is there any tool that will help me do this ?

    I have multiple websites setup using Nginx and Apache, but when I try to add a vhost based PHP directive using fastcgi_param PHP_VALUE , the value get added to all of my vhosts. Checking the value of the PHP parameter from PHP-CLI remain the actual one for whole server. e.g. I used fastcgi_param PHP_VALUE "memory_limit=512M" for a domain based nginx config, but it will be propagated to all domains on server. The 'php -i | grep memory_limit' show 128M though Not sure what I am missing

    I want to replace postfix with exim4 on my Ubuntu test server to reflect the setup I have on my production server, but apt-get and aptitude (quite understandably) insist on removing several packages that depend upon having a mail stack. However, in this case I am prepared to override apt-get's undoubted good sense as exim should fulfil all the requirements of the dependent packages, providing mail and sendmail functionality for my applications. I don't want to remove the dependent packages as there is months of effort invested and, although backed up, will be a pain to reconstruct properly.

    I had to throw a machine together in a bit of a hurry- to replace a machine that suddenly failed (no one had bothered to keep a "warm" backup) It has Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008 The snag is, I installed them off our MSDN subscription media, due to me not having "licensed" software. I need to put this machine into production. We are in the process of buying the licenses from a MS reseller now.     Hi We have several virtual machines which are connected in a private virtual network connection. Internet access for these machines is provided via dedicated virtual machine which has apache proxy server on it (they all use this machine as proxy). The problem now is that from several machines we need to connect to external VPN Server, but it seems that VPN connections don't work over apache proxy.
