    Hello I've a doubt. Lets consider that we have a div of width 200px. If i add the following the style style="padding-left:10px; padding-right:10px" to the element what happens actually? Will the total width of the div increases to 220px with 10px at the left (for left padding), original width 200px at the middle and 10px at the right (for right padding)? Or will it takes the padding space from the 200px and becomes (10px + 180px + 10px)? Does the above rendering differs for each browser (especially IE and FF)? Thank you NLV

  • How do I get rid of the space between <img> elements in a row in a html page?

    I'm displaying 3 <img> in a row like this: <div style="width: 950px"> <img src='/UploadedImages/86.jpg' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> <img src='/UploadedImages/85.jpg' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> <img src='/UploadedImages/84.gif' alt='' style="width: 300px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid Black" /> </div> As you can see I have thin black borders around the images. My problem is that there are white spaces about 5px wide between the borders of neighbouring images and I have set the margin to be 0px but it does not work. So what is happening here?

    [Edited at the resquest of admins] The best way I can explain my problem is showning an example. I have the table that you can see on the link below (since I can't post images...), that ha a table head (blue) and four rows, whose cells are green and white in color. I just want the white cells to hide/show alternately by clicking on green cells, which would remain always visible as parent cells. After hiding white cells, the green ones should be aligned into the same row, as they would fit like tetris bricks.   • What's the best way to call jQuery scripts, in HTML/PHP template, or seperate js file?

    StackOverflow is telling me this is a subjective question, but I think it's a matter of fact! I have a number of scripts that I'm using on different parts of my site. In terms of making fewer http requests, I know it's better to combine all of these scripts into one .js file. However, isn't a waste of time for a page to call a .js full of 10 or 15 different functions when it's only using one? The other method I am using is to use PHP conditional statements... <?php if( is_page() ) { > $(document).ready(function(){ ... }); <?php } ?> What's the best method or comination of these methods?

  • Html how to make a part on iframe, unvisible and unclickable externally? (my idea)

    I have a page (A) including a BUTTON with a function close_window() , however when I embed A to my main page (B) using iframe, the close_window() can't work as expected since there is no more window anymore, and I am not able to remove the button from the iframe since A is on another domain (Security issues prevents). What I want to do is make this button label invisible. And the only way I think is to put a white image just to the place where that button exists on my iframe, externally. is Smthing like that possible? I want the image to be on the top of iframe? Or do you have any other idea ? Thanks for helps.

    Hi, I always see the th tag only used in the first row of the table. Is there some specific reason why it can't be used to create 'left' headers along the leftmost column. Is this bad form, or is this ok. Basically, a table with headings on the top row and the leftmost column, with the very top left square being empty. e.g. <table> <tr> <th/> <!--empty--> <th>Top 1</th> <th>Top 2</th></tr> <tr> <th>LeftHeader?</th> <td>data1</td> <td>data2</td></tr> </table>

  • Is it common practice to put keywords in html markup for SEO?

    Though it's on the edge of programming questions, I think this is still relevant here, as only those of us actually doing the coding for a site would be considering this. I've been reading more about keyword placement, and it seems to me like a good place to do keyword placement would be in the class and id names chosen for the elements they are representing. I'm not talking about any kind of black-hat keyword stuffing thing but real legitimate use of descriptive keywords for elements. Is this something that is actively done for SEO?

First of all here is my code so that you can test it to see whats wrong: http://jsfiddle.net/Lzw4e/1/ I want to create a new hidden field every time the user selects from the left <select> element and remove / destroy the hidden field when the user clicks the right <select> element. I used the jquery command $("<input type='hidden' value=selectedAddFootballPlayerId>"); but when I checked of firebug I can't see any hidden field being created. For removal of the hidden field I really don't know. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

  • Why cant I specify the width and height of a cell in an html table?

    I am using CSS but for the sake of quick testing i am just using a style tag. This is the code I am trying to implement: echo "<td style='height=10px; width=10px;'>"; it makes sure that the max width of the cell is 10px however the height overflows with the text so becomes very large (high). what I am trying to achieve is any information that is in that cell more than 30 charcters I want to hide so you cant see it. (I know 30 charaters is more than 10px but I am just playing to see if it worked!) Thanks guys.

    Hi guys. I made a website using AJAX (with jquery) for the navigation. The pages of the site are sliding and I use remove() to destroy the old page. Every thing seems alright, but some times the browser crashes when he tries to remove the old page containing a Flash object. I suppose this is because Flash is still executing the Flash object. My question is simple. How do i remove this Flash's object for my page without having the browser crashing on my face ? Is there a way to stop the Flash execution before removing the object ?     I am using some JS code to transform my menu into a drilldown menu. The problem is before it runs the JS you see a BIG UGLY mess of links. On their site its solved by putting the js at the top. Using recommendations by yahoo/YSlow i am keeping the JS files at the bottom. I tried hiding the menu with display:none then using jquery to .show(), .css('display', ''), .css('display', 'block') and they all lead up to a messsed up looking menu (i get the title but not the title background color or any links of the menu) How do i properly hide a div/menu and show it after being rendered?

  • HTML Table: How to resize data cells when already specified "colspan"?

    I have tabular data to display, which has a meaning to both rows and columns. Columns are time blocks, rows are days. A particular datacell is confined to a single day, but can be in multiple time block. To show this, I am using the colspan tag. <div id = "GuideTable"> <table> <tr> <td colspan = 3> </td></tr></table> </div> Or Whatever. I'm trying to apply CSS formating to the entire table, and for changing colors, etc, things are fine, but wanting to have a consistent width is where I am running into problems. Right now, each data cell's width seems tied to the maximum width in its column (everything auto lines up). Some columns are itty bitty, others are huge. I'm trying to make columns consistently sized (even if that means every column is as big as the biggest column needs to be), but setting an individual datacells width (either via css or in the tag itself) is getting me nowhere. I'm thinking maybe the colspan tag is overriding my manual width? If that's the case, how can I change the width of a column as a whole, especially since they aren't explicitly defined? (CAN you explicitly define columns?) Examples of the CSS I'm using: #GuideTable td{ background:#ffffff; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; width: 100px; }
