  • untar filename.tr.gz to directory "filename"

    I would like to untar an archive e.g. "tar123.tar.gz" to directory /myunzip/tar123/" using a shell command. tar -xf tar123.tar.gz will decompress the files but in the same directory as where I'm working in. If the filename would be "tar233.tar.gz" I want it to be decompressed to /myunzip/tar233.tar.gz" so destination directory would be based on the filename. Does anyone know if the tar command can do this?

    I'm looking for a free, open-sourced web application written in C#/VB.Net on top of ASP.Net, which functions like Plesk or cPanel when it comes to (remote) file management. Something that simulates a regular FTP client, but actually displays web pages over HTTP, with the following functions: Create Folder Rename File/Folder Delete File/Folder Change Timestamp ("Touch") Move Archive etc. I saw a few commercial tools, but nothing when it comes to OSS. Any ideas? links?

    The closest-related implementation in Haskell I have seen is the forward mode at http://hackage.haskell.org/packages/archive/fad/1.0/doc/html/Numeric-FAD.html. The closest related related research appears to be reverse mode for another functional language related to Scheme at http://www.bcl.hamilton.ie/~qobi/stalingrad/. I see reverse mode in Haskell as kind of a holy grail for a lot of tasks, with the hopes that it could use Haskell's nested data parallelism to gain a nice speedup in heavy numerical optimization.

I've also tried to use claro from the same place where the ThemeTester is pulling. But layout doesn't look the same. rather it looks broken. However my same code works with other themes

    After I've unarchived an object with NSKeyedUnarchiver, I am able to use it like usual, but I am unable to re-archive it. When I try, it crashes. [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:unarchivedObject toFile:fileName]; I tried looking in the developer resources in apple but I haven't seen a thorough explination of proper usage of NSKeyedArchiver. Please Help.

Of course the difficult bit is that I am trying to do all this from STS/Eclipse and deploy from Eclipse to my local tomcat and to cloudfoundry...     I know it is rather heated question. But anyway I'd like to hear opinions of those in Stackoverflow. Given that XML support is quite good in SQL Server 2005/2008, and there's no concern about database independency, why one need Linq-to-SQL, Entity Framework, NHibernate and the likes, which are quite complex and awkward in advanced use-cases, if by using POCOs, XmlSerializer, and stored procedures which process XML, one can achieve a lot less complex middle-tier?   • Forcing IE8 Standards Mode with FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION

I have "iexplore.exe" set to 8888 (decimal mode) under MACHINE, but it's still coming up documentMode = 5. I thought 8888 was suppose to force IE8 Standards Mode whether you have a doctype or not. What is going on?

    What do I have to do to disable all system pop-ups in WinCE 6 R2? I read Mike Hall's post about Kiosk mode [1] but that's not going to work for us because we still want the standard graphical Explorer shell.
