  I have the following (greatly simplified) table structure: Order: order_number = CharField order_invoice_number = CharField order_invoice_value = CharField An invoice number can be identical on more than one order (order O1 has invoice number I1, order O2 has invoice number I1, etc.). All the orders with the same invoice number have the same invoice value. For example: Order no. Invoice no. Value O1 I1 200 O2 I1 200 O3 I1 200 04 I2 50 05 I2 100 What I am trying to do is do a sum over all the invoice values, but don't add the invoices with the same number more than once. The sum for the above items would be: 200+50+100. I tried doing this using s = orders.values('order_invoice_id').annotate(total=Sum('order_invoice_value')).order_by() and s = orders.values('order_invoice_id').order_by().annotate(total=Sum('order_invoice_value')) but I didn't get the desired result. I tried a few different solutions from similar questions around here but I couldn't get the desired result. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong and what I actually should do to get a sum that uses each invoice value just once.

  I'm thinking if there is a way to use javascript to pick up ANY ONE sentence from a textarea simply by clicking any position within that sentence. I'm thinking along the line of - first, get current cursor position (which I know how) - second, somehow locate the position of the previous fullstop and the next fullstop (how?) - take whatever content within the two fullstops. (how?) Or there is a simple way to do it?

While inserting table values into database, I selected all values of row in JTable, using the following model.getValueAt(rowIndex,colIndex); But this method gets all the columns except the last inserted column in a row. If i pressed enter key, after getting all values it done well. How to get all columns in a row with out pressed enter key?

  I am using the editArea library and jquery to do what i need... http://www.cdolivet.com/index.php?page=editArea&sess=2b8243f679e0d472397bfa959e1d3841 so in my html there is an iframe tag that editArea uses what i need is to access something like so with jquery $('iframe textarea').keydown(function (e){ number = 17; //any number really :) if(e.which == number){ //do something... alert('Done...'); } }); I tried the above but it looks like it is not detecting that key. but it works if selector was $(document) therefore the rest of the function works it's just it's not picking up the iframes textarea keydown any ideas? • Limit foreign key choices in select in an inline form in admin

  Edited :-) Hopefully a bit clearer now. The logic is of the model is: A Building has many Rooms A Room may be inside another Room (a closet, for instance--ForeignKey on 'self') A Room can only in inside of another Room in the same building (this is the tricky part) Here's the code I have: #spaces/models.py from django.db import models class Building(models.Model): name=models.CharField(max_length=32) def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Room(models.Model): number=models.CharField(max_length=8) building=models.ForeignKey(Building) inside_room=models.ForeignKey('self',blank=True,null=True) def __unicode__(self): return self.number and: #spaces/admin.py from ex.spaces.models import Building, Room from django.contrib import admin class RoomAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): pass class RoomInline(admin.TabularInline): model = Room extra = 2 class BuildingAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): inlines=[RoomInline] admin.site.register(Building, BuildingAdmin) admin.site.register(Room) The inline will display only rooms in the current building (which is what I want). The problem, though, is that for the inside_room drop down, it displays all of the rooms in the Rooms table (including those in other buildings). In the inline of rooms, I need to limit the inside_room choices to only rooms which are in the current building being displayed by the main form. I can't figure out a way to do it with either a limit_choices_to in the model, nor can I figure out how exactly to override the admin's inline formset properly (I feel like I should be somehow create a custom inline form, pass the building_id of the main form to the custom inline, then limit the queryset for the field's choices based on that--but I just can't wrap my head around how to do it). Maybe this is too complex for the admin site, but it seems like something that would be generally useful... Thanks again for your help!

  I'm adding a new Row to a BindingSource that is Bound to a DataGridView source.AddNew(); After this, use BindingSource to get the newly added row is return the next row in the DataGridView when its sorted. ROW "A" ROW "B" <- myBindingSource.AddNew(); ROW "C" myBindingSource.Current gives ROW "C". (it became the selected row in the DataGridView) I need this because I want to update just the newly added row DataRowView drv = (DataRowView)myBindingSource.Current; myTableAdapter.Update(drv.Row); and not the entire table. myTableAdapter.Update(myDataSet.myTable); and also, I would like to have this newly added line selected in the DataGridView after insertion. is it possible in some way?

  Hi, I have followed the Railscast episode 88 to implement a set of dependant drop down menus. In the students-new view, when the student's year is selected, the javascript figures out which courses are available to that year and offers the selection in a new drop down menu.   I just started playing with Django today and so far am finding it rather difficult to do simple things. What I'm struggling with right now is filtering a list of status types. The StatusTypes model is: class StatusTypes(models.Model): status = models.CharField(max_length=50) type = models.IntegerField() def __unicode__(self): return self.status class Meta: db_table = u'status_types' In one admin page I need all the results where type = 0 and in another I'll need all the results where type = 1 so I can't just limit it from within the model. How would I go about doing this?

  Hi, i'm trying to implement the jquery autocomplete plugin. I've got it up and running, but something is not working properly. Basically i have a autocomplete-list of employees. The list is generated from a table in a sql-database (employee_names and employee_ID), using a VB.NET handler (.ashx file). The data is formatted as: employee_name-employee_ID. So far so good and all employees are listed in autocomplete. The problem is that i don't know how to redirect a user to a certain page (for example employee_profile.aspx) when they've selected an employee from autocomplete. This is my redirect-code, but it ain't working like it should: $('#fname2').result(function(event, data, formatted) { location.href = "employee_profile.aspx?id=" + data }); For example; a user selects It will redirect a user to employee_profile.aspx?id=name of employee-id of employee (for example: employee_profile.aspx?id=John Doe-91210) instead of employee_profile.aspx?id=91210. I know i can strip the employee_ID with: formatResult: function(data, value) { return value.split("-")[1]; } }); But i do not know how to pass that employee_ID to the redirect-page.. What I have is 2 tables. first has ID, Name columns and second has date and adminID, which is referenced from table 1 column ID.
