    Hi, I am running Ubuntu 9.10 and I want to install turnkey linux's LAMP server on my machine to test out my code. I installed Turnkey LAMP via VirtualBox and it seems to be working because I can access the http://localhost. My question is: How do I manipulate files via VirtualBox? For example, if I had installed LAMP on my machine (not on a virtual machine), I could easily add/edit/delete files in the var/WWW folder. Where is the equivalent of "WWW" folder on Virtualbox and how can I interface with it? Thanks,

  • Unable to Turn On Media Streaming in Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7

    I have 2 PC installed with Windows 7 and Media Player 12. I would like to use Play To feature on both PC connected via LAN. Both PC (A and B) run media player in standard user account. I able to turn on media streaming option in PC A (with privilege access prompt) without any problem. However, PC B also prompt privilege access but no response after enter administrator password. Both PC follow same configuration steps. I may use "play to" PC A (in standard user account) from other PC without any problem. But I can't "play to" PC B in standard user account. I can only run media player in administrator account for "play to" to function. I have tried uninstall and reinstall media player via "Programs and Features" in control panel on PC B. However, it doesn't work too. Does anyone has similar experience as me failing to turn on media streaming that running Windows media player in standard user account?

  • MacBook OS X applications crashing on startup

    Closed my computer last night, went home. Opened it and it had restarted. Now when I open a couple programs such as Adobe Fireworks or Appcelerator Titanium they throw up a nasty error like below. Other programs (Chrome, Firefox, Textmate, Versions) work fine. Any thoughts on this? I haven't owned my MacBook long so I'm not even aware of the right tools or places to look to track this down. Any help would be most appreciated. It's making it hard to get my work done :] If it helps at all both those programs were probably open when it restarted. From the look of it I'm not sure if it's a permissions error or something? I completely re-installed one of the applications (Appcelerator Titanium). Didn't seem to help.   • PC hangs and reboots from time to time

    Hello, I have a very strange problem: Since I have my new PC, I have always had problems with it. From time to time the computer freezes for some seconds and suddendly reboots by itself. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 9.10. The same with 10.04 and 10.10. That's why I don't think it's a software failure because the problem persist too long. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm doing at this time. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I only use Firefox, sometimes I'm running 2 or 3 VMs, sometimes I watch DVD. So it's not isolatable. I could freeze once a day or once a week. I put the PC to the vendor twice(!). The first time they changed my power supply but the problem persisted. The second time they told me that they made some heavy performance tests 50 hours long but they didn't find anything. (How can that be that I have daily freezes with normal usage). The vendor didn't check the hard discs because they used their own disc with Windows. (So they never checked the Linux installation). Yesterday I made some intensive hard disc scans with "SMART" but no errors were found. I ran memtest for 3 times but no errors found. I already had this problem in my old flat, so I doubt that I has something to do with current fluctuation. I already tried another electrical socket and changed to connector strip but the problem persists. At the moment I removed 2 of the RAMs (2x 2GB). In all I have 6GB, 2x2GB and 2x1GB.     I'm running the latest version of mediawiki using MoWeS Portable II from my desktop. I just installed this extension on the wiki http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MsUpload It adds an option to upload files (to be embedded in an article) to the edit screen of an article.     I'd like to know if it will work: I have my domain and I´m serving a webpage in a nginx to the internet, but if I type my domain in my laptop inside LAN I access to my modem/router configuration, I cannot access to the web server unless I type the IP address. I would like to add a Bind server after the modem/router - (port forward, ports 80 and 5060), if the request is www.mydomain.com bind should resolve the nginx IP address and serve it, and if it is a voip request should address to the voip server and if I'd like to access to the website from inside LAN I'd like to type mydomain.com. Could I do it with this configuration? Do I need something else? Thanks in advace!

We would like our employees to be able to message but require all messaging traffic to go through our local mountain lion osx server (not setup yet). How would the phones and server need to be configured to accomplish this. Specifically is it possible to restrict the user from adding additional accounts? How about another app that would use the server? Do you know of any good documentation on setting up this service on osx server and iPhone? I am open to other solutions, opensource messaging servers.....

I have now two connections on my ATI graphic card: a VGA and newly added a DVI one. like this: Sine that, I need to start my computer with monitors powered ON, because if I do it after, thay does not "get up" and says that is "no video entry". Also, if I switch OFF my monitors when computer works, switching ON lets them in the sleep state... How can I fix this issue.

  • Citrix client slow to launch

    Was wondering if anyone else experience Citrix client to launch very slowly. While I'm a Windows SA by trade, I consider myself Novice+ on Linux, but I doubt thats the problem. This is the simple scenario: 1. Login to Citrix server to work from home 2. Click on the published application; this typically starts the local Citrix client. 3. Citrix client should start and you're off. Problem is between #2 and #3 I click on the application and 8 out of 9 times there is a 60 second delay and then I get an SSL connection error. I suspect this error is misleading since the connection took too long to open. But I dont know how to prove it (or fix it). I'm able to successfully manually launch wfcmgr without errors; so this leads me to believe Citrix client is installed correctly. I even leave it running thinking this may help, but I don't see a difference with or without this running first. The only times I'm able to connect successfully is when the Citrix client starts up a few seconds after clicking on the application. I've searched online for articles that might help, but tried a number of fixes without much difference. Even tried "ln -sf /dev/urandom /dev/random" as suggested by this article, but no dice:http://forums.citrix.com/message.jspa?messageID=1381276 My System (specs that may be relevant) Sony VAIO Laptop VGN-NW270F Linux Mint 11.04 Problem using: FireFox and Chrome Any help would be appreciated. Just trying to either find an answer or guidance on how to determine why its taking so long to launch the Citrix Client. Thanks

    I'm trying to back up some data on an external hard drive and am finding the transfer rate to be unbearably slow. My environment is as follows: Macbook Pro Unibody (late 2008) Windows 7 RC, 64-bit Lacie, rugged 500GB portable hard drive I have tried using a number of methods including simple copying in Explorer, Teracopy, Crashplan, and Windows backup. I am averaging around 1MB/s which seems terribly slow. How do I identify what is the cause of this slow file transfer, and then how do I go about addressing the issue.

    I set up my home network all through this 3G wifi router. Problem is it only allows 5 devices to connect. That's not much especially if a wifi printer and gaming consoles keep hogging these slots. On the other hand I don't see the point on blocking these devices. They are (should) not doing anything online just intern in my network. The documentation I can find is surpirisingly unhelpful and focuses how to plug the device in a power socket. So what would be my options. Notes: I have already been able to get a shell on the device using ssh. It's running some Busybox. But I fail to find the how and where this limit is enforced/created. Notes 2: Specifically my device is a 3WebCube - unfortunately not specifically marked with the Huawei Model number.   • ustream and justin.tv don't work, UTube and bitgravity are fine

    Can anyone explain this? On this laptop, ustream and justin.tv don't work - just get a blank screen. But UTube and bitgravoty work fine (also flash based). 64-bit windows 7 - but I have 64-bit windows 7 on my desktop machine and everything works fine there. Good place to test is here http://live.twit.tv/ where the bitgravity feeds work fine, but ustream and justin.tv don't.

    I'm new to the whole Mac OS X operating system. I'm trying to learn and I've got myself a MacBook running Mac OS X 10.7.3. I've created a test user that can not administrate so that I can test out permissions and I've found that I can not do anything in the Applications folder, which includes 'installing' applications (even those drag 'n' drop ones) and creating folders, without entering an Admin name and password. However, I was under the impression that this wasn't the case and you only needed Admin permissions to write to somewhere like Preferences, so can somebody please clarify why it is asking for Admin when I try to drag 'n' drop applications into the Applications folder.

  • Windows 7 detects my 1 TB disk as a disk with only 31 MB space

    I've added another 1 TB Western Digital disk on my computer (there is a disk with 250 GB already), and after booting to Windows 7, it recognise the disk, but in the Disk Management panel, it says the disk has only 31 MB TOTAL space, so is what it shows in the EVEREST information. And when I rebooted the computer and entered BIOS, it said the new disk has 0 MB disk capacity. Is there any way to fix this problem?

    I'm receiving the following BSOD: I've tried installing the latest driver from nVidia (296.10), but it says "NVIDIA installer cannot continue", "The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.": I installed it manually at device manager, but problem still occurs. The problem does not happen in safe mode at all. Note: After restarting the computer when seeing this BSOD, the BIOS welcome screen is full of random black dots spread around: Any solutions? Update: I've tried disabling Aero by following this guide, but that didn't help.
