  • How do I send floats in window messages.

    - by yngvedh
    Hi, What is the best way to send a float in a windows message using c++ casting operators? The reason I ask is that the approach which first occurred to me did not work. For the record I'm using the standard win32 function to send messages: PostWindowMessage(UINT nMsg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam) What does not work: Using static_cast<WPARAM>() does not work since WPARAM is typedef'ed to UINT_PTR and will do a numeric conversion from float to int, effectively truncating the value of the float. Using reinterpret_cast<WPARAM>() does not work since it is meant for use with pointers and fails with a compilation error. I can think of two workarounds at the moment: Using reinterpret_cast in conjunction with the address of operator: float f = 42.0f; ::PostWindowMessage(WM_SOME_MESSAGE, *reinterpret_cast<WPARAM*>(&f), 0); Using an union: union { WPARAM wParam, float f }; f = 42.0f; ::PostWindowMessage(WM_SOME_MESSAGE, wParam, 0); Which of these are preffered? Are there any other more elegant way of accomplishing this?

  • How to refresh/redraw the screen (not the program window)

    - by mohrphium
    I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out, how to remove a drawn ellipse after it has been drawn somewhere else. I need a circle to follow my mouse all the time and this is all the program should do. I get the mousepositions and draw my circle but how can I remove the last one? #include <Windows.h> #include <iostream> void drawRect(int a1, int a2){ HDC screenDC = ::GetDC(0); //Draw circle at mouse position ::Ellipse(screenDC, a1, a2+5, a1+9, a2+14); ::ReleaseDC(0, screenDC); //::InvalidateRect(0, NULL, TRUE); //<- I tried that but then everything flickers //Also, the refresh rate is not fast enough... still some circles left } int main(void) { int a1; int a2; bool exit=false; while (exit!=true) { POINT cursorPos; GetCursorPos(&cursorPos); float x = 0; x = cursorPos.x; float y = 0; y = cursorPos.y; a1=(int)cursorPos.x; a2=(int)cursorPos.y; drawRect(a1, a2); } } I am working with graphics and all that stuff for the first time. Im kinda stuck here... once again. Thanks.

  • jQuery: Moving window (or FIFO) type DIV?

    - by Legend
    I have been trying to get this effect for a couple of hours now and I must admit I am failing at it. I am trying to construct a DIV that accepts a particular number of items (say 5), when the 6th item is added, the first item that was aded should be removed (first-in-first-out). The feel should have some kind of a fadeIn and fadeOut. Here's what I managed to write till now: ... //Create a ul element with id 'ulele' and add it to a div ... //Do an ajax call and when an element arrives Hash = ComputeHash(message) if(!$("#" + Hash).exists()) { var element = $("<li></li>").html(message).attr('id', Hash).prependTo("#ulele"); $("#" + Hash).hide().delay(10000 - 1000 * messageNumber).show("slow"); _this.prune("#ulele"); } ... prune: function(divid) { $("#" + divid).children().each( function(i, elemLi) { if(i >= maxMessages) $(this).delay(10000).hide("slow").delay(10000).remove(); } ); } I've tried a couple of variations but the final effect I am getting is not that of a FIFO. The elements disappear instantaneously despite the delay and hide("slow") calls. Anyone has a more straightforward approach?

  • How do I allow mysqld to use more than 24.9% of my cpu?

    - by Joseph Yancey
    I have a Web server running on RHEL that is running Apache and MySQL. It has a Quad core 3.2Ghz Xeon CPU and 8 Gigs of RAM Most of the time, we don't have any issues at all. Our web application is very database intensive. When our usage gets pretty heavy MySQL will peg out at using 24.9% of the cpu. Most of the time, it hangs around below 5%. I have speculated that it is only using one core of the CPU and it is pegging out that core but TOP shows me in the cpu column that mysqld changes cores even while the usage stays at 24.9%. When it does this MySQL gets painfully slow as it is queuing up queries Is there some magic configuration that will tell mysql to use more cpu when it needs to? Also, any other advice on my configuration would be helpful. We run two applications on this server. One that runs Innodb but doesn't get much usage (it has been replaced by the other app), and one that runs MyIsam and gets lots of use. Overall, our whole mysql data directory is something like 13Gigs if that matters at all. Here is my config: [root@ProductionLinux root]# cat /etc/my.cnf [mysqld] server-id = 71 log-bin = /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.log binlog-do-db = oldapplication binlog-do-db = newapplication binlog-do-db • Appending html code to a section inside a dialog window isn't working in IE6

    - by user338413
    I'm using jQuery's validation on a form. When the form is validated, I'm using a submitHandler to fill a dialog with data from the form then I open the dialog to display it. Works great except for in IE6. Nothing displays. I've tried initializing the dialog before and after running the validation code but neither makes a difference. Here's the validation code: $("#acct").validate({ ... submitHandler: function() { fillVerificationDialog(); $("#verification_dialog").dialog('open'); return false; } }); Here's the fillVerificationDialog: function fillVerificationDialog() { $("#dialog-data").empty(); $("<span class='label'>").text("First Name: ").appendTo("#dialog-data"); $("<span class='value'>").text($("#firstname").val()).appendTo("#dialog-data"); $("<br/>").appendTo("#dialog-data"); ... }

  • Automatic open Colorbox modal window

    - by user1631168
    I'm using the Colorbox module in Drupal 7. I'm opening an external website. I can make it work with a link. Click here, then click the "colorbox popup" link at the bottom, middle column. The client would like this to open automatically when the page opens. I've created a block and added the following code (from the colorbox site). <script type="text/javascript"> // Display a welcome message on first visit, and set a cookie that expires in 30 days: if (document.cookie.indexOf('visited=true') === -1) { var expires = new Date(); expires.setDate(expires.getDate()+30); document.cookie = "visited=true; expires="+expires.toUTCString(); jQuery.colorbox({html:"http://join.raretearepublic.com/popup/", width:887, height:638}); } </script> But it does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Fade unfocused GNU Emacs frame (X window)

    - by Mischa Arefiev
    Is it possible to make GNU Emacs 24 dim unfocused windows a bit? For example, I can set my rxvt-unicode clients to become darker when their windows don't have focus with this string in ~/.Xdefaults: URxvt*fading: 50 It greatly reduces discomfort when you have a lot of terminal windows on 2+ monitors. I would like a similar feature in Emacs, but couldn't google up anything. Here is how it looks like with urxvt (png, 1.43 MB)
