  • Makefile generic pattern rule -- xyzzy-en_US.ext2 from xyzzy.ext0

    - by Janne Savukoski
I can't figure out a way to define a generic pattern rule for the following kind of production with make: require xyzzy-en_US.ext2 from xyzzy.ext0 via xyzzy.ext1. This works: all: xyzzy-en_US.ext2 # to be compiled from xyzzy.ext0 %.ext1 : %.ext0 # produce xyzzy.ext1 %-en_US.ext2 : %.ext1 # produce xyzzy-en_US.ext2 But how to generalize the locale part of the second rule? Or do I need to generate rules for all different locales? Neither of these work: %-??_??.ext2 : %.ext1 # ... %.ext2 : $(@,%-??_??.ext2,%.ext1) # ...

  • How does the hash part in hash maps work?

    - by sub
So there is this nice picture in the hash maps article on Wikipedia: Everything clear so far, except for the hash function in the middle. How can a function generate the right index from any string? Are the indexes integers in reality too? If yes, how can the function output 1 for John Smith, 2 for Lisa Smith, etc.?

  • Better Reporting for CruiseControl.NET

Hello, Is there any way to generate the good error report from Cruise Control? I like to get the following things in that report. • Parsing external XML file with C#, what's the most aesthetic way?

    - by Itay
Hi, say there is an xml file, which not created by me, with a known schema (for example, rss). how would you parse it with C#? would you do that manually by XDocument etc, or would you use XMLSerializer and create a correspond class? or would you use Visual Studio tools to generate classes using a dtd file (that you'll write). what do you think the most aesthetic, easy, not error-prone way?

  • Information Extraction Toolkits

    - by MathGladiator
I'm looking for information extraction libraries where I can have semi structured information that may have either hidden or incomplete data. I want to train some classifiers to pull out content based on the structure. I'm working on building a tool where I can select text in the browser, and it will generate (via some web service call) a classifier that can be used on other documents to pull out text. I'm primarily looking at how the structure of the document can be used to indicate what the content is.

  • Fibonacci Code Golf

    - by Claudiu
Generate the Fibonacci sequence in the fewest amount of characters possible. Any language is OK, except for one that you define with one operator, f, which prints the Fibonacci numbers. Starting point: 25 characters in Haskell: f=0:1:zipWith(+)f(tail f)

  • deployment public keys

    - by hyperboreean
How do you guys deploy your code on your servers? I am using Fabric and Python and I would like a more automated way of pulling code from the repository through the use of public keys, but without any ops or manual intervention to set up the public keys. Are you storing them in the code as text or in a database and generate the pk file on the fly?

  • What grammar based parser-generator tools exist for ruby?

    - by cartoonfox
What open source (preferably gem-based) parser-generator options do I have in Ruby? I've used (flex&bison)|(lex&yacc) from C in the past, and I'm comfortable with BNF-style specifications. I've heard of treetop, but it looks a bit alien and verbose compared to yacc... Purpose: I want to convert my text markup language to a BNF and generate the parsing code. I think it's a better strategy than my first-order solution: http://github.com/dafydd/semantictext/blob/master/lib/semantictext/rich_text_parser.rb

  • Using WebSockets in a C# Web Application?

    - by sixones
I know its possible to use WebSockets within C# using a console application running along side the web application but Im wondering if its possible to use the requests on the C# web application to create the WebSockets. I've been looking through ASP.Net and Im starting to think it wont be possible unless I use straight up C# and create my own HTTP server and then use the same socket object to generate Web Sockets (similar to the way Node.js and Socket.IO work). Any thoughts on ways to include WebSockets on a C# web application without having multiple servers / projects?

  • Creating thumbnails PHP problem

    - by Wayne
    I have this source code where I got it from net tutsplus. I have configured it and made it work in one PHP file. It does work by transferring the original image, but it does not generate to the thumbnails folder. <?php $final_width_of_image = 100; $path_to_image_directory = "../../img/events/" . urldecode($_GET['name']) . "/"; $path_to_thumbs_directory = "../../img/events/" . urldecode($_GET['name']) . "/thumbnails/"; function createThumbnail($filename) { if(preg_match('/[.](jpg)$/', $filename)) { $im = imagecreatefromjpeg($path_to_image_directory . $filename); } elseif(preg_match('/[.](gif)$/', $filename)) { $im = imagecreatefromgif($path_to_image_directory . $filename); } elseif(preg_match('/[.](png)$/', $filename)) { $im = imagecreatefrompng($path_to_image_directory . $filename); } $ox = imagesx($im); $oy = imagesy($im); $nx = $final_width_of_image; $ny = floor($oy * ($final_width_of_image / $ox)); $nm = imagecreatetruecolor($nx, $ny); imagecopyresized($nm, $im, 0,0,0,0,$nx,$ny,$ox,$oy); imagejpeg($nm, $path_to_thumbs_directory . $filename); $tn = '<img src="' . $path_to_thumbs_directory . $filename . '" alt="image" />'; echo $tn; } if(isset($_FILES['fupload'])) { if(preg_match('/[.](jpg)|(gif)|(png)$/', $_FILES['fupload']['name'])) { $filename = $_FILES['fupload']['name']; $source = $_FILES['fupload']['tmp_name']; $target = $path_to_image_directory . $filename; move_uploaded_file($source, $target); createThumbnail($filename); } } ?> Basically it is supposed to generate a thumbnail of the uploaded image and store the original image into a different folder. The paths are correct, it works by getting the folder name in the URL, it does work, but nothing works for the thumbnails folder. BEFORE you ask this related question, yes, thumbnails generation does work on my server by the PHP GD, I have tested it separately. So this is not the problem. :) How do I get this to work? :(

  • Building both devel and normal version of a RPM package

    - by ereOn
Hi, I have a library from which I'd like to create two RPM packages. While I found several links on how to create a basic RPM package, I can't find how to create a devel package (see this question if you wonder what a devel package is). What do I have to do to generate both devel and non-devel versions of my RPM package ? Thanks.

  • How to properly downcast in C# with a SWIG generated interface?

    - by JG
I've got a very large and mature C++ code base that I'm trying to use SWIG on to generate a C# interface for. I cannot change the actual C++ code itself but we can use whatever SWIG offers in the way of extending/updating it. I'm facing an issue where a function C++ is written as such: A* SomeClass::next(A*) The caller might do something like: A* acurr = 0; while( (acurr = sc->next(acurr)) != 0 ){ if( acurr isoftype B ){ B* b = (B*)a; ...do some stuff with b.. } elseif( acurr isoftype C ) ... } Essentially, iterating through a container elements that depending on their true type, do something different. The SWIG generated C# layer for the "next" function unfortunately does the following: return new A(); So the calling code in C# land cannot determine if the returned object is actually a derived class or not, it actually appears to always be the base class (which does make sense). I've come across several solutions: Use the %extend SWIG keyword to add a method on an object and ultimately call dynamic_cast. The downside to this approach, as I see it, is that this requires you to know the inheritance hierarchy. In my case it is rather huge and I see this is as a maintenance issue. Use the %factory keyword to supply the method and the derived types and have SWIG automatically generate the dynamic_cast code. This appears to be a better solution that the first, however upon a deeper look it still requires you to hunt down all the methods and all the possible derived types it could return. Again, a huge maintenance issue. I wish I had a doc link for this but I can't find one. I found out about this functionality by looking through the example code that comes with SWIG. Create a C# method to create an instance of the derived object and transfer the cPtr to the new instance. While I consider this clumsy, it does work. See an example below. public static object castTo(object fromObj, Type toType) { object retval = null; BaseClass fromObj2 = fromObj as BaseClass; HandleRef hr = BaseClass.getCPtr(fromObj2); IntPtr cPtr = hr.Handle; object toObj = Activator.CreateInstance(toType, cPtr, false); // make sure it actually is what we think it is if (fromObj.GetType().IsInstanceOfType(toObj)) { return toObj; } return retval; } Are these really the options? And if I'm not willing to dig through all the existing functions and class derivations, then I'm left with #3? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Create a CSR in C# using an explicit RSA key-pair

    - by rlandster
Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?
