    I understand how standard random number generators work. But when working with crytpography, the random numbers really have to be random. I know there are instruments that read cosmic white noise to help generate secure hashes, but your standard PC doesn't have this. How does a cryptographically secure random number generator get its values with no repeatable patterns?

  • Python: Is there a way to reflectivly list all attributes of a class

    Given a class such as def MyClass text = "hello" number = 123 Is there a way in python to inspect MyClass an determine that it has the two attributes text and number. I can not use something like inspect.getSource(object) because the class I am to get it's attributes for are generate using SWIG (so they are hidden in .so :) ). So I am really looking for something equivalant to Java's [Class.getDeclardFields][1] Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I'll have to solve this problem with SWIG + JAVA instead of SWIG + Python.

  • Automaticly Change VisualState in Silverlight

    If you create a simple button and then choose Edit Template - Edit a Copy, Blend will automatically generate a style area, along with all the button states (MouseEnter, MouseLeave, Pressed, etc). No where in the generated code does it say that on a "MouseOver" event, change the state to "MouseOver", but it still manages to work! How does a standard button do it? Is there some sort of AutoEventWireUp going on?

    In MSVC, how can I make any unhandled C++ exception (std::runtime_error, for instance) crash my release-compiled program so that it generates a dump with the full stack from the exception throw location? I have installed NTSD in the AeDebug registry an can generate good dumps for things like memory access violation, so the matter here comes down to crashing the program correctly, I suppose.     I have worked with random functions in python,ruby, MATLAB, Bash and Java. Nearly every programming language has a function to generate Random numbers. However, these apparently random sequences are termed as pseudo-random number sequences as the generation follows a deterministic approach, and the sequence seems to repeat (usually with a very large period). My question, can an algorithmic/programming process ever yield true random numbers ? The questions probably is more of theoretical computer science than just programming !

    I'm trying to set up a simple example project in BizTalk that gets changes made to a table in a SQL Server db and updates a copy of that table in an Oracle db. On the SQL Server side, I have a stored proc named GetItemChanges() that returns a variable number of records. On the Oracle side, I have a stored proc named Update_Item_Region_Table() designed to take a table of records as a parameter so that it can process all the records returned from GetItemChanges() in one call. For the Oracle procedure, I specified a path for the GeneratedUserTypesAssemblyFilePath parameter to generate a DLL to contain the definition of the data types. In the Send Port on the server, I put the path to that Types DLL in the UserAssembliesLoadPath parameter. I created a map to translate the GetItemChanges() schema to the Update_Item_Region_Table() schema. When I run it the data is extracted and transformed fine but causes an exception trying to pass the data to the Oracle proc: *The adapter failed to transmit message going to send port "WcfSendPort_OracleDBBinding_HOST_DATA_Procedure_Custom" with URL "oracledb://dvotst/". It will be retransmitted after the retry interval specified for this Send Port. Details:"System.InvalidOperationException: Custom type mapping for 'HOST_DATA.TBL_OF_REC' is not specified or is invalid.* So it is apparently not getting the information about the custom data type TBL_OF_REC into the Types DLL. Any tips on how to make this work?

    Let's say I have the following class: class Person(val firstName:String, val lastName:String) Is there an automatic way to generate xml from this class without having to hand create a toXml() method? Ideally the output would be something like: <Person <firstNameJohn</firstName <lastNameSmith</lastName </Person It seems like there should be a way to do this without having to write all that out manually. Perhaps there is a trait I haven't found yet?
