• CheckBox gets converted to Button in Flex

  Hi, I am new to Flex, so please bear with me. I have encountered a strange problem. There's a ActionScript class which dynamically creates basic UI element. So I create RadioButton as var rBtn:RadioButton = new RadioButton(); and then put it in a Panel Container. The problem is that it appears to be a Button. However it behaves like RadioButton. I have found this problem with one more guy who has posted it here. CheckBoxes and RadioButton looks like Push Buttons. Please help me out with this. Thanks.

• How to highlight text automatically inside an UIAlertView text field

  Hello everyone I have an UIAlertView with a textfield that shows a default value and two buttons, one to cancel and the other one to confirm. • List replies in a winform

  In my C# app I get an xml from a server that contains some replies like in a forum thread (with elements like author, time, body, title, whatever). When I get this xml, I create a new form in which i want to display these replies, and a little text box with an "add reply" button. I'd also like some edit buttons on perhaps my own replies in the reply list displayed in the form. The simplest way that came to my mind to display the replies is to put a web browser control in the form, generate a full html page in a string from the xml, and throw it in that web browser control. And under it i can put the text box with the add reply button. Everything is ok, except that i have no idea of how i could implement the edit function on my own replies (i mean i could add a link in there... but link to what) I would like to know if there is a way to get that edit event from the web browser control (my guess is i can't) or another (maybe simple/easy) idea of displaying the replies in a winform using other controls

  In the controller, how can I add a variable at the end of a params[]? If I try this I get an error: params[:group_] + variable How should it be done? Edit per request Ok, I have a form that sets groups of radio buttons with names like this: group_01DRN0 Obviously I have different groups in the form (group_01AAI0, group_01AUI0, etc.) and the value is set according to the radio button selected within the group: Radio button "group_01DRN0" could have value of "21" or "22" or "23", radio button "group_01AAI0" could have value of "21" or "22" or "23", etc. In the DB I have every code (01DRN0, 01AAI0, 01AUI0, etc) so I want to select them from DB and iterate in the params value so I can get the radio button group value, I've tried this with no luck: @codes=Code.get_codes for c in @codes @all=params[:group_] + c.name end Thanks.

• Add CSS Class to link based on Character Count with jquery

  I have links that load dynamically onto a background to make them look like buttons. Some of the links take up two lines and some of the links take up 1 line. Eithe way they need to be vertically centered. My plan to to append a class based on the number of characters and then adjust the padding from there. So if the link's text is 25 characters (including spaces) or less - append class 'small' if the link's text is greater than 25 characters - append class 'large' How would I go about doing this with jQuery?

I know jQuery is capable of inserting a comment into a div area but i am having problems finding an example like that with fading in. • Event handling to detect if user clicks a 'Like' button in XFBML page

  I have a Facebook connect app / canvas IFrame app which has a Like control for a fanpage. I'd like to detect when the user clicks the Like button to be able to display additional info (a discount coupon code). I'm using the latest Javascript API but the events that can be handled doesn't seem to include detection of social widget controls. The documentation for the Like Plugin doesn't show any events. However I know its definitely possible because if I have two Like buttons on a page they both instantly update each other if I like or unlike whatever it is.

• Changing the color of a Rebol button

  I want to ask multiple choice questions in Rebol. Possible answers will be on buttons. I want to turn a button red when it is clicked and it is the wrong answer. When the correct button is pressed, I want to proceed to the next question. I can change the color of a box (mybox/color: red show mybox). I can set up a toggle with two colors (but I can't change it based on the result of an arbitrary test (is the answer correct?). It seems like there is probably a simple way to change the color of a button, without having to create my own button-like face objects. Isn't there?

  Hello Developers, I have developed a ASP.Net Server custom control in C# for 3.5. named "myCheckBoxList" inherited from CheckBoxList web control. Working is very simple. It just works as a two option buttons. I have taken a CheckBoxList which will show two fixed checkboxes always. When I check one checkbox then another will uncheck as vise versa. This control works perfectly only when I have placed only one instance of that control on web page. If I place more than one instance of control then it doesnt works. Please, I need solution from expert minds from developers as stackoverflow users.

  I have a ViewController with a NavigationController and I want to add a translucent UIView with some Buttons over the ViewController when I press a ViewController button, the problem is that I can not put the UIView over the NavigationBar. • Fitts Law, applying it to touch screens

  Been reading a lot into UI design lately and Fitts Law keeps popping up. Now from what i gather its basically the larger an item is, and the closer it is to your cursor, the easier it is to click on. So what about touch screen devices where the input comes from multiple touches or just single touches. What are the fundamentals to take into account considering this? Should it be something like, the hands of the user are on the sides of the device so the buttons should be close to the left and right hand sides of the device? Thanks

• Optimizing an iphone app for 3G in landscape with opengl, camera, quartz

  I have an iphone app that basically uses the camera, an opengl layer, and UIViews (some drawing with Quartz). It runs ok on 3GS, but on the 3G it is unusable. Particularly, when I press a UIButton, it literally takes sometimes 10 seconds to register the press. Shark doesn't do me much good because it crashes when I try to profile even a tiny portion, and I've tried turning off some of the layers to see if they might be obvious contributors to the lag. I've noticed that turning off the camera really helps. I'm wondering if anyone has any familiarity with this and might suggest some likely causes. I had issues with extreme slowdown from running my app in landscape mode and using transforms, so considered that might be a cause, but I'm wondering if hoping for a 3G to run something with all of the above elements is just not really possible considering the camera seems to really cost a lot. The fact that the buttons are horribly delayed in their response makes me think there is something fundamental that I might be missing.

  How do you create a "Browse" button in a WIX dialog. I currently have a custom dialog box with four radio buttons (Dev, QA, Stage, and Prod), and a text field for a filename. The install of course dies if the user enters a bad filename. I would be happy first of all just to verify that the file they entered exists. Secondly, I would like to add a File-Browser button, if such things exists in WIX. But even then, I would imagine the user could type in any file name, and I should still check to see if it exists. • How can I use a single UIToolbar with multiple different UIViewControllers?

  I have a simple app with two basic screens, a UIMapView and a UITableView. I'd like to have a toolbar at the bottom with a couple of buttons and a UISegmentedControl with two segments: "Map" and "Table". (The layout is similar to the Google Maps app that ships with the iPhone.) How can I keep the same toolbar while presenting either the UIMapView (with a UIMapViewController) or the UITableView (with a UITableViewController) when the user switches back and forth on the segmented control? Of course, I can just create an identical toolbar for each of the two different views and display them separately, but is there a better way?

• Is it ok to hardcode dynamic links in a permanent view?

  Let's say I wanted to showcase 2-3 clickable buttons on my homepage which will be there permanently. These are links to the css, html, and javascript tag listing pages. Is it fine to just hardcode href=/tags/css and href=/tags/html right in my django templates/view? I won't change them for at least a year or so, meaning I don't think I need to add a column to the tags table to distinguish them - is this common or should I try to make it somewhat dynamic? These tags are in a table but so are 1000 other tags.

• VB 2010 Express - Debugger is not breaking on errors, Sub producing error simply terminates

  I'm using VB 2010 Express. When an error occurs in the form load function, the form load function simply terminates. Then, when I click on one of my buttons, the button click sub also terminates if it has an error. I can wrap the code that produces the errors in try/catch blocks, but I'd very much rather the debugger to throw an immediate break point (like usual) or at least exit the program. It's making it very difficult to program, not knowing whether or not previous Subs executed fully. Any thoughts on what might be going on? Thanks

• How can I test my iPhone app on earlier than SDK 3.0 simulator, make sure it work?

  Hi Stackers! I wrote iPhone application. Very simple! It use Cocos2D only, and all other features is very basic, no accelerometer, no camera, nothing. Just buttons and sounds. I think every iPhone can run this app (there is no limits on Cocos2D right?), but my XCode only let me use 3.0 and upwards. I want to confirm 1 thing and ask one thing: If I put "iPhone OS 2.0" in my iPhone OS Deployment Target in XCode, but my "Active SDK" in XCode still says 3.0, if I compile using this and submit to App Store, when it goes up, people who use 2.0 can still download and use the game yes? Is there way I can test in a 2.0 simulator to make sure it works? My XCode only have 3.0 and higher simulation.

• Date Input in safari

  So I am using the HTML5 date input type, primary to trigger the 'wheels' in iOS. Everything is working fine in ie7-9 Chrome and FF. But Safari for OSX is very upset. It sees the need to add little 'up and down' buttons to the right hand side and generally mess up my visual stylings. My attempt to fix this, is to change the date inputs back to text inputs for desktop browsers, and leave it as date inputs for mobile: unless device.is # 'device' is a lib I use to detect mobile browsers dateFields = $ 'input[type="date"]' dateFields.attr 'type', 'text' #this fails dateFields.datepicker() dateFields.on 'keyup', (e) -> e.preventDefault() $(@).val '' Beyond altering the input type with js, I am at a loss for how to fix this little bugger.   I am using the Model-View pattern on a small application I'm writing. Here's the scenario: The model maintains a list of directories from where it can extract the data that it needs. The View has a Configuration or a Setting dialog where the user can modify this list of directories (the dialog has a JList displaying the list in addition to add and remove buttons). I need some advice from the community: The View needs to communicate these changes to the model. I thought first of adding to the model these methods: addDirectory() and removeDirectory(). But I am trying to limit the number of methods (or channels) that the View can use to communicate with and manipulate the model. Is there any good practice for this? Thank you.

• problem with Infopath Form services

  I want to have some url for my infopath form and give that link to user instead of going to form library and click new...how is it possible? Also when I created Infopath form I have given some text fields and button, I don't want the Infopath services buttons(Save,save as...) how I cna remove those? I published my form into document library. I click new and fill information and submit its working fine but when I reopen it again and try to submit it ...its giving me error...that some rules are not correct ...the rules I have on submit button are submit to document library and close after submitting.Any idea how to resolve this.... Any suggestions would really be appreciated...Thanks
