  I want to show the contents of a file given by a path at a specific state of a git repo. I unsuccessfully tried this: git show f825334150cd4bc8f46656b2daa8fa1e92f7796d:Katana/source/Git/GitLocalBranch.h fatal: ambiguous argument 'f825334150cd4bc8f46656b2daa8fa1e92f7796d:Katana/source/Git/GitLocalBranch.h': unknown revision or path not in the working tree. How can I show the contents of a file at a given state (specified by a commit hash) regardless of the involvement of the file in the commit?

  I have a simple Ruby on Rails form which includes an authenticity_token. Unfortunatly, I missed that when you page cache this page then the Authenticity Token becomes invalid. I'm glad I figured it out however. How do you solve caching in such a case?

  I have a WPF application in which I have a hook at PreviewTextInput, through that I get the currently entered character and I have the string already entered. Given this I need to write the following function : bool ShouldAccept(char newChar,string existingText) existingText can be comma seperated valid numbers(including exponential) and it should just return false when invalid characters are pressed. My code(if else based) currently has a lot of flaws, I wanted to know if there is any smart way to do it.

I created a database link on SMP1 to connect to SMP4 as: SQL create public database link LINK_SMP4 2 connect to CURRENT_USER 3 using 'SP3DSMP4'; Database link created.   I'd like to script p4 a little. Unfortunately, some of the filenames that we're tracking have "@" in the filename. The filenames are in the form [email protected]. If I try to do something like p4 sync a\@b.xml on a mac (or p4 sync [email protected] on windows) it gives the error: Invalid changelist/client/label/date '@b.xml' Is there another way to escape it that perforce will recognize?

  I couldn't find an answer for this exact problem, so I'll ask it. I'm working in Cygwin and want to reference previous commands using !n notation, e.g., if command 5 was which ls, then !5 runs the same command. The problem is when trying to do substitution, so running: !5:s/which \([a-z]\)/\1/ should just run ls, or whatever the argument was for which for command number 5. I've tried several ways of doing this kind of substitution and get the same error: bash: :s/which \([a-z]*\)/\1/: substitution failed

• NTPD: use an unrestricted port for communication

  When querying ntp servers with the command ntpdate, I can use the -u argument to make the source port an unrestricted port (port 1024 and above). With ntpd, which is meant to run in the background, I can't seem to find a way to turn this option on. So the source port is always 123. It's playing around horribly with my firewall configuration. Is there a configuration option in ntp.conf to make it use a random source port?
