  How do I mark a method as "returns an instance of the current class" in my phpDoc? In the following example my IDE (Netbeans) will see that setSomething always returns a foo object. But that's not true if I extent the object - it'll return $this, which in the second example is a bar object not a foo object. class foo { protected $_value = null; /** * Set something * * @param string $value the value * @return foo */ public function setSomething($value) { $this->_value = $value; return $this; } } $foo = new foo(); $out = $foo->setSomething(); So fine - setSomething returns a foo - but in the following example, it returns a bar..: class bar extends foo { public function someOtherMethod(){} } $bar = new bar(); $out = $bar->setSomething(); $out->someOtherMethod(); // <-- Here, Netbeans will think $out // is a foo, so doesn't see this other // method in $out's code-completion ... it'd be great to solve this as for me, code completion is a massive speed-boost. Anyone got a clever trick, or even better, a proper way to document this with phpDoc?

  I want to create a log of when people login or logout of computers in a computer lab. My first idea was to just create login/logout scripts that contact a server, but the problem is since these scripts would run as the current user, that they would then be able to run this script outside of these two occasions. Is there any way to go about running a login/logout script as the domain computer rather than as the user?

  Hi, Is it possible to mutate an object into an instance of a derived class of the initial's object class? If this isn't possible, how should I do otherwise? My problem is the following: My Base class is like a "summary", and the Derived class is the "whole thing". Of course getting the "whole thing" is a bit expensive so working on summaries as long as it is possible is the point of having these two classes. But you should be able to get it if you want, and then there's no point in having the summary anymore, so every reference to the summary should now be (or contain, at least) the whole thing. • Moving the Oracle User Experience Forward with the New Release 7 Simplified UI for Oracle Sales Cloud

  By Kathy Miedema, Oracle Applications User ExperienceIn September 2013, Release 7 for Oracle Cloud Applications became generally available for Oracle Sales Cloud and HCM Cloud. This significant release allowed the Oracle Applications User Experience (UX) team to finally talk freely about Simplified UI, a user experience project in the works since Oracle OpenWorld 2012. Simplified UI represents the direction that the Oracle user experience – for all of its enterprise applications – is heading. Oracle’s Apps UX team began by building a Simplified UI for sales representatives. You can find that today in Release 7, and it was demoed extensively during OpenWorld 2013 in San Francisco. This screenshot shows how Opportunities appear in the new Simplified UI for Oracle Sales Cloud, a user interface built for sales reps.Analyst Rebecca Wettemann, vice president of Nucleus Research, saw Simplified UI at Oracle Openworld 2013 and talked about it with CRM Buyer in “Oracle Revs Its Cloud Engines for a Better Customer Experience.” Wettemann said there are distinct themes to the latest release: "One is usability. Oracle Sales Cloud, for example, is designed to have zero training for onboarding sales reps, which it does," she explained. "It is quite impressive, actually -- the intuitive nature of the application and the design work they have done with this goal in mind."The software uses as few buttons and fields as possible, she pointed out. "The sales rep doesn't have to ask, 'what is the next step?' because she can see what it is."In fact, there are three themes driving the usability that Wettemann noted. These three themes embody the strategy for Oracle’s cloud applications user experiences.  Simplified UI for Oracle Sales CloudIn developing a Simplified UI for Oracle Sales Cloud, Oracle’s UX team concentrated on the tasks that sales reps need to do most frequently, and are most important. “Knowing that the majority of their work lives are spent on the road and on the go, they need to be able to quickly get in and qualify and convert their leads, monitor and progress their opportunities, update their customer and contact information, and manage their schedule,” Jeremy Ashley, Vice President of the Applications UX team, said.Ashley said the Apps UX team has a good reason for creating a Simplified UI that focuses on self-service. “Sales people spend the day selling stuff,” he said. “The only reason they use software is because the company wants to track what they’re doing.” Traditional systems of tracking that information include filling in a spreadsheet of leads or sales. Oracle wants to automate this process for the salesperson, and enable that person to keep everyone who needs to know up-to-date easily and quickly. Simplified UI addresses that problem by providing light-touch input.  “It has to be useful to the salesperson,” Ashley said about the Sales Cloud user experience. Simplified UI can tell sales reps about key opportunities, or provide information about a contact in just a click or two. Customer information is accessible quickly and easily with Simplified UI for the Oracle Sales Cloud.Simplified UI for Sales Cloud can also be extended easily, Ashley said. Users usually just need to add various business fields or create and modify analytical reports. The way that Simplified UI is constructed allows extensibility to happen by hiding or showing a few necessary fields. The Settings user interface, starting in release 7, allows for the simple configuration of the most important visual elements. “With Sales cloud, we identified a need to make the application useful and very simple,” Ashley said. I have installed LAMP server via tasksel command and I have configured the /var/www directory according to a guide I've found: After the lamp server installation you will need write permissions to the /var/www directory. Follow these steps to configure permissions. The thing with this is that I will be working on a plugin for wordpress and I don't want to deal with separate owners under www directory to create or modify files/folders. When I give my user the ownership of /var/www recursively as logan:www-data I can create/modify files but cannot view the http://localhost. I get a Forbidden error. I'm assuming that this is because of the Apache's configuration? Which one is healthier or easier considering this is just a local test website, configuring apache to give user logan to view website and chmod /var/www logan:logan so that I can create files etc. without any sudo commands; or is it easier to configure user groups to get www-data user to act like my logan user? (Idk how that's possible, maybe putting www-data user under logan group?) Please shed some light to this subject. All I want is to be able to create/modifiy files under my user, and yet to be able to successfully view http://localhost I appreciate the help!

Just a plain user - no special privileges. On CLIENT: I run the following from a command prompt winrm get wmi/root/cimv2/Win32_UTCTime -r:SOURCE -u:normal -p:NormalPassword I get an output containing WSManFault: Message = Access is denied. On CLIENT: I repeat step 3 with the administrator identity, i.e. winrm get wmi/root/cimv2/Win32_UTCTime -r:SOURCE -u:Administrator -p:AdminPassword I get the current UTC time at SOURCE. The question is, what are the least privileges I need to assign to the user 'normal' to ensure that Step 3 behaves like Step 5. In other words, what's the least privilege to enable WinRM access for a non-Admin account?

• TortoiseSVN overlay icons do not appear when installed by a different user account?

  I've installed TortoiseSVN on my work Windows XP machine as the administrator. When I login in as a standard user my working copies do not display the overlay icons in Windows Explorer. I found this on TortoiseSVN's support pages: Did you install TortoiseSVN as a different user under WinNT/Win2K/WinXP than you are using now? Go to the settings of TSVN and activate the icon overlays for at least the fixed drives. The installer does this automatically for the current user (can't do it for other users...) but since you are using TSVN as a different user than you installed it you need to set this manually. http://tortoisesvn.net/node/97 I've checked the settings for overlay icons for the current user and the options Local and Network drives are checked. I've tried even toggling them off, applying, then on again and applying, then restarting but they still don't appear. I'm unable to install TortoiseSVN on the current user hence why I logged into the admin account. Any ideas?

• User Provisioning Tool for SQL Server 2008?

  Yesterday I moved my machine from one domain to another - foolishly forgetting the implications for my local instance of SQL Server! Mixed Mode authentication is not enabled, and the only local account login has only "public" permissions. SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 had a tool called the User Provisioning Tool for Windows Vista (sqlprov.exe) which allowed you to add Domain Users to a local SQL 2005 instance (it doesn't work against SQL 2008 btw) - my question is.. is there a similar tool for SQL Server 2008 or am I going to have to do a reinstall? Also let me know if you think this belongs on StackOverflow

• Why does my custom Amazon EC2 AMI have limited instance type options?

  The Basic 64-bit Amazon Linux AMI has the following instance type options available: Micro Large Extra-Large High-Memory Extra Large ... etc I booted up this AMI as a micro type, made customizations, shut it down, detached the volume, took a snapshot, and registered my own custom AMI: ec2-register –snapshot [snapshot_id] –description "my description" –name "my name" –kernel aki-427d952b That worked. HOWEVER, when I try to create an instance from my custom AMI, only the following instance types are available: Micro Small High-CPU Medium ... which coincidentally are the same instance types available if you try to boot up the 32-bit Amazon image. Why are the available instance types of my custom image varying from the available instance types of the image I based it off of?

• Managing Active Directory Group Membership with a Non-Administrator Account In Server 2008

  I am running Server 2008 R2 in an Active Directory Domain Environment. I have created a group in Active Directory and I have delegated management authority to that group to a user. I want this user to be able to add and remove accounts as needed from that group so that they are exercising some measurement of control without giving them other authority. When I have the user attempt to access the Active Directory Users & Computers Console it prompts them for Administrator credentials. They are using Remote Desktop to access the server, because they do not have Windows 7, and firewall rules prevent using the Remote Management Kit. I do not want to provide them with any level of Administrative rights except the minimum required for them to add/remove users from this group. There are two servers that 'talk' to each other in this isolated environment, a domain controller and a member server, both are only reachable through RDP. Any suggestions?

I have 17 apps in production (project based company, only 2 online apps), and some 30 users with 7 groups. prodsel - group that has select privilege on all tables produpdt - update group on selective tables (as required by the apps) proddel - delete prodins - insert permissions for the group Now what my company does is when an app uses certain user (called app1user), and needs select and insert privilege on a table, they 1. grant select and insert for prodsel, prodins respectively 2. add the user under those two groups... now this creates one to many relationship between user and privileges, and this app1user also gets select on other tables granted for the prodsel group. I know this is wrong. Before I explain, I need to know how this is done elsewhere. Please share your experiences, even if you use other Databases that uses OS level authentication.

  I can get into my Windows Server 2008 R2 primary domain controller via remote desktop just fine. It's my boss who's got his profile messed up. When he tries to log in, he gets the message The User Profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. I've looked for his profile everywhere and cannot find it to delete or fix it. System Properties Advanced User Profiles shows my profile, the Administrator profile and the Default Profile. HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList only shows my profile and the Administrator profile. Everything that I've found on the internets points me to those locations. Help a brotha out?

• How do I host multiple SSL websites on a single EC2 instance using Amazon Elastic Load Balancers?

  If I have 3 separate websites which all require SSL (separate certificates) that I want to host on the same EC2 instance(s) across multiple availability zones so that we have the ability to scale and be highly available, how do I achieve this using ELBs in my Amazon VPC? Each site requires a separate IP address, so I have added multiple private IPs to the EC2 instance, but I am unsure how to bind the ELB to a certain IP on the instance. I was also able to setup multiple ELB pointing to the same instance, but again, I am not seeing any way to bind each ELB to a separate IP on the instance. If this is not possible, what is the best option? Run each site on a separate EC2 instance / ELB combo (expensive and harder to maintain) Give each site a separate public IP and use Route 53 to do the load balancing (seems like a hack) Use a different load balancer option such as HAProxy that should be able to work like a normal load balancer appliance. Please help!

• How to make multiple Excel files open in ONE window/instance of Excel 2003 in Win 7

  I'm running Excel 2003 on my new Windows 7 machine. (There is also a Excel 2010 starter pre installed that I do not use). I'm a heavy user of Excel. I use it all day every day. I often have 10 or 15 sheets open and once and many of them have cell references to each other. I also have a macro file that keeps all my short cuts. On my old W2K machine when I clicked on a .xls file or a shortcut to one to it would open that file in the existing instance of Excel. This is as it should be. I would have many files open, in only one "window" or instance of Excel. All the files could interact with each other, the cross file lookups worked, my macros worked and I could switch between workbooks with CTRL Tab or CTRL F6, I could move tabs from one workbook to another. On the new W7 machine clicking on an icon opens a NEW INSTANCE of Excel every time. This is terribly frustrating. None of my connecting spreadsheets work anymore. My macros don't work. I can't connect files, I can't move tabs. I'm stuck. I can't do my work! I can still open files in one instance by doing a CTRL-O and navigating, but I need to my files to work on a click. I'm guessing this is a flaw in the registry files, possibly because of the starter Excel 2010 that came preloaded on my new machine. Can you walk me through a registry edit to fix this bug? Is there an easier way than a registry edit?

We have a very old application based on Omnis7 that needs to create and read/write files on drive C: when running as a restricted user. In Windows XP to give this permission is quite trivial using cacls. cacls C:\ /G Everyone:(C) The equivalent icacls in Windows 7 will not work. icacls C:\ /Grant Everyone:(M) I have also tried the following. icacls C:\ /Grant Everyone:(F) icacls C:\ /Grant Domain\user:(F) trying to create file with a restricted user gives this C:\>copy nul text.txt Access is denied. 0 file(s) copied. After applying the icacls permissions above the result changes to this. C:\>copy nul text.txt A required privilege is not held by the client. 0 file(s) copied. Is this an issue with the way I am applying the permissions? Or is Window 7 being extremely strict?

• Bypass cache for mobile user agents, VARNISH+NGINX+W3CACHE

  Right now I'm running Wordpress w/ W3 Cache on nginx with varnish front end. I'm trying to use the WP Touch Pro plugin for wordpress to display mobile sites, but it is not working. Shows the desktop theme still. I've put the mobile user agents in the rejected user agents box in w3 cache.   I read about EFF's Panopticlick project to see how unique your webbrowser's headers are. I would like to anonymize that a bit. My current User Agent is Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100106 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.7 I would like to make that more anonymous, however I still wanted to be counted as a Firefox and Ubuntu user. How can I change my User Agent in Firefox? What should I change it to so that it's less unique, but will be counted as a Firefox user and a Ubuntu user on web analytics software? I know that there is no guarantee that I will be counted a Firefox/Ubuntu user, just something that 'works most of the time' would be sufficent.

• Migrating Identity Providers - specifying a new users password hash.

  We'd like to switch Identity Provider (and Web Access Manager), and also the user directory we use, but would like to do so without users needing to change their password. We currently have the SSHA of the passwords. I'm expecting to write code to perform the migration. I don't mind how complex the code has to be, rather my concern is whether such a migration is possible at all. MS Active Directory would be our preferred user store, but I believe that it can not have new users set up in it with a particular password hash. Is that correct? What user directory stores can be populated with users already set up with a SSHA password? What Identity Provider and Access Management products work with those stores?

  I lost access to my instance which I host on AWS. Keypairing stopped to work. I detached a volume and attached it to a new instance and what I found in logs was a long list of Nov 6 20:15:32 domU-12-31-39-01-7E-8A sshd[4925]: Invalid user cyrus from 210.193.52.113 Nov 6 20:15:32 domU-12-31-39-01-7E-8A sshd[4925]: input_userauth_request: invalid user cyrus [preauth] Nov 6 20:15:33 domU-12-31-39-01-7E-8A sshd[4925]: Received disconnect from 210.193.52.113: 11: Bye Bye [preauth] Where "cyrus" is changed by hundreds if not thousands of common names and items. What could this be? Brute force attack or something else malicious? I traced IP to Singapore, and I have no connection to Singapore. May thought is that this was a DoS attack since I lost access and server seemed to stop working. Im not to versed on this, but ideas and solutions for this issue are welcome.

I know 6 is not currently [9] but no objection because may be they make ads when 6 is currently version and have RC or beta in their hands. on IE 9 test-drive website they show many of people ads to show the user that IE9 is performance better or other chrome or Firefox not. well they not compare with Firefox because last days firefox not still in news and search trends like before RC release many of user googling for them. Well I myself found IE9 perform smoother then chrome. but what MSFT do after IE9 nothing they waiting for IE 10 not for give updates not as well as Google chrome and Firefox. Are IE9 have anything new for Developer even a small or big. well they tell you blah or useless things everytime when they make for next version no matter for you but a matter for them because they add a new thing even useless for developer. I am not have any feeling with IE bad but I like to make reviews as well as I can make. I show you something who I experience with IE and someother browser like Chrome and Firefox. IE 9 still have no plugin as well as other provided like Firefox have Firebug a great utilities who is best option for developer to debug their code. I found myself that many of website install a software on client’s computer and they still not know about them so they track everything. sometime they hijack the homepage and make their website as their homepage. sometime they do something and you trying  to go to  any website then they go to their site first. the problem I telling about not long before it’s time of late in 2008 whenever Firefox is much better then IE6. if someone have bad experience with anyone of these software share with us I like to hear your voice. whenever IE still not for use Firefox is a good option for us even user or developer. I not know why someone make next version of IE. IE still have time to go away from Web. Firefox not rude as IE they still believe in user feedback and chrome is also open the door for feedback on their product gooogle Chrome. but what thing they made in IE on user feedback nothing. they still thing to teach what they maked not thing about what user need. if you spent some hour on firefox and chrome then you found what’s matter. what thing you have whenever you use IE or other browser like google chrome and Firefox :- as a user IE give you nothing even tell you blah blah and more blah but still next version of IE means next IE6 for the web. as in Google chrome you find plugins addons or customization to make experience better but in IE9 you can’t customize anything even the themes they have by default. Firefox already have a great list of plugins or addons to make experience better with Web but IE9 have nothing. this means IE9 not for user and other like chrome and firefox give you much better experience then IE. next thing after user is developer. first thing is that all developer want smooth development who save their time not take too perhaps saving.posts on IE9 show that a list of thing improved in IE 9 developer tool but are one developer tool enough for web development so developer need more utilities to solve different different type of puzzle who IE 9 never give like in Firefox you have utilities to do a task even small or big one. in chrome same experience you have but IE9 never give any plugin or utilities to make our work faster even they are new headache for developer because IE not give update as soon as other because in Firefox and in chrome if a bug is reported then they solve them fast and distribute them in next version of software very soon but in IE wait for a long time like IE 9 and IE 8 have no official release between them as update. As my conclusion there is no reason to use IE and adopt 9 again. it’s really not for Developer or user even newbie or smart people. as a rule I want to beware you with IE because it’s my responsibilities to move the thing in good way as I can make. well are you sure that there is no reason or profit they thing to have with IE9  if not why they forget luna [windows xp] user. because they are old nothing they want to force user to give them some money by purchasing a new version of OS. so this a thing why they marketed their software. if you thing about what firefox and chrome want to make : Mozilla's mission is to promote openness, innovation and opportunity on the web. chrome mission we all see whenever we use them. but IE9 is a trick they promote because they want to add something to next version of windows. if somebody like IE9 [even surprised by ads they see or post they read] then they purchase windows soon as they possible. • Odd "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" involving xWinForms

  Hey, I've been trying to get the xWinForms 3.0 library (a library with forms support in xna) working with my C# XNA Game project but I keep getting the same problem.
