  • My sound stopped working today, how can I fix it?

    This seems to be a problem with pulseaudio. I was logged in over VNC on my phone and started playing a video this caused X to crash (as sometimes happens). I restarted and suddenly the sound doesn't work. I have a Intel HDA/Realtek ALC889 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller alsamixer is detecting this just fine. PulseAudio doesn't detect this alsa device so is using auto_null as the default sink (logs below). When I properly kill PulseAudio (tell it not to auto-start) direct ALSA communication with the sound card works just fine. speaker-test, for example, works. So the hardware and ALSA layers are fine IMO. In the logs, it seems that the card might be "busy" but I really don't know how or why it would be now (and never before). Is there an ALSA lock file somewhere that it still there because of my crash? I just ran sudo fuser /dev/snd/* and saw this: oli@bert:~$ sudo fuser /dev/snd/* /dev/snd/controlC0: 1884 /dev/snd/pcmC0D0c: 1884m /dev/snd/timer: 1884 A look at the process list (ps aux | grep 1884) tells me process 1884 is arecord -c 1 -f S16_LE -r 8000 -t raw. No idea what this is or why it's running. When I try and kill arecord (as root), it just respawns and rebinds on the hardware. I'm in a very annoying situation where I don't know what is going on and don't know how to find out. I'm open to all suggestions to get this working again. Fire away.     I really like the new People pane in Outlook 2010. Not for the "Social" features, but for finding related emails and attachments. But.. I does not work. It is totally broken. On some people does not show any mail, and only some mails in others. I've tried re-indexing and recreating the profile, not to avail. Do you know some trick to make it work? Using 32bits outlook, without Exchange, only local.

    Search Crawling is error out on my MOSS 2007 installation. I get the following error for all the web apps I have following error in Crawl logs. http://mysites.devserver URL could not be resolved. The host may be unavailable, or the proxy settings are not configured correctly on the index server. The Application Event log also has the following corresponding error The start address http://mysites.devserver cannot be crawled. Context: Application 'SSPMain', Catalog 'Portal_Content' Details: The URL of the item could not be resolved. The repository might be unavailable, or the crawler proxy settings are not configured. To configure the crawler proxy settings, use the Proxy and Timeout page in search administration. (0x80041221) I'm using Windows 2008 server. I tried accessing the site using the above mentioned url and its available. I did the registry setting for loop back issue found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 still not luck. Any Ideas?

  • Communication between Outlook addin and Program Automating Outlook

    I have an application that uses the automation interfaces to Microsoft Outlook to create a mail message and then after it is sent save an archive of that email message in my application. I am hitting issues with a number of the third party encryption addins because by the time the Sent event fires what is passed to me is the already encrypted message. I would like to somehow have them fire the event directly without sending a message to pass me the unencrypted version or I would like them to be able to somehow fire an event to me that passes the unencrypted message in a loosely coupled fashion. I can't seem to find a way to define new events on the Outlook application object so I am looking for other ideas. Thanks!

  • Apache 2 Virtual Hosts no working on OSX 10.6

    This is my first MacBook and I'm trying to get virtual hosts up and running so as it's going to be my dev machine. I've got apache/php/mysql running fine, the problem is that what ever address I go to I just get one of the virtual hosts I've setup. I can't even get to the root site anymore. I had phpmyadmin setup on http://localhost/pma but now that comes up with an error. If I take out the vhosts config file it seems to work again.     Hi all, I just got a new router, cant' get my old xp laptop (Toshiba Satellite) to connect to it, no matter if it's WPA-PSK or WEP (I was kind of thinking with WEP it would've worked but it doesn't). When I go connect and put in credentials the dialog stays up for a few minutes then disappears with no message and no connection is established. Here's the spec of router and wireless card: Wilreless card: Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection Router: Zyxel P-660-HW-T1 v3 Everything works fine on my Vista machine (for once). Any help appreciated!

I have it successfully resolving the DNS names for my DHCP-assigned systems, but only when I fully-qualify those domains. This is despite using the "expand-hosts" DNSMasq additional option, which is supposed to activate this precise function. Here's my dnsmasq.conf: interface=br0 resolv-file=/tmp/resolv.dnsmasq domain=example.com dhcp-leasefile=/tmp/dnsmasq.leases dhcp-lease-max=51 dhcp-option=lan,3,10.77.0.5 dhcp-authoritative dhcp-range=lan,10.77.0.100,10.77.0.149,255.255.0.0,1440m dhcp-host=00:1A:A0:1D:82:5A,astatichostname,10.77.1.40,infinite expand-hosts (FYI: example.com and astatichostname are placeholders for the real-deal names I use.     We have a SharePoint (MOSS 2007 on Win2003 R2) with SSRS reports (from SQL 2005) embedded in it. When we connect to the SharePoint portal through our VPN (firewall is Juniper SA4000) and using Internet Explorer (6, 7, and 8) and try to export any SSRS report under Excel, we get an error message: Internet Explorer cannot download . Internet Explorer was not able to open the internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. When not using the VPN (LAN from the office), everything (exporting under Excel) works fine. When using Firefox through the VPN, it works fine. When exporting to any other format (pdf or text or whatever), everything is fine under both IE and FF. Our firewall people suspect something in SSRS/MOSS/Office. Our MOSS consultants suspect something in the firewall Juniper SA4000.     I can't get USB tethering to work. My setup: iMac with Mac OS 10.6.2 iPhone 3G, Sofware version 3.1.2 (Build 7D11) The phone shows up in iTunes and syncing works as it should. I went to System Preferences / Network and added the iPhone as a Network Service. To the right there is a status message for the selected service. With the iPhone not plugged in, the status message reads: Either the cable for iPhone is not plugged in or the device is not responding. With the iPhone plugged in, the status message reads: Either the cable for iPhone USB is not plugged in or the device is not responding. Almost identical messages, the only difference is "USB". Any clues?

    I installed mono fast cgi for nginx following instructions on: http://www.mono-project.com/FastCGI_Nginx but when i try to load test aspx file i getting 502 error gateway,and following error in error log: 2011/11/28 18:49:51 [error] 5376#0: *6 upstream sent unexpected FastCGI record: 3 while reading response header from upstream, client: ipadress, server: ipadress, request: "GET /default.aspx HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://127.0.0.1:9999", host: "ipadress" I tried different things to change but always same result,except maybe sometime in error log is number 1 or 3 instead 6.Nginx ver is 1.03 64 bit,mono and xsp latest versions. Any idea what could be wrong?

Error 338 (net::ERR_INVALID_AUTH_CREDENTIALS): Unknown error. I've tried looking online for a solution without any success. I'm running the latest version of Chrome 21.0.1180.60

  • Getting hp-snmp-agents on HP ProLiant DL360 on Lenny working

    After receiving our HP ProLiant DL360 I'd like to integrate the machine into our Munin system and thus enable ProLiant specific information to be exposed via SNMP. I'm running Debian Lenny with kernel 2.6.26-2-vserver-amd64 . I've followed http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/getting_started.html and the HP repository has been added to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/HP-ProLiantSupportPack.list . Setting up Lenny SNMP itself is not a problem, I configure it to have a public v1 community string to read all data and it works. I install hp-snmp-agents and run hpsnmpconfig and it adds additional lines to the top of /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf : dlmod cmaX /usr/lib64/libcmaX64.so snmpd gets restarted. Via lsof I can see that libcmaX64 was loaded and is used by snmpd, put I do not get any additional information out of snmp. I use snmpwalk -v 1 -c public ... and I can see many OIDs but I do not see the new ones I'd expect, most notably temperatures, fan speed and such.     Telnet from my mac OSx doesn't work while it works from the AWS instances and other networks. I have no local firewalls. Nothing related in /var/log/system In the below transcript, the telnet hangs at "Trying 74.125.136.26..." I have tried many different addresses across multiple domains.. same result !     I set up LDAP access with postfix. ldapsearch -D "cn=postfix,ou=users,ou=system,[domain]" -w postfix -b "ou=users,ou=people,[domain]" -s sub "(&(objectclass=inetOrgPerson)(mail=[mailaddr]))" delivers the correct entry. The LDAP config file looks like root@server2:/etc/postfix/ldap# cat mailbox_maps.cf server_host = localhost search_base = ou=users,ou=people,[domain] scope = sub bind = yes bind_dn = cn=postfix,ou=users,ou=system,[domain] bind_pw = postfix query_filter = (&(objectclass=inetOrgPerson)(mail=%s)) result_attribute = uid debug_level = 2 The bind_dn and bind_pw should be the same as I used above with ldapsearch. Nevertheless, calling postmap doesn't work: root@server2:/etc/postfix/ldap# postmap -q [mailaddr] ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap/mailbox_maps.cf postmap: warning: dict_ldap_lookup: /etc/postfix/ldap/mailbox_maps.cf: Search base 'ou=users,ou=people,[domain]' not found: 32: No such object If I change LDAP configuration, so that anonymous users have complete access to LDAP olcAccess: {-1}to * by * read then it works: root@server2:/etc/postfix/ldap# postmap -q [mailaddr] ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap/mailbox_maps.cf [user-id] But when I restrict this access to the postfix user: olcAccess: {-1}to * by dn="cn=postfix,ou=users,ou=system,[domain]" read by * break it doesn't work but produces the error printed above (although ldapsearch works, only postmap doesn't). Why doesn't it work when binding with a postfix DN? I think I set up the LDAP ACL for the postfix user correctly, as the ldapsearch command should prove. What can be the reason for this behaviour?

I'm also setting the header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' on both machines. The problem is that when I hit the rewrite rule, I loose the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header setting.   • https not working... binding set, certificate installed

    I've installed the certificate and set the https bindings. However, when I load the site on https it does not load. I've looked at all the settings but everything seems correct. I've restarted the site numerous times. The certificate is stored on the local computer under personal-certificates... I have the private key for the certificate. The port (443) is open. If I try https://localhost on the server, the site loads... but with a domain error (i.e. it's localhost and not thedomain.com). But https://thedomain.com doesn't load. I really don't know why the https url isn't loading... anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
