  • WPF C# Hide TabControl Items on Application Startup

    - by mr justinator
    I've created a start page that loads when the application is run but it is also showing my tabcontrol (two tabitems for editing & diagraming). How do I hide my tabcontrol items on startup and only show it when a user selects file - new? Many thanks! Xaml: <TabControl Height="Auto" Name="tabControl1" Width="Auto"> <TabItem Header="Diagram" Name="DiagramTab"></TabItem> <TabItem Header="Rulebase" Name="RuleTab" > <Grid> <TextBox Height="Auto" Name="RuleText" Width="Auto" Text="" AcceptsTab="True" AcceptsReturn="True" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" GotFocus="FocusChanged" KeyDown="ContentChanged" HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Visible" /> </Grid> </TabItem> </TabControl> Here's my file - new menu item: private void ProcessNewCommand() { if (dataChanged) { string sf = SaveFirst(); if (sf != "Cancel") { ClearState(); } } else { ClearState(); } }

  • Inlining the LaTeX \input Command

    - by reprogrammer
    I'm looking a program to recursively inline all \input{} commands in a LaTeX file. By "recursively", I mean doing the inlining iteratively until no \input{} command remains in the final LaTeX file. I've already come across the flatten package. But, for some reason, my TeXLive distribution doesn't install it. When I execute the command sudo tlmgr show flatten, I get the error message: tlmgr: cannot find flatten. So, I'm looking for alternative tools that are more standard and easier to install.

  • Virtual Function Implementation

    - by Gokul
    Hi, I have kept hearing this statement. Switch..Case is Evil for code maintenance, but it provides better performance(since compiler can inline stuffs etc..). Virtual functions are very good for code maintenance, but they incur a performance penalty of two pointer indirections. Say i have a base class with 2 subclasses(X and Y) and one virtual function, so there will be two virtual tables. The object has a pointer, based on which it will choose a virtual table. So for the compiler, it is more like switch( object's function ptr ) { case 0x....: X->call(); break; case 0x....: Y->call(); }; So why should virtual function cost more, if it can get implemented this way, as the compiler can do the same in-lining and other stuff here. Or explain me, why is it decided not to implement the virtual function execution in this way? Thanks, Gokul.

  • navbar hover issue in ie8

    - by Joel
    I'm having a problem with a child list not hovering correctly in IE8. Other browsers and IE7 seem to work fine. Here is the site: http://rattletree.com/index_1.php If you hover over the nav bars you'll see the sub-list come into view. You can see that the arrow image is not below the navbar in IE8 only. html: <div id="navbar2"> <ul id="navbar"> <li id="index"><a href="index.php">About Rattletree</a></li> <li id="upcomingshows"><a href="upcomingshows.php">Calendar</a></li> <li id="booking"><a href="booking.php">Contact</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><img class="arrowAdjust" src="images/curved_arrow.png"</img><a href="#">Booking Information</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">Press</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="instruments"><a href="instruments.php">The Band</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><img class="arrowAdjust" src="images/curved_arrow.png"</img><a href="#">The Instruments</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">The Players</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="classes"><a href="classes.php">Sights &amp; Sounds</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><img class="arrowAdjust" src="images/curved_arrow.png"</img><a href="#">Listen</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">Photos</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">Video</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id"classes"><a href="classes.php">Workshops &amp; Classes</a></li> </ul> </div> and css: /* OUTER LIST STYLING */ div#navbar2 { position:relative; width: 100%; border-top: solid #000 1px; border-bottom: solid #546F8B 1px; background-color: #546F8B; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar { padding: 0px; margin: 10px 0; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing:1px; color: #FFF; white-space: nowrap; display:block; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li { position:relative; margin: 0px; padding:0px; list-style-type: none; display:inline; } div#navbar2 li a { text-decoration: none; color: #fff; margin:0; padding: 11px 12px; } div#navbar2 li a:link { color: #FFF: } div#navbar2 li a:visited { color: #ffffff; } div#navbar2 li a:hover { color: #000; background-color: #FDFFC9; } /* INNER LIST STYLING */ div#navbar2 ul#navbar li ul.innerlist{ display: none; color:#000; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li ul.innerlist li{ color:#000; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li:hover ul.innerlist { position: absolute; display: inline; left: 0; width: 100%; margin: 30px 0 0px 0px; padding: 0; color:#000; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li.innerlist a { text-decoration: none; font-weight:bold; color: #000; padding: 10px 15px 20px 15px; margin:0; } div#navbar2 li.innerlist a:link { color: #000: } div#navbar2 li.innerlist a:visited { color: #000; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li.innerlist a:hover { color: #e62d31; background-color:transparent; } img.arrowAdjust{ padding:0px 0 0 20px; margin:0; }

  • Is this code well-defined?

    - by Nawaz
    This code is taken from a discussion going on here. someInstance.Fun(++k).Gun(10).Sun(k).Tun(); Is this code well-defined? Is ++k Fun() evaluated before k in Sun()? What if k is user-defined type, not built-in type? And in what ways the above function calls order is different from this: eat(++k);drink(10);sleep(k); As far as I can say, in both situations, there exists a sequence point after each function call. If so, then why can't the first case is also well-defined like the second one? Section 1.9.17 of the C++ ISO standard says this about sequence points and function evaluation: When calling a function (whether or not the function is inline), there is a sequence point after the evaluation of all function arguments (if any) which takes place before execution of any expressions or statements in the function body. There is also a sequence point after the copying of a returned value and before the execution of any expressions outside the function.

  • Git push origin master

    - by user306472
    I am new to git and recently set up a new account with github. I'm following a rails tutorial from Michael Hartl online ( http://www.railstutorial.org/book#fig:github_first_page ) and followed his instructions to set up my git which were also inline with the setup instructions at github. Anyways, the "Next Steps" section on github were: mkdir sample_app cd sample_app git init touch README git add README git commit -m 'first commit' git remote add origin [email protected]:rosdabos55/sample_app.git git push origin master I got all the way to the last instruction (git push origin master) without any problem. When I entered that last line into my terminal, however, I got this error message: "fatal: No path specified. See 'man git-pull' for valid url syntax." What might I be doing wrong?

  • Combining Two Models in Rails for a Form

    - by matsko
    Hey Guys. I'm very new with rails and I've been building a CMS application backend. All is going well, but I would like to know if this is possible? Basically I have two models: @page { id, name, number } @extended_page { id, page_id, description, image } The idea is that there are bunch of pages but NOT ALL pages have extended_content. In the event that there is a page with extended content then I want to be able to have a form that allows for editing both of them. In the controller: @page = Page.find(params[:id]) @extended= Extended.find(:first, :conditions = ["page_id = ?",@page.id]) @combined = ... #merge the two somehow So in the view: <%- form_for @combined do |f| % <%= f.label :name % <%= f.text_field :name % ... <%= f.label :description % <%= f.text_field :description % <%- end This way in the controller, there only has to be one model that will be updated (which will update to both). Is this possible?

  • (My)SQL performance: updating one field vs many unneccesary fields

    - by changokun
    i'm processing a form that has a lot of fields for a user who is editing an existing record. the user may have only changed one field, and i would typically do an update query that sets the values of all the fields, even though most of them don't change. i could do some sort of tracking to see which fields have actually changed, and only update the few that did. is there a performance difference between updating all fields in a record vs only the one that changed? are there other reasons to go with either method? the shotgun method is pretty easy...

  • how to change font color and size within single label component in flex

    - by Rees
    i'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component. Any thoughts anyone? <s:VGroup fontSize="15" color="#ffffff"> <s:Label text="\u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> <s:Label text="\u2022 NEW Features coming soon!" /> <s:Label text="\u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> </s:VGroup>

  • Marshal a C++ class to C#

    - by Adam Haile
    I need to access code in a native C++ DLL in some C# code but am having issues figuring out the marshaling. I've done this before with code that was straight C, but seem to have found that it's not directly possible with C++ classes. Made even more complicated by the fact that many of the classes contain virtual or inline functions. I even tried passing the headers through the PInvoke Interop Assistant, but it would choke on just about everything and not really no what to do... I'm guessing because it's not really supported. So how, if at all possible, can you use a native C++ class DLL from .NET code. If I have to use some intermediary (CLR C++?) that's fine.

  • Download attachment issue with IE6-8 - non ssl

    - by Arun P Johny
    I'm facing an issue with file download with IE6-8 in non ssl environment. I've seen a lot of articles about the IE attachment download issue with ssl. As per the articles I tried to set the values of Pragma, Cache-Control headers, but still no luck with it. These are my response headers Cache-Control: private, max-age=5 Date: Tue, 25 May 2010 11:06:02 GMT Pragma: private Content-Length: 40492 Content-Type: application/pdf Content-Disposition: Attachment;Filename="file name.pdf" Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1 I've set the header values after going through some of these sites KB 812935 KB 316431 But these items are related to SSL. I've checked the response body and headers using fiddler, the response body is proper. I'm using window.open(url, "_blank") to download the file, if I change it to window.open(url, "_parent") or change the "Content-Disposition" to 'inline;Filename="file name.pdf"' it works fine. Please help me to solve this problem

  • Another Java vs. Scala perspective - is this typical?

    - by Alex R
    I have been reading about Scala for a while and even wrote some small programs to better understand some of the more exoteric features. Today I decided to do my first "real project", translating some 60 lines of ugly Java code to Scala to rewrite it using the better pattern-matching features (why? because the Java version was becoming hard to maintain due to excessive combination of regex and conditionals). About halfway through the editing process, Eclipse thew up this error: I get the general impression that the Scala IDE in Eclipse is a lot buggier and less complete than its Java equivalent. Is this correct or do I just have a bad installation? Is there a better IDE for Scala?

  • Recommendations on Triming Large Amounts of Text from a DOM Object

    - by aronchick
    I'm doing some in browser editing, and I have some content that's on the order of around 20k characters long in a <pre>. So it looks something like: <pre> Text 1 Text 2 Text 3 Text 4 [...] Text 20,000 </pre> I'd like to use jquery to trim it down when someone hits a button to chop, but I'm having trouble doing it without overloading the browser. Assume I know that the character numbers are at 16,510 - 17,888, and what I'd like to do is trim it. I was using: jQuery('#textsection').html(jQuery('textarea').html().substr(range.start)); But browsers seem to enjoy crashing when I do this. Alternatives?

  • Creating a custom Publishing Portal Web site in SharePoint 2010

    - by Jourdan
    Custom Web sites built on SharePoint are cropping up everywhere (just visit topsharepoint.com to see). With that said, my question pertains to creating a fully customized, branded site using SharePoint as the CMS as depicted by many of the topsharepoint.com sites. I understand the concept of creating the custom master master page(s) (SharePoint 2010 even includes a minimal.master to start). The problems I have are: What site template does one use? In 2007 the recommended front-facing Web site site collection template was the Publishing Portal. Is this still the case? What navigation do you use? Do you leverage the OOB navigation? If so, how do you style it extensively? How do you keep the on-page editing capabilities within the new site template? Are there any online tutorials are walk-throughs that address all of these issues? I have been searching, but it's really sparse out there.

  • insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext: returning NSNumber bug?

    - by beinstein
    I'm relatively well versed in CoreData and have been using it for several years with little or no difficulty. For the life of me, I can't figure out why insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext: is all of a sudden returning some sort of strange instance of NSNumber. GDB says the returned object is of the correct custom subclass of NSManagedObject, but when I go to print a description of the NSManagedObject itself, I get the following error: *** -[NSCFNumber objectID]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3f26f50 What's even stranger, is that I'm able to set some relationships and attributes using setValue:forKey: and all is good. But when I try to set one specific relationship, I get this error: *** -[NSCFNumber entity]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3f26f50 I've tried everything from clean all targets, to restarting both mac and iPhone, even editing the model so that the relationship in question is to-one instead of to-many. No matter what I do, the same problem appears. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

  • How to improve workflow for creating a Lua-based Wireshark dissector

    - by piyo
    I've finally created a Dissector for my UDP protocol in Lua for Wireshark, but the work flow is just horrendous. It consists of editing my custom Lua file in my editor, then double-clicking my example capture file to launch Wireshark to see the changes. If there was an error, Wireshark informs me via dialogs or a red line in the Tree analysis sub-pane. I then re-edit my custom Lua file and then close that Wireshark instance, then double-click my example capture file again. It's like compiling a C file and only seeing one compiler error at a time. Is there a better (faster) way of looking at my changes, without having to restart Wireshark all the time? At the time, I was using Wireshark 1.2.9 for Windows with Lua enabled.

  • display:table killing me in IE

    - by subpixel
    I want to create horizontally-aligned table cells like the ones on this page. I've followed the instructions, and I've even copied the css and markup verbatim, but no matter what I do IE 8 renders my table cells as blocks (stacked on top of each other instead of aligned next to each other). css: <style type="text/css"> body.TableStyles { display: inline-table; border-spacing: 4px; } div.maketable p { display: table-cell; width: 20%; background-color: #cdf; padding: 4px; } </style> markup: <body class="TableStyles"> <div class="maketable"> <p>< prev</p> <p>next ></p> </div> </body>

  • Making DiveIntoPython3 work in IE8 (fixing a Javascript performance issue)

    - by srid
    I am trying to fix the performance problem with Dive Into Python 3 on IE8. Visit this page in IE8 and, after a few moments, you will see the following popup: I traced down the culprit down to this line in j/dip3.js ... find("tr:nth-child(" + (i+1) + ") td:nth-child(2)"); If I disable it (and return from the function immediately), the "Stop executing this script?" dialog does not appear as the page now loads fairly fast. I am no Javascript/jquery expert, so I ask you fellow developers as to why this query is making IE slow. Is there a fix for it? Edit: you can download the entire webpage (980K) for local viewing/editing.

  • Ajax Fancy Capture in CakPHP

    I have found a nice ajax capture which i would like to use in a CakePHP framework website. The plugin can be found here: http://www.webdesignbeach.com/beachbar/ajax-fancy-captcha-jquery-plugin What I have tried: in the controller: public function index($slug = null, $capture = false) { if($capture AND $capture =="get_capture"){ $rand = rand(0,4); $_SESSION['captcha'] = $rand; echo $rand; die; } if (!empty($this->data) && $_POST['captcha'] == $_SESSION['captcha']) { .... save the post } } in the view: $selectURL = " $(function() { $('.ajax-fc-container').captcha({ borderColor: 'silver', captchaDir: 'http://localhost/img/capture', url: 'http://localhost/contacts/index/contacts/get_capture', formId: 'MessageIndexForm', }); });"; $this->Html->scriptBlock($selectURL, array('inline' => false)); also I have tried with url: 'http://localhost/js/capture.php' which is the original file coming with the plugin but still not working.

  • Disabling a CellEditingTemplate programmatically in in a Silverlight DataGrid

    - by bplus
    I have a Silverlight Datagrid, I'd like to make certain cells readonly programmatically. Specifically I have a CellEditingTemplate, I'd like to turn the cell editing off or on depending on the value of CategoryTypeName (see the xmal below). <local:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Category" > <local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding CategoryTypeName}"/> </DataTemplate> </local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ComboBox Width="90" x:Name="CategoryCombo" ItemsSource="{Binding CategoryTypes}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="CategoryCombo_SelectionChanged" /> </DataTemplate> </local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> </local:DataGridTemplateColumn> Is there a way to do this? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • What are the pros and cons to keeping SQL in Stored Procs versus Code

    - by Guy
    What are the advantages/disadvantages of keeping SQL in your C# source code or in Stored Procs? I've been discussing this with a friend on an open source project that we're working on (C# ASP.NET Forum). At the moment, most of the database access is done by building the SQL inline in C# and calling to the SQL Server DB. So I'm trying to establish which, for this particular project, would be best. So far I have: Advantages for in Code: Easier to maintain - don't need to run a SQL script to update queries Easier to port to another DB - no procs to port Advantages for Stored Procs: Performance Security

  • updating batches of data

    - by gaponte69
    I am using GridView in asp .net and editing data with edit command field property (as we know after updating the edited row, we automatically update the database), and I want to use transactions (with begin to commit statement - including rollback) to commit this update query in database, after clicking in some button (after some events for example), not automatically to insert or update the edited data from grid directly to the DB...so I want to save them somewhere temporary (even many edited rows - not just one row) and then to confirm the transaction - to update the real tables in database... Any suggestions are welcomed... I've used some good links, but very helpful, like: http://www.asp.net/learn/data-access/tutorial-63-cs.aspx http://www.asp.net/learn/data-access/tutorial-66-cs.aspx etc...

  • VS2008: Disable asking whether to reload files changed outside the IDE

    - by SealedSun
    Hi, I have a Visual Studio 2008 project where some code files are generated with each build (a parser, integrated via MSBuild aka editing the *.csproj file). VS does not know about the generated nature of these files (i.e. they are not the result of a "Custom Tool). So they "change" with every build, naturally. And VS2008 asks me after every build if I would like to reload those files: This file has been modified outside the source Do you want to reload it? That would be ok if I had one of those files opened and in front of me, but I get these modal dialogs even with none of the code files opened. So my question is: Is there a way to disable this dialog, per project, per solution or globally? Thanks!
