  • SetSel on EN_SETFOCUS or WM_SETFOCUS doesn't work

    I've ran into next mystic thing in Winapi/MFC, I have an edit box, contents of which I have to select on Tab, Lclick, Rclick, Mclick and so on. The sort of obvious path is to handle the SETFOCUS message and call SetSel(0, -1), which should select all text. But it doesn't work! What's wrong? I tried googling, everyone seems to override Lclilks or handle SetSel in parent windows, but this is wrong from encapsulation point of view, also multiple clicks (user wants to insert something in the middle of the text) will break, and so on. Why isn't my approach working, I tried like 10 different ways, tried to trap all possible focus messages, looked up info on MSDN, but nothing works as expected. Also, I need to recreate the carret on focus, which also doesn't seem to work. SETFOCUS message gets trapped alright. If I add __asm int 3, it breaks every time. It's the create carret and setsel that gets swallowed it seems.

  • Just curious, in NetBeans IDE 6.1 how can i get icons for my custom GUI components in the GUI editor

    This is by no means really important, i was just wondering if the community knows how to put icons for my custom GUI components that show up in the NetBeans GUI designer. What i did was make several Swing components and then i use the menu options to add them to the GUI pallete, but they show up with "?" icons. It would be nice if they showed up with icons similar to swing components such as JButtons, especially for components which are subclassed for Swing components. Thanks!

  • Getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.servlet.ServletContext in junit

    I'm using spring mvc in my application and I'm writing junit test cases for a DAO. But when I run the test, I get an error java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.servlet.ServletContext. In the stacktrace, I see that this error is caused during getApplicationContext. In my applicationContext, I havent defined any servlet. Servlet mapping is done only in web.xml so I dont understand why I'm getting this error.   • Using Excel as front end to Access database (with VBA)

    I am building a small application for a friend and they'd like to be able to use Excel as the front end. (the UI will basically be userforms in Excel). They have a bunch of data in Excel that they would like to be able to query but I do not want to use excel as a database as I don't think it is fit for that purpose and am considering using Access. [BTW, I know Access has its shortcomings but there is zero budget available and Access already on friend's PC] To summarise, I am considering dumping a bunch of data into Access and then using Excel as a front end to query the database and display results in a userform style environment. Questions: How easy is it to link to Access from Excel using ADO / DAO? Is it quite limited in terms of functionality or can I get creative? Do I pay a performance penalty (vs.using forms in Access as the UI)? Assuming that the database will always be updated using ADO / DAO commands from within Excel VBA, does that mean I can have multiple Excel users using that one single Access database and not run into any concurrency issues etc.? Any other things I should be aware of? I have strong Excel VBA skills and think I can overcome Access VBA quite quickly but never really done Excel / Access link before. I could shoehorn the data into Excel and use as a quasi-database but that just seems more pain than it is worth (and not a robust long term solution) Any advice appreciated. Alex

  • Handling Character Encoding in URI on Tomcat

    On the web site I am trying to help with, user can type in an URL in the browser, like following Chinese characters, http://localhost:8080?a=?? On server, we get GET /a=%E6%B5%8B%E8%AF%95 HTTP/1.1 As you can see, it's UTF-8 encoded, then URL encoded. We can handle this correctly by setting encoding to UTF-8 in Tomcat. However, sometimes we get Latin1 encoding on certain browsers, http://localhost:8080?a=ß turns into GET /a=%DF HTTP/1.1 Is there anyway to handle this correctly in Tomcat? Looks like the server has to do some intelligent guessing. We don't expect to handle the Latin1 correctly 100% but anything is better than what we are doing now by assuming everything is UTF-8. The server is Tomcat 5.5. The supported browsers are IE 6+, Firefox 2+ and Safari on iPhone.

  • Java 1.5.0_16 corrupted colours when saving jpg image

    Hi, i have a loaded image from disk (stored as a BufferedImage), which i display correctly on a JPanel but when i try to re-save this image using the command below, the image is saved in a reddish hue. ImageIO.write(image, "jpg", fileName); Note! image is a BufferedImage and fileName is a File object pointing to the filename that will be saved which end in ".jpg". I have read that there were problems with ImageIO methods in earlier JDKs but i'm not on one of those versions as far as i could find. What i am looking for is a way to fix this issue without updating the JDK, however having said that i would still like to know in what JDK this issue was fixed in (if it indeed is still a bug with the JDK i'm using). The outer class is public with no other modification except that it implements an interface that i created (which has no methods or variables in common with the methods and variables listed above). If anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it. This problem makes no sense to me, the code should be identical.

  • Has form post behavior changed in modern browsers? (or How are double clicks handled by the browser)

    Background: We are in the process of writing a registration/payment page, and our philosophy was to code all validation and error checking on the server side first, and then add client side validation as a second step (un-obstructive jQuery). We wanted to disable double clicks server side, so we wrote some locking, thread-safe code to handle simultaneous posts/race conditions. When we tried to test this, we realized that we could not cause a simultaneous post or race condition to occur. I thought that (in older browsers anyway) double clicking a submit button worked as follows: User double clicks submit button. Browser sends a post on the first click On the second click, browser cancels/ignores initial post, and initiates a second post (before the first post has returned with a response). Browser waits for second post to return, ignoring initial post response. I thought that from the server side it looked like this: Server gets two simultaneous post requests, executes and responds to them both (unaware that no one is listening to the first response). From our testing (FireFox 3.0, IE 8.0) this is what actually happens: User double clicks submit button Browser sends a post for the first click Browser queues up second click, but waits for the response from the first click. Response returns from first click (response is ignored?). Browser sends a post for the second click. So from a server side: Server receives a single post which it executes and responds to. Then, server receives a second request wich it executes and responds to. My question is, has this always worked this way (and I'm losing my mind)? Or is this a new feature in modern browsers that prevents simultaneous posts to be sent to the server? It seems that for server side double click prevention, we don't have to worry about simultaneous posts or race conditions. Only need to worry about queued up posts.   • how to determine base of a number?

    Given a integer number and its reresentation in some arbitrary number system. The purpose is to find the base of the number system. For example, number is 10 and representation is 000010, then the base should be 10. Another example: number 21 representation is 0010101 then base is 2. One more example is: number is 6 and representation os 10100 then base is sqrt(2). Does anyone have any idea how to solve such problem?

HTTP_DOWNLOAD depends on many other packages , I downloaded them and the ones they , in turn , depend on and this is the structure I made : Download.PHP <---HTTP_DOWNLOAD MAIN FILE Header.php <--- HTTP_HEADER MAIN FILE PEAR.php PEAR5.php Type.php <--- MIME_Type >Type <---- FOLDER - Extension.php MIME_Type File - Parameter.php MIME_Type File assuming that Http_DOWNLOAD depends on : * PHP 4.2.0 * PEAR 1.4.0b1 * PEAR * HTTP_Header * pcre extension * Archive_Tar (Optional) * Archive_Zip (Optional) * MIME_Type (Optional) * mime_magic extension (Optional) * pgsql extension (Optional) and I edited the paths inside each file to reflect this structure , and I tried to run the following code : <?php require_once 'Download.php'; $params = array('file'=>'file.zip'); $down = new HTTP_Download($params); $down->send(true); ?> nothing happens !! I also got a hard time trying to figure how to use the class and I think this code should work .. but not sure ! Help Please !
