  • iTunes COM interface on OS/X

    - by jldupont
Is the iTunes COM interface available on Mac OS/X? From the documentation I could find, it seems much more extensive than the Applescript interface I could expose through the Automator program. Disclaimer: absolute OS/X newbie here.

  • Calling COM Library From XBAP

    - by Benny
I am trying to call an old COM library from my XBAP and continue to receive the following exception: System.AccessViolationException was unhandled Message: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. I have tried adding the HKLM value for RunUnrestricted to no avail. I don't get anything else but this error when calling the library. Any ideas? (This library even works from a pure ASP.NET app)

    - by rip
Is the following possible in Silverlight when a button is clicked? An Excel template is downloaded from a remote server and saved to the local machine An instance of the template is then opened on the client A macro is then executed within the new Excel document I can do everything apart from saving the template to the local machine. I can save this in isolated storage but then I don’t know where this is when trying to open it from the Excel COM interop code. Has anyone any ideas or is this not possible?

  • Accessing underlying managed object through a COM interface

    - by mfeingold
I have a third party assembly with a public abstract class implementing a certain COM interface. Something to the effect of [ComVisible(true)] public abstract class SomeClass: ISomeInterface { .... public void Method1() {...} } The actual object is an internal object extending the SomeClass and is instantiated by the third party code Is there a way to access public methods of this class if all I have is the CCW to the ISomeInterface?

  • Event on Item Marked as Read in Outlook - Delphi COM Add-in

    - by Tao
I have a Delphi COM Add-in for Outlook (2000-2007) and am trying to find a way to register an event when an MailItem in Outlook is marked as read. I want to add an additional property to the item as/just after it is marked as read. Does anyone have any idea how to do this using the Outlook Object Model? I am also using Add-In-Express components to help get to additional properties events.

  • Setting System.Drawing.Color through COM. Interop

    - by user58909
I am trying to use Aspose.Words library through COM Interop. There is one critical problem: I cannot set color. It is supposed to work by assigning to DocumentBuilder.Font.Color, but when I try to do it I get OLE error 0x80131509. My problem is pretty much like this one: http://bit.ly/cuvWfc

  • Registering a COM control during installation

    - by Curtis
One of our applications needs to register a COM control during installation. If a newer version of that control is already registered, we don't want to overwrite it with the older. What are the Windows MSI install conditions I would user to control this? Or is there some other 'best-practice' method I'm not aware of? Thanks

I set Isolated=true to some COM library that I need to use registration free. Visual studio now created Native.* manifest files for each of my assemblies: Why "Native"? Can I change this? Can someone point me to info I can read? (googling native / assembly / manifest is yield a lot of non-related info ) Is there a way I can embed these manifest files into the assembly DLL? Thanks!

  • WCF wrapper COM object

    - by LarryR
I have a third party COM component (they don't offer a .Net assy), that has the additional feature that it only works under x86 compile. I am trying to wrap this in a WCF service, but if I select x86, the service won't start (System.BadImageFormatException). Any workarounds for this ? Thanks Larry

  • Access violation when accessing a COM object from .Net

    - by Groo
Dear Sirs, I am sorry if the post is too long, but I would be happy if someone would at least point read the bolded titles, and point me in the right direction. I am having this problem for couple of days, but was unable to found the answer on the net. These are the things I have found out so far. 1. "Access violation" exception crushes my managed application My C# WinForms app sometimes closes with an "Access violation" exception ("Attempted to read or write protected memory"), right in the moment when selecting a TabPage in a windows form TabControl. From the stack trace (try/catch around Application.Run) I can see that the exception happens at System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.DispatchMessageW(MSG& msg), called inside UnsafeNativeMethods.IMsoComponentManager.FPushMessageLoop(Int32 dwComponentID, Int32 reason, Int32 pvLoopData). -- Message: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. -- Stack trace: at System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.DispatchMessageW(MSG& msg) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ComponentManager .System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods .IMsoComponentManager.FPushMessageLoop (Int32 dwComponentID, Int32 reason, Int32 pvLoopData) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadContext .RunMessageLoopInner(Int32 reason, ApplicationContext context) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadContext .RunMessageLoop(Int32 reason, ApplicationContext context) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run(ApplicationContext context) at MyApp.Program.Main() 2. The faulting module seems to be a COM object (ChartFX Client Server 6.2) Using WinDbg (with SoS loaded), I caught it on the unmanaged side, inside ChartFX.ClientServer.Core.dll (that's a COM charting component we are using): (ca84.c98c): Access violation - code c0000005 (first chance) First chance exceptions are reported before any exception handling. This exception may be expected and handled. eax=00000000 ebx=06e67c38 ecx=06e67c38 edx=000018c6 esi=06e7df30 edi=317a9e80 eip=31666110 esp=0015e040 ebp=0015e08c iopl=0 nv up ei pl zr na pe nc cs=001b ss=0023 ds=0023 es=0023 fs=003b gs=0000 efl=00010246 ChartFX_ClientServer_Core!Ordinal5507+0x97b7: 31666110 8a404d mov al,byte ptr [eax+4Dh] ds:0023:0000004d=?? Bug is not easy to reproduce (although it can be provoked usually in less than 5 min.) I have several Chart instances in several TabPages, and this usually happens while I am switching the tabs. I still don't know how to reproduce it, besides switching those tabs for several minutes before it happens, so I cannot use our source control to reliably find the build which didn't have this problem. I am accessing the charts through the managed AxChart wrapper class (derived from AxHost), which was created by VS designer automatically. 4. What should be my next step? If someone could point me to the next step I should do to find the actual cause, I would be very grateful. Experimenting (removing and returning code) does not do much good, because I don't know how to reproduce it, so it would take large amounts of time on each iteration just to convince myself that the bug is still there. I have found that people often suggest something like "switching compiler optimizations", but since the exception is not thrown deterministically, I don't want to simply rearrange some bytes and hope that it never returns. Thanks a lot in advance! Best regards, Groo
