  • XMLHttpRequest not working, trying to test database connection [closed]

    - by Frederick Marcoux
    I'm currently creating my own CMS for personnal use but I'm blocked at a code. I'm trying to make a installation script but the AJAX request to test if database works, doesn't work... There's my JS code: function testDB() { "use strict"; var host = document.getElementById('host').value; var username = document.getElementById('username').value; var password = document.getElementById('password').value; var db = document.getElementById('db_name').value; var xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); var url = "test_db.php"; var params = "host="+host+"&username="+username+"&password="+password+"&db="+db; xmlhttp.open("POST", url, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-length", params.length); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xmlhttp.send(params); $('#loader').removeAttr('style'); if (xmlhttp.responseText !== '') { if (xmlhttp.readyState===4 && xmlhttp.status===200) { $('#next').removeAttr('disabled'); $('#test').attr('disabled', 'disabled'); $('#test').text('Connection Successful!'); $('#test').addClass('btn-success'); $('#login').addClass('success'); $('#login1').addClass('success'); $('#db').addClass('success'); $('#loader').attr('style', 'display: none;'); } else { $('#next').attr('disabled', 'disabled'); $('#test').removeClass('btn-success'); $('#test').removeAttr('disabled'); $('#test').text('Test Connection'); $('#login').removeClass('success'); $('#login1').removeClass('success'); $('#db').removeClass('success'); $('#loader').attr('style', 'display: none;'); } } else { $('#next').attr('disabled', 'disabled'); $('#next').attr('disabled', 'disabled'); $('#test').removeClass('btn-success'); $('#test').removeAttr('disabled'); $('#test').text('Test Connection'); $('#login').removeClass('success'); $('#login1').removeClass('success'); $('#db').removeClass('success'); $('#loader').attr('style', 'display: none;'); } } And there's my PHP code: <?php $link = mysql_connect($_POST['host'], $_POST['username'], $_POST['password']); if (!$link) { echo ''; } else { if (mysql_select_db($_POST['db'])) { echo 'Connection Successful!'; } else { echo ''; } } mysql_close($link); ?> I don't know why it doesn't work but I tried with JQuery $.ajax, $.get, $.post but nothing work...

  • SQL -- How to combine three SELECT statements with very tricky requirements

    - by Frederick
I have a SQL query with three SELECT statements. A picture of the data tables generated by these three select statements is located at www.britestudent.com/pub/1.png. Each of the three data tables have identical columns. I want to combine these three tables into one table such that: (1) All rows in top table (Table1) are always included. (2) Rows in the middle table (Table2) are included only when the values in column1 (UserName) and column4 (CourseName) do not match with any row from Table1. Both columns need to match for the row in Table2 to not be included. (3) Rows in the bottom table (Table3) are included only when the value in column4 (CourseName) is not already in any row of the results from combining Table1 and Table2. I have had success in implementing (1) and (2) with an SQL query like this: SELECT DISTINCT UserName AS UserName, MAX(AmountUsed) AS AmountUsed, MAX(AnsweredCorrectly) AS AnsweredCorrectly, CourseName, MAX(course_code) AS course_code, MAX(NoOfQuestionsInCourse) AS NoOfQuestionsInCourse, MAX(NoOfQuestionSetsInCourse) AS NoOfQuestionSetsInCourse FROM ( "SELECT statement 1" UNION "SELECT statement 2" ) dt_derivedTable_1 GROUP BY CourseName, UserName Where "SELECT statement 1" is the query that generates Table1 and "SELECT statement 2" is the query that generates Table2. A picture of the data table generated by this query is located at www.britestudent.com/pub/2.png. I can get away with using the MAX() function because values in the AmountUsed and AnsweredCorrectly columns in Table1 will always be larger than those in Table2 (and they are identical in the last three columns of both tables). What I fail at is implementing (3). Any suggestions on how to do this will be appreciated. It is tricky because the UserName values in Table3 are null, and because the CourseName values in the combined Table1 and Table2 results are not unique (but they are unique in Table3). After implementing (3), the final table should look like the table in picture 2.png with the addition of the last row from Table3 (the row with the CourseName value starting with "4. Klasse..." I have tried to implement (3) using another derived table using SELECT, MAX() and UNION, but I could not get it to work. Below is my full SQL query with the lines from this failed attempt to implement (3) commented out. Cheers, Frederick PS--I am new to this forum (and new to SQL as well), but I have had more of my previous problems answered by reading other people's posts on this forum than from reading any other forum or Web site. • Why can't I set boolean columns with update?

    - by Benjamin Oakes
I'm making a user administration page. For the system I'm creating, users need to be approved. Sometimes, there will be many users to approve, so I'd like to make that easy. I'm storing this as a boolean column called approved. I remembered the Edit Multiple Individually Railscast and thought it would be a great fit. However, I'm running into problems which I traced back to ActiveRecord::Base#update. update works fine in this example: >> User.all.map(&:username) => ["ben", "fred"] >> h = {"1"=>{'username'=>'benjamin'}, "2"=>{"username"=>'frederick'}} => {"1"=>{"username"=>"benjamin"}, "2"=>{"username"=>"frederick"}} >> User.update(h.keys, h.values) => ... >> User.all.map(&:username) => ["benjamin", "frederick"] But not this one: >> User.all.map(&:approved) => [true, nil] >> h = {"1"=>{'approved'=>'1'}, "2"=>{'approved'=>'1'}} >> User.update(h.keys, h.values) => ... >> User.all.map(&:approved) => [true, nil] Chaging from '1' to true didn't make a difference when I tested. What am I doing wrong?

  • Relation between .p7b and .spc digital certificate files

    - by Frederick
My company have just renewed their digital certificate from Thawte. The previous certificate I was using had an 'spc' extension. The new certificate I've been handed ends in a 'p7b'. Although I can use this p7b file directly for signing, I was just wondering whether there's some way to convert this to an spc file which I can then sign with as I was doing previously. Is it a recommended practice to use p7b directly for signing? Secondly, what exactly is the relation, if any, between the two types of files?

  • How to automaticaly mount luks-partition only when disk is plugged in

    - by Frederick Roth
I have the following scenario: I want to automatically backup some data from my Laptop(Fedora Core 17) to a external encrypted(luks) hard disk. The disk can be opened by a key file, which lies on the also encrypted root partition of my laptop. The hard disk is attached to my docking station and therefore only "present" when I am at home (which is approximately 1/2 of the time the Laptop runs) I have everything set up the way I want it with one exception. I don't get a decent way to mount the hard disk automatically at boot if and only if it is present. If I add it to crypttab and fstab without noauto it tries to mount it at boot and takes a lot(!) of time and error messages when it is not present. If I add noauto, well it does not mount automatically ;) Is there a way to configure luks/crypttab to do the following: check whether the disk is present if yes: decrypt/mount if no: just don't

  • Why my AD domain doesn't work on my laptop

    - by Frederick Marcoux
I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on a virtual machine with a bridged network card and installed Active Directory. I configured it and when I try to connect my laptop to the domain name, in this case, creationsmicroweb.ca (doesn't exist, don't try, for local only), I can't get connected. My laptop just doesn't see it. I don't know why! There's a resume of my config: Domain Name: creationsmicroweb.ca Forest: new, principal domain controller IP: Fixed (192.168.1.100) DNS Name: none (just for local, I ignored them) NETBIOS name: MICROWEB If someone as found why, please help me! This is for my business that I'm starting and I can't find why it doesn't work!

  • Windows - Force Wi-Fi to N mode

    - by Frederick Marcoux
I bought a month ago the D-Link DWA-160 Xtreme N Dual Band USB Adapter and I wonder about the speed. I have a 60Mbps but the speed is never above 300Kbps when I browse Internet or download something. Even from Microsoft or Apple (the fastest server I found). Now on Windows 8, we can see the Wi-Fi stats in Task Manager, there they are: Notice the red rectangle. The signal is 3/5 and I'm about 5 meters far from my router. An Apple Time-Capsule. Also, the connection type is 802.11g, I want N. I made this config in my Device Properties: Does anyone figured out to force the 802.11n in Windows? (Windows 8 preferably)

  • Can a virus infect an ISO file?

    - by Frederick
I feel that it's going to be very difficult for a virus to infect an ISO file. What's your experience? Have you seen it happening ever? Is it not nearly unlikely? I ask because I've just found that my computer is infected and I wish to salvage as much stuff as possible. So I was wondering if I could keep my ISO files.

  • "Public" nested classes or not

    - by Frederick
Suppose I have a class 'Application'. In order to be initialised it takes certain settings in the constructor. Let's also assume that the number of settings is so many that it's compelling to place them in a class of their own. Compare the following two implementations of this scenario. Implementation 1: class Application { Application(ApplicationSettings settings) { //Do initialisation here } } class ApplicationSettings { //Settings related methods and properties here } Implementation 2: class Application { Application(Application.Settings settings) { //Do initialisation here } class Settings { //Settings related methods and properties here } } To me, the second approach is very much preferable. It is more readable because it strongly emphasises the relation between the two classes. When I write code to instantiate Application class anywhere, the second approach is going to look prettier. Now just imagine the Settings class itself in turn had some similarly "related" class and that class in turn did so too. Go only three such levels and the class naming gets out out of hand in the 'non-nested' case. If you nest, however, things still stay elegant. Despite the above, I've read people saying on StackOverflow that nested classes are justified only if they're not visible to the outside world; that is if they are used only for the internal implementation of the containing class. The commonly cited objection is bloating the size of containing class's source file, but partial classes is the perfect solution for that problem. My question is, why are we wary of the "publicly exposed" use of nested classes? Are there any other arguments against such use?

  • "Mem Usage" higher than "VM Size" in WinXP Task Manager

    - by Frederick
In my Windows XP Task Manager, some processes display a higher value in the Mem Usage column than the VMSize. My Firefox instance, for example shows 111544 K as mem usage and 100576 K as VMSize. According to the help file of Task Manager Mem Usage is the working set of the process and VMSize is the committed memory in the Virtual address space. My question is, if the number of committed pages for a process is A and the number of pages in physical memory for the same process is B, shouldn't it always be B = A? Isn't the number of pages in physical memory per process a subset of the committed pages? Or is this something to do with sharing of memory among processes? Please explain. (Perhaps my definition of 'Working Set' is off the mark). Thanks.

  • Determining actual args an Excel UDF was called with.

    - by Frederick
I'm adding a user defined function to Excel with varargs-based signature in C++: XLFUNCTIONIMP(MyFunction)(...); When Excel calls MyFunction, it passes it 30 arguments regardless of how many the user entered in the sheet. The extraneous ones are blank strings. MyFunction, however, is designed to accept empty string arguments. As a result, I cannot tell valid empty strings apart from the extraneous ones sent by Excel. A solution could be to obtain the contents of the actual cell where the user entered the function. However, I can't find a way of doing that from within the implementation of my function. Could someone please suggest a way out?

  • SQL Joining Two or More from Table B with Common Data in Table A

    - by Matthew Frederick
The real-world situation is a series of events that each have two or more participants (like sports teams, though there can be more than two in an event), only one of which is the host of the event. There is an Event db table for each unique event and a Participant db table with unique participants. They are joined together using a Matchup table. They look like this: Event EventID (PK) (other event data like the date, etc.) Participant ParticipantID (PK) Name Matchup EventID (FK to Event table) ParicipantID (FK to Participant) Host (1 or 0, only 1 host = 1 per EventID) What I'd like to get as a result is something like this: EventID ParticipantID where host = 1 Participant.Name where host = 1 ParticipantID where host = 0 Participant.Name where host = 0 ParticipantID where host = 0 Participant.Name where host = 0 ... Where one event has 2 participants and another has 3 participants, for example, the third participant column data would be null or otherwise noticeable, something like (PID = ParticipantID): EventID PID-1(host) Name-1 (host) PID-2 Name-2 PID-3 Name-3 ------- ----------- ------------- ----- ------ ----- ------ 1 7 Lions 8 Tigers 12 Bears 2 11 Dogs 9 Cats NULL NULL I suspect the answer is reasonably straightforward but for some reason I'm not wrapping my head around it. Alternately it's very difficult. :) I'm using MYSQL 5 if that affects the available SQL.

And how do I fix this? (The assembly is actually located in C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL folder, if you must know.)

SELECT Event.EventID AS EventID, Event.EventDate AS EventDateUTC, Participant2.ParticipantID AS AwayID, Participant1.ParticipantID AS HostID, COUNT(Recipient.ChallengeID) AS AllChallenges FROM Event INNER JOIN Matchup Matchup1 ON (Event.EventID = Matchup1.EventID) INNER JOIN Matchup Matchup2 ON (Event.EventID = Matchup2.EventID) INNER JOIN Participant Participant1 ON (Matchup1.Host = 1 AND Matchup1.ParticipantID = Participant1.ParticipantID) INNER JOIN Participant Participant2 ON (Matchup2.Host != 1 AND Matchup2.ParticipantID = Participant2.ParticipantID) INNER JOIN Recipient ON (Event.EventID = Recipient.EventID) WHERE Event.CategoryID = 1 AND Event.Resolved = 0 AND Event.Type = 1 GROUP BY Recipient.ChallengeID ORDER BY EventDateUTC ASC My goal is to get a count of how many rows in the Recipient table match the EventID in Event. This code works fine except that I also want to get results where there are 0 matching rows in Recipient. I want 15 rows (= the number of events) but I get 2 rows, one with a count of 1 and one with a count of 2 (which is appropriate for an inner join as there are 3 rows in the sample Recipient table, one for one EventID and two for another EventID). I thought that either a LEFT join or an OUTER join was what I was looking for, but I know that I'm not quite getting how the tables are actually joined. A LEFT join there gives me one more row with 0, which happens to be EventID 1 (first thing in the table), but that's all. Errors advise me that I can't just change that INNER join to an OUTER. I tried some parenthesizing and some subselects and such but can't seem to make it work.

  • VS2008 Pre-Build Event Command BuildAction=None

    - by Frederick
Hi Guys, I am trying to add a prebuild even command line which essentially sets Build Action = None For a list of files before the solution is packaged up for release. How would I go about adding this & what command would I use to exclude a number of files in the web solution ? i.e. \script\some-script.js [Set Build Action = None] etc \script\some-script2.js [Set Build Action = None] etc ?
