  • Wrap words in tags, keep markup

    - by spacevillain
For example I have a string with markup (from html node): hello, this is dog "h<em>e<strong>llo, thi</strong>s i</em><strong>s d</strong>og" What is the most correct way to find some words in it (let's say "hello" and "dog"), wrap them in a span (make a highlight) and save all the markup? Desired output is something like this (notice properly closed tags) <span class="highlight">h<em>e<strong>llo</strong></em></span><strong>,</strong> <em><strong>thi</strong>s<em> i</em><strong>s <span class="highlight"><strong>d</strong>og</span> Looks the same as it should: hello, this is dog

  • How can I get the element in which highlighted text is in?

    - by Koes Bong
I am trying to learn how to write a bookmarklet where I can highlight some text, click on the bookmarklet and have it tell me what got highlighted. I can get that far, but next I want to know what element that text is in. For example: <div id="some-id">to be highlighted</div> The bookmarklet code: javascript:(function(){alert(window.getSelection();})() If I highlight the text "to be highlighted" and then click on the bookmarklet, it will alert the text. But how can I get the element in which the text is in, in this case the element after that? So the flow is: highlight text, click bookmarklet, bookmarklet tells you what you highlighted and the element it's in. Thanks!

  • Executing a jquery effect on demand. Is it possible?

    - by Chocol8
I was looking the Highlight effect of Jquery's. That effect is really the one i would like to add in my webpage. By looking at the the source code, i noticed that the effect will be reproduced on user's click of the div. $("div").click(function () { $(this).effect("highlight", {}, 3000); }); In my webpage i have an ImageButton <asp:ImageButton ID="btnFavorite" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/Images/Favorite.png"/> I would love to perform the highlight effect to the div, when the user clicks on the image button. Is it possible? UPDATE: If it is possible, could i use something like "OnClientClick=" of the ImageButton, since the imagebutton controls are added dynamically to the webpage?

  • latex and listings : highlighting some parts of the code

    - by Jérôme
I'm using Latex and the listings package to display some C++ code (with syntax highlighting) inside a document. I need to highlight some parts of the code. This specific highlight has nothing to do with syntax highlighting, it's just some parts of the code I'd like to highlight so that the reader can focus on it. I wish I could make some variable name, for instance, displaying in bold, and on a yellow background. Here is something I did with MSWord I'd like to reproduce with Latex (of course, not the red and green underlining) : . I haven't found a way to do it with the listings package. Is it possible ?

  • Radio Buttons not highlighting as though they are selected

    - by Ryan
I'm working on an android activity with a RadioGroup containing 10 RadioButtons. For some reason or another sometimes, only sometimes, when you select a RadioButton in the RadioGroup it doesn't highlight as if it's selected but through some tests I've determined that it really IS selected even though it isn't highlighted. Another odd thing that occurs is that when you select any other RadioButton in the RadioGroup and then try selecting your original Radio Button (the one that wouldn't highlight as though it were selected) it does highlight and functions as normal. Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it? Thanks!

  • Select text in edit window using DPAD

    - by rajankz
I am using the DPAD controls to highlight text in android text-widget. I am wondering is there is any way that when i highlight the text, it selects it also. Right now when i highlight and try to bring the context menu, the first context menu I get is the one with options to select word, select all etc. and when i do select word, it selects the entire region highlighted(which is okay , but i wanted it to select while am highlighting) so that i could get the cut/copy and paste context menu directly. Any tips? Thanks a lot.

  • Why is the top menu-bar not accessable when previewing open windows of an application?

    - by coversnail
If I have more than one window of the same application running then clicking its icon in the launcher displays a preview of that application's open windows, When this preview is activated I can't click on any of the icons in the Ubuntu menu-bar/panel/top bar (although hovering over them does highlight the icons). It seems odd that you can highlight the icons but pressing them has no effect. Is this behaviour normal, a bug, or a slight design flaw? I only noticed because I wanted to shut down when previewing the open windows and couldn't click on the panel power icon.

  • How can I work out how many IP addresses there are in a given range?

    - by Jarede
I'm wondering if there is a formula to work out the amount of IP addresses in a given range. I have a system that takes either a single IP address or a start and and end IP address: A single one might be: 145.16.23.241 A range might be: 145.16.23.122 - 145.16.23.144 The people inputting these aren't technical, nor are they receiving these details from technical people, so suggesting using CIDR notation isn't an answer for me. I want to be able to highlight that when entering a range such as: 122.100.10.12 - 128.10.200.140 it might not actually be a range and rather 2 singular IP addresses since such a range would comprise of x (large number of) IP addresses. Is there a basic formula to help me highlight this?

  • Solr WordDelimiterFilter + Lucene Highlighter

    - by Lucas
    I am trying to get the Highlighter class from Lucene to work properly with tokens coming from Solr's WordDelimiterFilter. It works 90% of the time, but if the matching text contains a ',' such as "1,500" the output is incorrect: Expected: 'test 1,500 this' Observed: 'test 11,500 this' I am not currently sure whether it is Highlighter messing up the recombination or WordDelimiterFilter messing up the tokenization but something is unhappy. Here are the relevant dependencies from my pom: org.apache.lucene lucene-core 2.9.3 jar compile org.apache.lucene lucene-highlighter 2.9.3 jar compile org.apache.solr solr-core 1.4.0 jar compile And here is a simple JUnit test class demonstrating the problem: package test.lucene; import static org.junit.Assert.assertEquals; import static org.junit.Assert.assertTrue; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.Reader; import java.util.HashMap; import org.apache.lucene.analysis.Analyzer; import org.apache.lucene.analysis.TokenStream; import org.apache.lucene.queryParser.ParseException; import org.apache.lucene.queryParser.QueryParser; import org.apache.lucene.search.Query; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.Highlighter; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.InvalidTokenOffsetsException; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.QueryScorer; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.SimpleFragmenter; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.SimpleHTMLFormatter; import org.apache.lucene.util.Version; import org.apache.solr.analysis.StandardTokenizerFactory; import org.apache.solr.analysis.WordDelimiterFilterFactory; import org.junit.Test; public class HighlighterTester { private static final String PRE_TAG = "<b>"; private static final String POST_TAG = "</b>"; private static String[] highlightField( Query query, String fieldName, String text ) throws IOException, InvalidTokenOffsetsException { SimpleHTMLFormatter formatter = new SimpleHTMLFormatter( PRE_TAG, POST_TAG ); Highlighter highlighter = new Highlighter( formatter, new QueryScorer( query, fieldName ) ); highlighter.setTextFragmenter( new SimpleFragmenter( Integer.MAX_VALUE ) ); return highlighter.getBestFragments( getAnalyzer(), fieldName, text, 10 ); } private static Analyzer getAnalyzer() { return new Analyzer() { @Override public TokenStream tokenStream( String fieldName, Reader reader ) { // Start with a StandardTokenizer TokenStream stream = new StandardTokenizerFactory().create( reader ); // Chain on a WordDelimiterFilter WordDelimiterFilterFactory wordDelimiterFilterFactory = new WordDelimiterFilterFactory(); HashMap<String, String> arguments = new HashMap<String, String>(); arguments.put( "generateWordParts", "1" ); arguments.put( "generateNumberParts", "1" ); arguments.put( "catenateWords", "1" ); arguments.put( "catenateNumbers", "1" ); arguments.put( "catenateAll", "0" ); wordDelimiterFilterFactory.init( arguments ); return wordDelimiterFilterFactory.create( stream ); } }; } @Test public void TestHighlighter() throws ParseException, IOException, InvalidTokenOffsetsException { String fieldName = "text"; String text = "test 1,500 this"; String queryString = "1500"; String expected = "test " + PRE_TAG + "1,500" + POST_TAG + " this"; QueryParser parser = new QueryParser( Version.LUCENE_29, fieldName, getAnalyzer() ); Query q = parser.parse( queryString ); String[] observed = highlightField( q, fieldName, text ); for ( int i = 0; i < observed.length; i++ ) { System.out.println( "\t" + i + ": '" + observed[i] + "'" ); } if ( observed.length > 0 ) { System.out.println( "Expected: '" + expected + "'\n" + "Observed: '" + observed[0] + "'" ); assertEquals( expected, observed[0] ); } else { assertTrue( "No matches found", false ); } } } Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

  • Chaining CSS classes in IE6 - Trying to find a jQuery solution?

    - by Mike Baxter
Right, perhaps I ask the impossible? I consider myself fairly new to Javscript and jQuery, but that being said, I have written some fairly complex code recently so I am definitely getting there... however I am now possed with a rather interesting issue at my current freelance contract. The previous web coder has taken a Grid-960 approach to the HTML and as a result has used chained classes to style many of the elements. The example below is typical of what can be found in the code: <div class='blocks four-col-1 orange highlight'>Some content</div> And in the css there will be different declarations for: (not actual css... but close enough) .blocks {margin-right:10px;} .orange {background-image:url(someimage.jpg);} .highlight {font-weight:bold;} .four-col-1 {width:300px;} and to make matters worse... this is in the CSS: .blocks.orange.highlight {background-colour:#dd00ff;} Anyone not familiar with this particular bug can read more on it here: http://www.ryanbrill.com/archives/multiple-classes-in-ie/ it is very real and very annoying. Without wanting to go into the merrits of not chaining classes (I told them this, but it is no longer feasible to change their approach... 100 hand coded pages into a 150 page website, no CMS... sigh) and without the luxury of being able to change the way these blocks are styled... can anyone advise me on the complexity and benefits between any of my below proposed approaches or possible other options that would adequately solve this problem. Potential Solution 1 Using conditional comments I am considering loading a jquery script only for IE6 that: Reads the class of all divs in a certain section of the page and pushes to an array creates empty boxes off screen with only one of the classes applied at a time Reads the applied CSS values for each box Re-applies these styles to the individual box, somehow bearing in mind the order in which they are called and overwriting conflicting instructions as required Potential Solution 2 read the class of all divs in a certain section of the page and push to an array Scan the document for links to style sheets Ajax grab the stylesheets and traverse looking for matching names to those in class array Apply styles as needed Potential Solution 3 Create an IE6 only stylesheet containing the exact style to be applied as a unique name (ie: class='blocks orange highlight' becomes class='blocks-orange-highlight') Traverse the document in IE6 and convert all spaces in class declarations to hyphens and reapply classes based on new style name Summary: Solution 1 allows the people at this company to apply any styles in the future and the script will adjust as needed. However it does not allow for the chained style to be added, only the individual style... it is also processor intensive and time consuming, but also the most likely to be converted into a plugin that could be used the world over Solution 2 is a potential nightmare to code. But again will allow for an endless number of updates without breaking Solution 3 will require someone at the companty to hardcode the new styles every time they make a change, and if they don't, IE6 will break. Ironically the site, whilst needing to conform to IE6 in a limited manner, does not need to run wihtout javascript (they've made the call... have JS or go away), so consider all jQuery and JS solutions to be 'game on'. Did I mention how much i hate IE6? Anyway... any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. I will continue to develop my own solution and if I discover one that can be turned into a jQuery plugin I will post it here in the comments. Regards, Mike.

  • Netbeans render unrecognized files as html

    - by nick
Hey Everyone, I am using Netbeans and very happy with it. Unfortunately I am having a little problem with it that I cant seem to figure out. I am using Silverstripe CMS and it uses a templating system that syntactically is basically just a mix of php and html. These files however end in .ss and therefore netbeans doesnt format and highlight them at all. How do I make netbeans format and highlight all .ss files just as if they where normal html files? Kind Regards Nick

What the best way to go about doing this?

  • Any sample C# project that highlights separate data access layer (using EF) to business logic layer

    - by Greg
Hi, I'm interested in having a look at a small sample project that would highlight a good technique to separate data access layer (using Entity Framework) to business logic layer. In C# would be good. That is, it would highlight how to pass data between the layer without coupling them. That is, the assumption here is not to use the EF classes in the Business Logic layer, and how to achieve this low coupling, but minimizing plumbing code.

  • SQL Management Studio - Execute current line

    - by mawaldne
In SQL Server 2008 Management studio, I can hit F5 to execute everything in the current query window. I can also highlight a query, and hit F5 to run that highlighted query. Instead of having to highlight a query, is there a way I can run the single query my cursor is on, or run a query my cursor is on up to a the first ';'?

  • How can I select multiple text segments in a WPF textbox?

    - by luvieere
Is it possible to select multiple parts of text within a WPF textbox? For instance, for a textbox that contains the string THIS IS A TEST, I want to be able to highlight THIS, then hold Ctrl and highlight TEST without unselecting THIS. For a visual clue about what I'm aiming at, see this article about the feature in Firefox.

  • How to catch GMail auto-refresh

    - by nameanyone
I wrote a userscript to highlight the current row in GMail (indicated by the arrow). Unfortunately the highlight will only stay until GMail Inbox is auto-refreshed, which happens quite often. Is there a way to catch that event so I could reapply the highlighting? I don't want to do it on timeout. There is another userscript that does that and it loads up CPU.

  • ASP.Net MVC Ajax form with jQuery validation

    - by Tomas Lycken
    I have an MVC view with a form built with the Ajax.BeginForm() helper method, and I'm trying to validate user input with the jQuery Validation plugin. I get the plugin to highlight the inputs with invalid input data, but despite the invalid input the form is posted to the server. How do I stop this, and make sure that the data is only posted when the form validates? My code The form: <fieldset> <legend>leave a message</legend> <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("Post", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "GBPostList", InsertionMode = InsertionMode.InsertBefore, OnSuccess = "getGbPostSuccess", OnFailure = "showFaliure" })) { %> <div class="column" style="width: 230px;"> <p> <label for="Post.Header"> Rubrik</label> <%= Html.TextBox("Post.Header", null, new { @style = "width: 200px;", @class="text required" }) %></p> <p> <label for="Post.Post"> Meddelande</label> <%= Html.TextArea("Post.Post", new { @style = "width: 230px; height: 120px;" }) %></p> </div> <p> <input type="submit" value="OK!" /></p> </fieldset> The JavaScript validation: $(document).ready(function() { // for highlight var elements = $("input[type!='submit'], textarea, select"); elements.focus(function() { $(this).parents('p').addClass('highlight'); }); elements.blur(function() { $(this).parents('p').removeClass('highlight'); }); // for validation $("form").validate(); }); EDIT: As I was getting downvotes for publishing follow-up problems and their solutions in answers, here is also the working validate method... function ajaxValidate() { return $('form').validate({ rules: { "Post.Header": { required: true }, "Post.Post": { required: true, minlength: 3 } }, messages: { "Post.Header": "Please enter a header", "Post.Post": { required: "Please enter a message", minlength: "Your message must be 3 characters long" } } }).form(); }

  • Prevent an element from being the target in a document mouseover

    - by Sander
I'm building an firebug-like inspection tool for my page. When the mouse enters an element, the element should be highlighted. Now I'm creating an element which I position absolute on top of the target element, this however means the next mousemove event (which is bound to the document) will fire with the actual "highlight element" as the target. Is there a way to prevent the "highlight element" from being the target element in the mousemove event? The element already has a transparant background.
