  For my Semester project i have to go for any Adaptative Interface Design. My language is c# and i have to Use OpenTK(Wrapper for Open GL). I have an idea that I should show Two points and some obstacles. and my subject which is user would drag an object from one place to the final place avoiding the Obstacles. and he can place obstacles randomly.My software should be made to learn some paths by doing test runs and then after learning program should be able to predict the shortest path. I donot know how stupid this idea sounds but it is just an idea.I need help regarding any ideas for adaptative interface possible small projects or if my idea is ok then please can you tell me what should be used to implement it?   I applied for a Web developer job in Quebec City and they call me back for a phone interview everything went well it last for over a hours and at the end they ask me to send code simple and a portfolio but in my research about the company and their products I found a PHP error(bug) in their app. Should I tell them or I will look like a total jerk and blew my chance for a interview? I know it might sound stupid, as a Jr developer I did 2 interviews they didn't went so well and I am very interested in this position part of my question is like a big lack of confidence so to make it short should I tell them about where is the error and how to fix it? • Drawing graphics in Java game

  I am quite new to game development, so here is a question (maybe a stupid one): In my sidescroller i have a bunch of different graphics objects that i need to draw (player, background tiles, creatures, projectiles etc). Most tutorials i've read so far show that each object has its own draw method, which is then called from some other method. What if I had one method that does all the drawing? Lets say i keep all my objects in an array or queue (or multiple arrays) and then go through each of them, get an image and draw it. So basically would it be better (and why) to have each object have its own draw method or one method that does all the drawing? Or does it matter at all? I feel like the second option is more comfortable, because then all the stuff to do with drawing would be in one place...

  I'm currently doing R&D for a web application which we plan to host ourselves initially and then allow customers to self host. My task has been evaluating web frameworks to see which would give us the biggest productivity initially and ease of maintence while also allowing us to easily support deployment to customer controlled environments. Our team has experience with ASP.NET (MVC and Webforms) and Ruby on Rails. Our experience with rails is that windows deployment is a very taboo subject and any questions on IRC or SO are met with knee jerk "why not linux" responses.. However in this case our target market may be running windows or linux servers. Is this also the case in django land? Is it possible with rubbish performance? Is it possible with lost of pain? Is it seen as reasonable and not treated as a completely stupid idea for not wanting to run linux?

  First off I did something stupid. I downloaded a Nvidia driver even though I have an integrated chipset. After installation my unity was still working. However, when I restarted my computer I got an error message saying that I can't run unity. I uninstalled the Nvidia driver. I restarted my computer. Unity still does not work.   My brother has come up with an interesting business idea that could be commercialised. For over a month I have been creating the foundation for SaaS. I have been treating this as commercial project so designing using patterns and best practices. One of the reasons I want to include this in my Resume is my full time job doesn't involve current trendy ASP.Net technologies (e.g Linq/Entity Relationships, jQuery, ASP.Net MVC 3, Silverlight, etc) so the resume lacks impact. In my full time job I work on a 7 year old well designed product and since our data and web layers work well it would be stupid to re-engineer them only because recruiters think Linq, ASP.Net MVC and jQuery are cool. How can I include my personal project in Resume so that it doesn't sound like experiment or quick'n'dirty pet project? Many thanks.

  I may be an alien around here, but here's my problem: the speed limit on old Ubuntu releases (= before 11) was very very fast. It was really great for me. Now, on Ubuntu 11, they may have thought: "who will ever want that speed? Nobody! So let's put the maximum speed to a lower limit". It's so stupid that they tried to narrow down the speed to some other famous OS. If Linux is more powerful, why remove some of its power? I don't get that. So is there any way to override that speed limit and get my keyboard as fast as it is on other previous versions?

  Why should i write a commit message? I dont want to and i think its stupid every single time. A gui frontend i use which will go unnamed forces you to do it. I hear other doing it everytime even if they are using the VCS on the command line. If i commit several times a day and havent finish a feature what am i writing about? I ONLY ever write a message after many comments and i feel its time for a mini tag or when i do an actual tag. Am i right or am i missing something? also i am using a distributed system

• Ubuntu 12.04 installer Crashed

  I downloaded Multiple times Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 12.04.1. And tried to install them using first Virtual box if it work I move to install on actual drive. I dont knw but 12.04.1 dont wanna install on my system So i downloaded 12.04 release and installed it on Virtual box and it installed perfectly then i moved on to install it as Dual OS along with windows 7 but the installer crashed just like the other version and I dont know what the heck is the problem with ubuntu OS Installers. Ubuntu really need to work on their Installer. I love Ubuntu but such things are really headache. At first I thought image was not properly so i burned on another dvd but alas no use same stupid error. Now there are 3 images of 12.04 and 2 images of 12.04.1 and none of them is working on my system. And wasted two dvds. Does anyone know how to solve this problemo.

• System crash when trying to drag cells in LibreOffice Calc

  Some time after upgrady to Saucy I noticed several freezes and crashes when simply trying to drag content of selected cells to another place in LibreOffice Calc (version 4.1.2.3 from repository). The system stops responding - although for example Clementine still plays music from playlist - I am not able to do anything with the mouse (cursor is able to move, but no reaction on clicking). Did anybody of you also have this problem and if yes, do you have a solution? I tried to completely remove LibreOffice and install them again but did not worked for me. Currently avoiding use of drag and drop in Calc but it is stupid. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

  My friend and i are developing a android game. This is my first time develop android game, so we don't know how to code The game is 2d game and we develop it without 3rd party engine / framework. Now we got a few questions, hope you can help us. In game play, using 'Surfaceview' only to achieve it. Is it best practice? On 'Surfaceview', a lot of difference button(Menu, pause, game object..etc) is on it, but I don't know how to code it? (actually, i have already done, but...so stupid way. Detect the user touch position (x, y) to identify where they touch[rect(x1,y1,x2,y2).contain(x,y)] Is it right? Teach me how to do if wrong. View / Surfaceview / OpenGL, which is suitable for us?   I was having problems with sound (mono only output), so following advice from another askubuntu question I made some edits in /etc/pulse/default.pa After rebooting I had no sound at all. So I deleted /etc/pulse/default.pa entirely and tried another reboot. I did not backup the file (stupid, I know). How to come back to working config? edit: I tried: sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio (reboot) sudo apt-get install pulseaudio (reboot) It's still not working. The file /etc/pulse/default.pa is missing. Here's what pulseaudio and pacmd commands show: $ pulseaudio E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup without any loaded modules, refusing to work. $ pacmd No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.

• How do I export customized Libreoffice config files?

  Is this possible? I want to make my own config file for my customizations that I can apply whenever I reinstall my system. For example, Ubuntu's default font color is just stupid. I want it to be BLACK and not dark grey. And I want to turn on autosave every 3rd minute and backup files. Is there a config file that I can change? The .libreoffice/* folders and XML files doesn't make sense, and they don't seem to change when I change stuff in LibreOffice. Could someone please help me out with this? Thanks.

This is probably a stupid question but I'm using this tutorial as a starting guide and I'm stuck with where I have to set a socket with this command fastcgi-mono-server4 /applications=/:/var/www/www.domain1.xyz/ /socket=tcp:127.0.0.1:9000 What path am I supposed to replace '/var/www/www.domain1.xyz/' with? If I run the command as is I get an error saying Error creating the socket: Address already in use root@ubuntu:~# kill 9000; Please help.

• Why does multiplying texture coordinates scale the texture?

  I'm having trouble visualizing this geometrically - why is it that multiplying the U,V coordinates of a texture coordinate has the effect of scaling that texture by that factor? eg if you scaled the texture coordinates by a factor of 3 ..then doesn't this mean that if you had texture coordinates 0,1 and 0,2 ...you'd be sampling 0,3 and 0,6 in the U,V texture space of 0..1? How does that make it bigger eg HLSL: tex2D(textureSampler, TexCoords*3) Integers make it smaller, decimals make it bigger I mean I understand intuitively if you added to the U,V coordinates, as that is simply an offset into the sampling range, but what's the case with multiplication? I have a feeling when someone explains this to me I'm going to be feeling mighty stupid

• Eye of gnome image bug with ATI graphic driver

  I just installed the ATI driver for my Ubuntu 11.10. After some annoying bugs and errors it works for now. But there is one most stupid bug. Whenever I open a picture in the default image viewer (eye of gnome EOG) it shows me an overexposed picture. • Choose at GRUB menu whether NVidia driver should be used

  For some games, I need the nvidia-current driver, but when it's enabled, I can't get my work done as it messes up everything. So is there a way I can get two options in my GRUB menu? One wich will load my operating system with the nvidia-current drivers, and one which will use the default non-proprietary one? It seems a bit stupid to me to have 2 Ubuntu installations (one for games, one for the rest). But I can't get my daily work done with the Nvidia drivers enabled as it messes up some applications, randomly freezes the system, etc. But I still want to be able to play some games. If there's a way to just load and unload the nvidia-current driver with a script or something, that would also be welcome.

• Strange javascript error when using Kongregates API

  In the hopes of finding a fellow unity3d developer also aiming for the Kongregate contest.. I've implemented the Kongregate API and can see that the game receives a call with my username and presents it ingame. I'm using Application.ExternalCall("kongregate.stats.submit",type,amount); where type is a string "Best Score" and amount is an int (1000 or something). This is the error I'm getting: You are trying to call recursively into the Flash Player which is not allowed. In most cases the JavaScript setTimeout function, can be used as a workaround. callASFunction:function(a,b){if(FABrid...tion, can be used as a workaround."); I'm wondering, has anyone else had this error or am I somehow doing something stupid? • How can I copy/paste files via RDP in Kubuntu?

  I recently installed the latest Kubuntu (x64) on my work machine as I am trying to migrate away from Windows. Unfortunately I use RDP very frequently to connect to customer's servers and need to be able to copy files across. I have tried the following packages with no luck: remmina rdesktop xfreerdp My latest attempt to solve this involved connecting one of my folders to the remote server, here is the command I used to launch rdesktop: rdesktop -5 -K -r disk:home=/home/dai -r clipboard:CLIPBOARD -r sound:off -x l -P 192.168.0.2 -u "administrator" -p pass The servers are not all running the same version of Windows, the one I've been trying so far is running Server 2003 R2. Customer servers range from Server 2000 to Server 2008. I've been Googling this like mad but all the solutions I find seem to fail, maybe because almost all the help out there assumes that I'm running Gnome. Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks in advance for your help. Edit: Copying and pasting text seems to work just fine, but that's not what I need.

  I've been toying with isometric and I just cant get the tiles to be in the right order. I'm probably missing something obvious and I just can't see it. • Changed username. Now I cannot log on or view my previous files

  I want to change my username and followed the instructions from How do I change my username? by creating a temp user with admin privileges. While logged in as temp, I did : sudo usermod -l newname oldname sudo usermod -d /home/newname -m newname Now I cannot log in under newname and /home only lists newname and temp Reading through other sites now, it seems I should have used usermod -d /home/newname -m oldname Based on this, I think I may have deleted the contents of my previous home folder?? I'm sure I'm not the first person to do some stupid while changing username, but any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
