• New CodePlex Project&ndash;SPDeployRetract

  I have just finished a new CodePlex project named SPDeployRetract. This is a sophisticated PowerShell script that allows you to to deploy solutions and InfoPath forms with ease. It is especially beneficial because once you set up the instructions in the xml input, you can repeat the process in farm after farm without error. The script also allows for easy retraction. You may always retract the last deployment by setting the instructions to do so. This is possible because every action taken is recorded and old versions of each WSP are backed up for redeployment. • I`ve got some problems with new Acer Aspire S3

  I just got a new Acer Aspire S3 Laptop, and I've installed Ubuntu on it. Here is some problems: 1. Bluetooth (AR3012) can't find any devices. rfkill shows that everything is fine, but I still can't connect to any device. (Maybe it was turned off in stock windows?) 2. Can't change screen brightness (I've tried Timex's solution with new 3.2-rc kernel and some grub options, touchpad works fine,but I still can`t use Fn+Right/Left) 3. 720p video in all players(VLC, mplayer and totem) works wrong. I found some similar problems on intel video chips with vblank sync or something like that. Video plays as it should, but i always see a line which appears on action scenes (looks like some parts of a screen updates faster) Maybe there are some solutions from similar laptops that I can find? PS I've tried ubuntu 11.04 with old kernel and linux mint 12-rc with 3.2-rc2 kernel.

  I am a web designer/developer. Work mostly with large files 50mb+. I currently have a MyBook Live which is connected wirelessly to my MacBook Pro and Dell desktop PC running windows. Since its connected wirelessly(it doesnt have ethernet port) the files are loading slow and its hard to work staright away from my server. Now im looking for better storage/server solutions and looking at dell.com.au/servers. Im not sure which one to choose. • Stop myself from over-complicating applications

  Recently I worked on a fairly large project involving C# and MVVM. This application had around 160 projects in the solutions each seprarated into their own layers. As I have been working on this application for almost a year, building it from scratch as part of a team, I am now coming off that project and onto smaller more trivial projects. As I was beginning to develop a small in-house tool I found myself trying to mimic the larger applications structure and layering but in the end I just had a simple application with several DLLs which I know I wouldn't have done if I had not worked on that larger application before. I am just wondering if there are any techniques I can utilise to stop myself from turning a "code-behind" style trivial application into a full blown MVVM application? Or should I continue developing as I am and try to keep the unnecessary fluff out of the project?

• SPARC T5-4 Engineering Simulation Solution

  A recent Oracle internal performance evaluation for computer-based product design demonstrated that Oracle's SPARC T5-4 server running MSC's SimManager simulation software with Oracle Database 12c consolidates the work of multiple x86 servers while delivering better overall performance.   Engineering simulation solutions have taken the center stage in helping companies design and develop innovative products while reducing physical prototyping costs, and exploring a larger design space, resulting in more design possibilities. For this solution, a single SPARC T5-4 server running Oracle Solaris 11 was deployed to consolidate the MSC SimManager server, the Oracle Database 12c server, and the web application server onto a single platform. • How could I manage Google Adsense to approve my Web App? It keeps denying it

  Google adsense keeps denying my app from having ads, because of an "insufficient content" issue. I manage a Web Application that allows the users to set Youtube Videos as Alarm Clocks. It includes an in-site Youtube search to retrieve videos from user queries and lists the users alarms. The site has a good traffic (500 users per day), is currently promoted by Google in Google Chrome Webstore, and the ajax requests are crawlable, following Google's guidelines (https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/). Although I understand there is not much content, beyond the user-generated, I really don't what else should I include in the site. Perhaps adding contact and about pages, and maybe another section would increase the navigation. Google argues I need a "fully launched and functioning site, allowing users to navigate throughout your site with a menu, sitemap, or appropiate links". They also ask for "full sentences or paragraphs" Isn't a Google Adsense solutions for Web Applications? Would all the web-apps have to include useless navigable subpages?

• Updating "Inactive" Chunks

  In my game, the only chunks (4x4 areas of tiles) in memory are the ones that the player is in. However, chunks need to have updates applied to them over time. A (likely) well-known example would be MineCraft: even if the player isn't in a chunk, the wheat still needs to grow over time. My current solution is to call a method and pass in the time since the chunk was active.. but what if the chunk depends on nearby chunks for information, i.e. vines spreading or similar? Is there any reasonable solutions to this problem, or should I simply not depend on nearby chunks?

  I want to run diskless booting with PXE. The gotchas at the end of the Diskless-Howto[1] is quite long. I am unsure how to get this done. Here are my current possible solutions: use debian live and not ubuntu use aufs [2] The How-To states "confirmed to work with Ubuntu 12.04.". But maybe I am doing something wrong, I don't think it works this way for several diskless clients sharing one nfsroot. What is the most painless way to get diskless workstations? • Cron doesn't execute one of the scheduled jobs

  I'm using a lubuntu desktop, distribution Ubuntu 13.10, i686. This is my problem: in the job list scheduled by cron a job hasn't effect, but in /var/log/syslog its execution is traced. This is the relative log line: Jun 4 09:06:01 kiosk CRON[14189]: (root) CMD (/usr/bin/xinput set-prop 12 --type=float "Coordinate Transformation Matrix" 0 -1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 /tmp/mybackup.log) This job should rotate touchscreen mapping. I try different solutions: I substitute in crontab the with bash -c "", I set "export DISPLAY=:0.0" ("for Graphics related job in Unix Environment we need to set first the DISPLAY...") before the command,...and many other! I know there are a lots of details affect cron execution (path, environment variables, special character and other) and I have no more idea by now :( Could some gentleman suggest me an idea? where can I find the problem?   I'm having trouble downloading xfce4 metapackage. I don't have a desktop yet just cmd line and this is my first time on linux. sudo apt-get install xfce4 brings back Unable to locate package xfce4 Does that with all packages, leads me to sudo apt-get update Leaves me with temporary failure resolving 'downloads-distro.mongodb.org' Read some solutions to fix this but it had me going in circles with no avail. Need to get this working from cmd prompt. So I'm having trouble updating and am lost here without a desktop client. If anyone can help that would be great.

  Definitions MIS = management information system Some list about console based solutions here and some GUI-hacks here. Been fed up to install all those dependencies and no make -files with GUI -things so which console-based MIS would you suggest for a game-development team with graphical -repo, animation -repo, code -repo, stories -repo, etc ? P.s. I do use Git -submodules and the reason for repo -fragmentation is due to roles and size, certain repos such as graphic -repos tend to be quite large so better to keep them separate.   I delivered a session today that describes what's new in Office 2010 for solution developers. It's a session that I have evolved over the past year. My core demos have also evolved, and I'm pleased with the impact they make. The session was well attended, and I was pleased to see plenty of enthusiasm for Microsoft Office solutions from the good folks in the Netherlands. My demo image is still based on Office 2010 Beta 2, and that's something I'm already in the process of changing. • Good analytics tools that can track visitor actions from a particular source?

  Are there good tools that can track what actions a certain subset of visitors (i.e. from a particular source) do once they're on your site? As far as I know (which could be wrong), Google Analytics can't do this beyond telling you how long they stayed, bounce rate, and average number of pages. I'm looking for something that can tell me which links they clicked on, and if possible break it down per-visitor. Free solutions would be great, but I'm anticipating that this would require a paid solution.
