  Hi, I would like to hear some opinions regarding working in small companies versus large corporations. So far, my personal experience has been that esp. for junior programmers small companies have given a more solid background, as follow-up is with experienced workers. In larger corporations on the other hand, the experienced have already worked they way way out of reach. Is this a general feeling or just my bad experience?

  In a project using .Net4 - should there be any issues referencing dlls built for older versions of .Net? We're talking 3rd Party dlls here. I'm asking this as a general question. Specifically I have a problem referencing FluentNHibernate.dll - built with .Net3.5. It worked justed fine before I updated my project from .Net3.5 to .Net4.

Two things I personally thought of are as follows: Impossible to tell someone where an item of interest is located (like, you probably won't say "324-th row, second column") Broken navigation when you return back to an infinitely scrolled page. • Stop silverlight or wpf usercontrols from loading in the toolbox?

  I have a project with 100's of usercontrols. When I load the project in VS2010 and try to open a designer, the toolbox spins and spins until they're all loaded. Winforms has a "AutoToolboxPopulate" switch under Tools/Options/Winddows Forms Designer/General. I cannot find a similar switch for the XAML designer. Does one exist?

  What is the general meaning and where did it start to have variables with leading or trailing underscores? ex: _varName and varName_ I have always thought a leading underscore indicated the variable was a pointer but I don't know where I got this idea. Recently I have seen these naming conventions used in Java which makes that reasoning completely wrong.

• REST services - exposing non-data "actions"

  I understand how to use REST for doing general entity interactions - using urls names to map to entities and the HTTP verbs to map to actions on those entities. But what is the generally accepted way of looking at "actions" more like RPC? For example, let's say I want to send a command for the device to reset? There's no real "entity" here or do I do something like POST to http://mydevice/device/reset?

  I'm not really understanding the interaction/differences between settings and config files. If I add an entry to the settings file, it gets added to the app.config as well. Does this mean that changing the value in the app.config will update the settings? If not, how do I update settings in a live application?   Just had a curious thought, but for general coding and programming, do you think it's best to work out all the logic yourself and start from a blank sheet or just take a code that has been written already(by you or someone else) and just change it to your liking? • Drupal 7: Rename files on upload (via filefield)

  Looking for a way to rename files that are uploaded by users through a filefield. For example, rename user profile photos using uniqid. I found a good solution for D6 here: http://www.wesjones.net/home/2011/03/drupal-6-how-to-change-filename-on-upload but can't find anything for D7. Another option is to use File (Field) Paths, but (1) the module causes warnings on my setup and (2) seems to be a bit of an overkill to install a general module for a very specific purpose.

  I'm using the built in sqlite library on the Android platform. I'm considering adding several general purpose fields that users will be able to use for their own custom applications, but these fields will be blank most of the time. My question is, how much overhead will these blank fields add to my database? Do null fields even take up per record memory in sqlite? If so, how much? I don't quite understand the inner workings of a sqlite database.
