  • PHP MySQL JavaScript or AJAX Image Slideshow

    Hi all, i have searched Google and also searched Stack Overflow to no avail. I am looking for a PHP / MySQL driven dynamic image slideshow. One similar to 'lightcyclers.com', i have information stored in the DB and i just want to display random or popular content etc. I am also not interested in coding one myself as i am busy working on other features. Any links or help would be much appreciated.

    With the tool "mysql administrator" i get a complete connection to my database, I can change userthings and so on. But not PHPMyAdmin nor Joomly Installation will get a connection, they timed out. Any Ideas?

    this is a strange one. I have a date, that is converted to mm-dd-yyyy when posting it to mysql i have re-ordered it to yyyy-mm-dd but yet it still will not insert $date = date("Y-m-d", strtotime($_POST['leaving_date']) ); any advice?   • Mysql - Rank field for a query

    How can I add a field that contains a rows rank within the result set of a query? Initially I used php to rank my results as it was all on a single page. Now I have added multiple pages so now even though I am on the second page the first result on the page is still '1st'. Obviously I could multiply the page number by the number of results per page and add the result number but I imagine there is a better way within the query. Thanks,

    Hi, I am creating and testing a mysql join query but each time so far it causes the database tables to lockup and the site hangs. I have to then call the host and they kill the locked queries. Is this something I can do from phpmyadmin so not to bother them while I tweak the script to work? Thanks for any reply.

SELECT id, LOWER(title) as title, LOWER(sub_title) as sub_title FROM ebay_archive_listing WHERE MATCH(title, sub_title) AGAINST ("key" IN BOOLEAN MODE) However it is not finding rows where the title contains the word "key". "key" is generated dynamically based on a set of keywords, so sometimes it contains + and - symbols.

  • When is porting data from MySQL to CouchDB NOT advisable? Seeking cautionary tales

    I've dabbled in CouchDB and I have pretty good MySQL experience. I've also created one production application that uses both. I like MySQL but I've run into scaling/concurrency issues with MySQL that CouchDB advertises itself as a general solution for. The problem is that I have MySQL based applications that are pretty huge, and I don't really know whether it would be a good idea or not to try to port them over to a CouchDB datastore. I don't want to put in a lot of time and effort only to find out that my application is really not a good fit for CouchDB. Is there any sort of informed consensus on when porting a MySQL based app to CouchDB is NOT advisable? Any cautionary tales? I think CouchDB is really cool and want to use it more. I'd also like to know ahead of time what specific types of data querying scenarios CouchDB is really not good for, or if CouchDB can really replace MySQL for all the applications I create going forward.

I'm using MySQL 5.1 so loadXML isn't an option and I think that ExtractData() method wont be much use either.. but I don't really know. What would be the best way to go about this?

    Given the schema: What I need is having every user_identities.belongs_to reference an users.id. At the same time, every users has a primary_identity as shown in the picture. However when I try to add this reference with ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION, MySQL says #1452 - Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (yap.#sql-a3b_1bf, CONSTRAINT #sql-a3b_1bf_ibfk_1 FOREIGN KEY (belongs_to) REFERENCES users (id) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION) I suspect this is due to the circular dependency, but how could I solve it (and maintain referential integrity)?

  • How to manually build mysql cache

    I have a table of over 150,000 rows of which most would be updated daily. I have mysql caching turned on so the pages load faster however everytime the database is updated the pages load slow again, which I assume is the cache building itself again. So at the moment I have resorted to doing a wget -m --delete-after http://localhost/ on the server however this takes about 4 hours to complete and moves something like 13 gig. Is there a better way to do this?

    I'm new to PHP and MySQL I want a user to be able to store multiple names and there meanings in a MySQL database tables named names using PHP I will dynamically create form fields with JQuery every time a user clicks on a link so a user can enter 1 to 1,000,000 different names and there meanings which will be stored in a table called names. Since I asked my last question I figured out how to store my values from my form using the for loop but every time I loop my values when I add one or more dynamic fields the second form field named meaning will not save the value entered also my dynamic form fields keep looping doubling, tripling and so on the entered values into the database it all depends on how many form fields are added dynamically. I was wondering how can I fix these problems? On a side note I replaced the query with echo's to see the values that are being entered.     I'm currently using statement-based replication. After upgrading to MySql 5.1, I'm considering using row-based replication. After reading the docs it seems that you can change the format of the master on the fly. Will the slave automatically adapt to whatever type of binary log it is sent? Do I have to make any changes to the slave or master to get ready for switching or can I simply modify the binlog_format variable on the master?
