  I am trying to use the ES 2 API in my app but using kEAGLRenderingAPIOpenGLES2 causes bad access at glMatrixMode(). There is a similar question here but doesn't answer my question. If I use kEAGLRenderingAPIOpenGLES1 then everything is fine. I could reproduce the same problem with Apple's sample code. What can I do to make glMatrixMode() work in ES 2?

• Asynchronous callback for network in Objective-C Iphone

  I am working with network request - response in Objective-C. There is something with asynchronous model that I don't understand. In summary, I have a view that will show my statuses from 2 social networks: Twitter and Facebook. When I clicked refresh, it will call a model manager. That model manager will call 2 service helpers to request for latest items. When 2 service helpers receive data, it will pass back to model manager and this model will add all data into a sorted array. What I don't understand here is that : when response from social networks come back, how many threads will handle the response. From my understanding about multithreading and networking (in Java), there must have 2 threads handle 2 responses and those 2 threads will execute the code to add the responses to the array. So, it can have race condition and the program can go wrong right? Is it the correct working model of iphone objective-C? Or they do it in a different way that it will never have race condition and we don't have to care about locking, synchronize? And if there is only one single thread, how can the thread finishes parsing 1 response and jump to the other response because, IMO, thread is only executed sequently, block of code by block of code

• Creating a common selector class with UITableView or UIPicker

  I have several places in my app where I need to select a Foo for further processing from a list of Foo objects. I'd like to do this as a modal view, but neither UIPicker nor UITableView seems to lend itself to the standard approach, since the usual way to do a modal view controller involves setting the parent view controller up as the delegate, and both of those classes need to implement data source protocols, etc. Implementing the data source and selection protocol methods in my parent view controller defeats the purpose of trying to use one common class for implementing this modal selector screen all over my app. Does anyone have any solutions to this problem or am I effectively stuck implementing this selector class over and over again?

• How to set the tableview's top using contentinset property while being at the bottom of the table

  Hi all, I'm having a tableview with 20 rows and 250 as their rowheight. While I'm at the bottom of the tableview, I want to shift the tableview upwards by 65px. I tried doing self.tableView.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(-65.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); Also self.tableView.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake((4633.0f - 65.0f), 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); where 4633.0f is my contentoffset.y, but with no success. When the last cell is pulled upwards, I'm showing a view below the last cell with an activity indicator on it to depict that more data is getting loaded. I need to keep that view visible for 2 seconds so I want to push the tableview cells up and after that I want to bring the tableview to its original position and reset the view below that.   This picture shows a debugging session. "lista" is a NSMutableArray containing, in this case, two elements: 0 and 1. Each element's content is seen on the debugging window as {(unichar *)Xcode_CFStringSummary($VAR, $ID)}:s but if I double click on any element, its value shows on a pop up window. Why is the values don't showing directly? How to force Xcode to show the values instead of this stupid and useless "{(unichar *)Xcode_CFStringSummary($VAR, $ID)}:s" ? thanks for any help.

In the processArray method I release it. NO 2: I get an array by simply calling array. As I'm not owner of this, I don't need to release it in the processArray method. Which is the best alternative, NO 1 or NO 2? Or is there a better solution for this?

• Split NSData objects into other NSData objects with a given size

  I'm having an NSData object of approximately 1000kb big. Now I want to transfer this via bluetooth. This would be better if I have let's say 10 objects of 100kb. It comes to mind that I should use the -subdataWithRange: method of NSData. I haven't really worked with NSRange. Well I know how it works, but then to read from a given location with the length: 'to end of file'... I've no idea how to do that. Some code on how to split this into multiple 100kb NSData objects would really help me out here. (it probably involves the length method to see how many objects should be made..?) • Change (not init) a UIBarButtonItem identifier programatically?

  In IB I can set the identifier of a UIBarButtonItem to 'play' which adds an image of a play button (right-pointing triangle). Is there a way to change this image programatically? I want to change it to 'pause' when the play button is pressed. I know you can initialize a UIBarButtonItem with an identifier but I've yet to find a way to change it after it's been initialized. Is this even possible? The only thing I can think of is to remove the old button and initialize a new one in its place, but this hardly seems efficient. Any thoughts?

• moviePlayBackDidFinish: is not called in application.

  In my application I have used these notifications when playing a video. But, The problem is the control of the program is not entering in to the first two methods(moviePreLoadDidFinish and moviePlayBackDidFinish). It is entering into last method. So, after the video is played and I pressed Done button in the video, I cannot touch any object in screen. I mean I used play button for video to play in a view.   I am trying to implement InApp purchase in my application. I have implemented it as per Apple's programming guide and it(code) was working fine until I created new application, appid, provisioning profile and in-app products @ another developer account. Now, it gives me following error. Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=3 UserInfo=0x2a5a00 "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" Same code works fine if I use previous developer account's appid, pro-certificate and product ids. This is very strange issue, I double checked product id names and other things still facing same error. Any clue..?

• iPhone UIWebView: loadData does not work with certain types (Excel, MSWord, PPT, RTF)

  My task is to display the supported document types on an iPhone with OS 3.x, such as .pdf, .rtf, .doc, .ppt, .png, .tiff etc. Now, I have stored these files only encrypted on disk. For security reasons, I want to avoid storing them unencrypted on disk. Hence, I prefer to use loadData:MIMEType:textEncodingName:baseURL: instead of loadRequest: to display the document because loadData allows me to pass the content in a NSData object, i.e. I can decrypt the file in memory and have no need to store it on disk, as it would be required when using loadRequest. The problem is that loadData does not appear to work with all file types: Testing shows that all picture types seem to work fine, as well as PDFs, while the more complex types don't. I get a errors such as: NSURLErrorDomain Code=100 NSURLErrorDomain Code=102 WebView appears to need a truly working URL for accessing the documents as a file, despite me offering all content via the NSData object already. Here's the code I use to display the content: [webView loadData:data MIMEType:type textEncodingName:@"utf-8" baseURL:nil]; The mime-type is properly set, e.g. to "application/msword" for .doc files. Does anyone know how I could get loadData to work with all types that loadRequest supports? Or, alternatively, is there some way I can tell which types do work for sure (i.e. officially sanctioned by Apple) with loadData? Then I can work twofold, creating a temp unencrypted file only for those cases that loadData won't like. Update Looks like I'm not the first one running into this. This is probably a bit more memory-intensive, though, as both the server and the webview will probably both hold the entire contents in memory as two copies then, as opposed to using loadData, where both would rather share the same data object. (Mind you, I'll have to hold the decrypted data in memory, that's the whole point here).

  I have a UISearchBar added as my table header with the following code. searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:self.tableView.bounds]; searchBar.tintColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:185.0/255 alpha:1.0]; [searchBar sizeToFit]; self.tableView.tableHeaderView = searchBar; Then I set my UISearchDisplayController up as follows. searchDisplayController = [[UISearchDisplayController alloc] initWithSearchBar:searchBar contentsController:self]; [searchDisplayController setDelegate:self]; [searchDisplayController setSearchResultsDataSource:self]; Everything functions as I would like except that the UISearchDisplayController has added a blue(ish) border above the search bar — this bar does not recognise the tintColor I have set on the search bar. Is it possible to change the color of this bar? It is obviously not absolutely crucial but that line is going to bug me forever if it stays blue like that!

  Hi there, I've been searching a lot on this, and can't find anything to help me. I have a UIViewController contained within another UIViewController. When the parent UIViewController rotates, say from Portrait to LandscapeLeft, I want to make it look as though the child didn't rotate. That is to say. I want the child to have the same orientation to the sky regardless of the parent's orientation. If it has a UIButton that's upright in Portrait, I want the right-side of the button to be "up" in UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft. Is this possible? The big nightmare here is that you have to keep track of a global "orientation" variable. If you don't, the illusion is lost and the ViewController is rotated into whatever. I could really use some help on this, thanks!

• UITableView not displaying parsed data

  I have a UITableView which is setup in Interface Builder and connected properly to its class in Xcode. I also have a "Importer" Class which downloads and parses an RSS feed and stores the information in an NSMutableArray. However I have verified the parsing is working properly (using breakpoints and NSlog) but no data is showing in the UITable View. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I'm almost out of them. It's based on the XML performance Apple example.   Hi all I've got the problem that the UIAlertViewDelegate method - (void)alertViewCancel:(UIAlertView *)alertView is not called when I cancel a AlertView with it's cancel button. Weird is that the delegate method - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex works perfectly. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance Sean
