    I'm in the process of writing a small lisp interpreter in haskell. In the process i defined this datatype, to get a less typed number; data Number = _Int Integer | _Rational Rational | _Float Double deriving(Eq,Show) Compiling this fails with the following error: ERROR "types.hs":16 - Syntax error in data type declaration (unexpected `|') Line 16 is the line w. the first '|' in the code above.

  • Why NOT use POST method here?

    I have a classifieds website. In the main page (index) I have several form fields which the user may or may not fill in, in order to specify a detailed search of classifieds. Ex: Category: Cars Price from: 3000 Price to: 10000 Color: Red Area: California The forms' action is set to a php page: <form action='query_sql.php' method='post'> In query_sql.php I fetch the variables like this: category=$_POST['category']; etc etc... Then query MySql: $query="SELECT........WHERE category='$category' etc etc.... $results = mysql_query($query); Then I simply display the results of the query to the user by creating a table which is filled in dynamically depending on the results set. However, according to an answer by Col. Shrapnel in my previous Q I shouldn't use POST here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3004754/how-to-hide-url-from-users-when-submitting-this-form The reason I use post is simply to hide the "one-page-word-document" long URL in the browsers adress bar. I am very confused, is it okay to use POST or not? It is working fine both when I use GET or POST now... And it is already on a production server... Btw, in the linked question, I wasn't referring to make URL invisible (or hide it) I just wanted it too look better (which I have accomplished with mod_rewrite). We set a breakpoint at line of "beep", then lunch the test application under ide debug mode, when ide stops at the breakpoint line (qry.post has been executed), at this time we use microsoft access to open test.mdb and open table aaa you will find there are no any changes in table aaa, if you let the ide continue running after pressing f9 you can find a new record is inserted in to table aaa, but if you press ctrl+f2 to terminate the application at the breakpoint, you will find the table aaa has no record been inserted, but in normal circumstance, a new record should be inserted in to the table aaa after qry.post executed. who can explain this problem , it troubles me so long time. thanks !!! BTW, the ide is delphi 2010, and the access mdb file is created by microsoft access 2007 under windows 7

  • With ARC why use @properties anymore?

    In non-ARC code retained properties handily take care of memory management for you using the self.property = syntax, so we were taught to use them for practically everything. But now with ARC this memory management is no longer an issue, so does the reason for using properties evaporate? is there still any good reason (obviously other than providing public access to instance variables) to use properties anymore?

  • Why and when should one call _fpreset( )?

    The only documentation I can find (on MSDN or otherwise) is that a call to _fpreset() "resets the floating-point package." What is the "floating point package?" Does this also clear the FPU status word? I see documentation that says to call _fpreset() when recovering from a SIGFPE, but doesn't _clearfp() do this as well? Do I need to call both? I am working on an application that unmasks some FP exceptions (using _controlfp()). When I want to reset the FPU to the default state (say, when calling to .NET code), should I just call _clearfp(), _fpreset(), or both. This is performance critical code, so I don't want to call both if I don't have to...

  • Why do my horizontal toolstrips keep stacking verticaly?

    I'm using a ToolStripContainer that contains three ToolStrips. At design time I move the ToolStrips to the positions I want them in, which is in a horizontal row across the top of the form like this: I then close and save the Form. However, if I open the form up again the ToolStrips end up stacked up on the left side of the ToolStripContainer like this: How can I keep the ToolStrips in the positions that I specify?

    I've created a custom log4net appender. It descends from log4net.Appender.SmtpAppender which descends from log4net.Appender.BufferingAppenderSkeleton. I programatically setup the following parameters in its constructor: this.Lossy = false; //don't drop any messages this.BufferSize = 3; //buffer up to 3 messages this.Threshold = log4net.Core.Level.Error; //append messages of Error or higher this.Evaluator = new log4net.Core.LevelEvaluator(Level.Off); //don't flush the buffer for any message, regardless of level I expect this would buffer 3 events of level Error or higher and deliver those events when the buffer is filled. However, I'm finding that the events are not buffered at all; instead, SendBuffer() is called immediately every time an error is logged. Is there a mistake in my configuration? Thanks

  • Why is run() not immediately called when start() called on a thread object in java

    Or is it? I have a thread object from: Thread myThread = new Thread(pObject); Where pObject is an object of a class implementing the Runnable interface and then I have the start method called on the thread object like so: myThread.start(); Now, my understanding is that when start() is called, the JVM implicitly (and immediately) calls the run() method which may be overridden (as it is in my case) However, in my case, it appears that the start() method is not called immediately (as desired) but until the other statements/methods are completed from the calling block i.e. if I had a method after the start() call like so: myThread.start(); doSomethingElse(); doSomthingElse() gets executed before the run() method is run at all. Perhaps I am wrong with the initial premise that run() is always called right after the start() is called. Please help! The desired again is making executing run() right after start(). Thanks.

    Hi I have a page with a flexigrid on it and it works on FF,Chrome,Opera except IE. it points out that the error is at line of "if(!btn.separator)" which is null or not an object.
