• Why Java interfaces can't have constructors?

I know that Java interfaces can't be directly instantiated so they don't need constructors and that they can have only public static final attributes so they don't need constructors to set them up but that's not the expected answer.

  I have produced a new Maven Project from gae-archetype-gwt from within IntelliJ, and everything is generated well, but the gae:... goals won't show up in the Maven View, and if I try to update Repository Indices, apart from the local repository I get errors only. When I run gae:unpack from terminal, everything works fine. Im running Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1 and am using open-jdk, for which IntelliJ is also configured. UPDATE: WORKS FINE WITH UBUNTU 10.04 FINAL + JDK FROM PARTNER REPOSITORY

• Why does SQLite not bring back any results from my database

  This is my first SQLite based iPhone app and I am trying to get it to read a menu hierarchy from my database. • Why make anything internal?

  I don't really see the point of making methods or classes internal. In my very limited understanding, all it does is make working with your code very difficult for other programmers. Say I write Big_Important_Class for Project A and make said class internal. Then Bob, working on Project B needs to use my class to have project B work with Project A, but since its internal he can't. As of now this is the only thing I have seen internals do, make things really complicated for the guy working on Project B. I know there has to be a good reason to use internals, but I don't see any. Could someone please explain how they can be a good thing?

• Why aren't these Canvases rendering?

  I'm creating a web app that allows users to enter a number of colors, by specifying RGB values. Upon submission, the user will see a canvas with a solid rectangle drawn in the color chosen. On this page, I have 7 canvases. The first one draws just fine, but none of the rest show up. The browser is Safari. • iPhone SDK: Why is didSelectRowAtIndexPath not being fired?

  I have a view with a table on it. When the app starts, it loads the first 5 visble cells. That works as expected. My problem is that, when I try to scroll down in the table the app crashes with this error. What I've found is that didSelectRowAtIndexPath is not being called. AFAIK, all I need to do is to subscribe to the delegate. • Why is parsing a jSON response to a jQUERY ajax request not working

  I know there are several similar questions on SO, I have used some of them to get this far. I am trying to list a set of urls that match my input values. I have a servlet which takes some input e.g. "aus" in the example below and returns some output using out.print() e.g. the two urls I have shown below. EXAMPLE Input: "aus" Output: [{"url":"http://dbpedia.org/resource/Stifel_Nicolaus"},{"url":"http://sempedia.org/ontology/object/Australia"}] Which is exactly what I want. I have seen that firebug doesn't seem to have anything in the response section despite having called out.print(jsonString); and it seems that out.print(jsonString); is working as expected which suggests that the variable 'jsonString' contains the expected values. • Why shouldn't I use Flash?

  I heard many times i should avoid flash for my website. Yet no one has told me a good reason. I searched for reasons and i see many that are not true (such as text in flash are not indexable by search engines) or may not necessarily be true or significant enough (eating more bandwidth. Would a JS equivalent be bigger or smaller?). My site uses flash to playback sound (m4a). I dont have to worry about indexing, the back button not working, etc. But i have feeling there may be other reasons. What are reasons i shouldnt use flash on my website. I'll note one, the fact iphone/itouch and mobile devices does not support it. Not a big deal for most sites and is obvious. What are reason to avoid flash on my site?

• Why do I get "could not load type" error with my custom SessionStateProvider

  My associate has created a custom SessionStateProvider for me to use with my ASP.net application. I add the file CustomSessionStateProvider to my VS2008 Web Application Project and put the appropriate reference in the web.config and it works fine. However, my supervisor wants me to set this up as a GAC reference. At my office, we have many DLLs we've created that we use as GAC references across different projects. If I add my CustomSessionStateProvider to the Global Assembly Cache, my pages throw a could not load type CustomASP.CustomSessionStateProvider error. Simple removing the DLL from the GAC makes it work again, but I want to set this up as a GAC reference. What could be causing this problem?

  I have my project in .NET that uses a db in MSSQL Server,i'm using LINQ , sometimes when the projec throws me an exception (Constraint) in a part of the project this same error keeps showing in other part of the project when i do another thing with the db, like when i do an insertion and i had before an exception on delete the insertion throws me the delete exeption, and it remainds this way until i close and open again the project, my major problem is when this happen in my online project, this error in my project causes me problems in the project i'm testing online (i use the same db). I don't know if this exception is on the memory or something but its have been causing me a lot of headechs.

• [IceFaces] Why are validators of unchanged components called?

  I have a IceFaces-form and several input fields. Let's say I have this: <ice:selectOneMenu id="accountMenu" value="#{accountController.account.aId}" validator="#{accountController.validateAccount}"> <f:selectItems id="accountItems" value="#{accountController.accountItems}" /> </ice:selectOneMenu> and this: <ice:selectOneMenu id="costumerMenu" value="#{customerController.customer.cId}" validator="#{customerController.validateCustomer"> <f:selectItems id="customerItems" value="#{customerController.customerItems}" /> </ice:selectOneMenu> If I change one value, the respective validator is called, what is fine. But also the other validator is called, which is not fine, because the user get's an irritating message to insert a value to a field he maybe was just going to pay attention to. It's like poking the user with a stick to "Hurry up now!". BAD! I thought the attribute "partialSubmit" is controlling this behaviour, so only the one DOM-part is submitted, which is affected by the user interaction, but if I declare the both components to be partially submitted, nothing changes. Still both validators are called if one component value is changed. How can I prevent the whole form from being validated until it is submitted completely?
