  • Singleton EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by lclaud
    Hi, so I have a class that I decleare as a singleton and in that class I have a NSMutableArray that contains some NSDictionaries with some key/value pairs in them. The trouble is it doesn't work and I dont't know why... I mean it crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS but i don't know where. I followed the code and it did create a new array on first add, made it to the end of the funtion ..and crashed ... @interface dataBase : NSObject { NSMutableArray *inregistrari; } @property (nonatomic,retain) NSMutableArray *inregistrari; -(void)adaugaInregistrareCuData:(NSDate *)data siValoare:(NSNumber *)suma caVenit:(BOOL)venit cuDetaliu:(NSString *)detaliu; -(NSDictionary *)raportIntreData:(NSDate *)dataInitiala siData:(NSDate *)dataFinala; -(NSArray *)luniDisponibileIntreData:(NSDate *)dataInitiala siData:(NSDate *)dataFinala; -(NSArray *)aniDisponibiliIntreData:(NSDate *)dataInitiala siData:(NSDate *)dataFinala; -(NSArray *)vectorDateIntreData:(NSDate *)dataI siData:(NSDate *)dataF; -(void)salveazaInFisier; -(void)incarcaDinFisier; + (dataBase *)shareddataBase; @end And here is the .m file #import "dataBase.h" #import "SynthesizeSingleton.h" @implementation dataBase @synthesize inregistrari; SYNTHESIZE_SINGLETON_FOR_CLASS(dataBase); -(void)adaugaInregistrareCuData:(NSDate *)data siValoare:(NSNumber *)suma caVenit:(BOOL)venit cuDetaliu:(NSString *)detaliu{ NSNumber *v=[NSNumber numberWithBool:venit]; NSArray *input=[NSArray arrayWithObjects:data,suma,v,detaliu,nil]; NSArray *keys=[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"data",@"suma",@"venit",@"detaliu",nil]; NSDictionary *inreg=[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjects:input forKeys:keys]; if(inregistrari == nil) { inregistrari=[[NSMutableArray alloc ] initWithObjects:inreg,nil]; }else { [inregistrari addObject:inreg]; } [inreg release]; [input release]; [keys release]; } It made it to the end of that adaugaInregistrareCuData ... ok . said the array had one object ... and then crashed

  • How to get title of UITabBarItem in the More section?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have a UITabBarControllerDelegate method that determines the title of the UITabBarItem and does something accordingly. This works well for items in my UITabBar but when I click on the More button the rest of my UITabBarItems are in a UITableView. How can I determine the title in the More section? - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if ([self.tabBarController.selectedViewController.title isEqualToString:@"All"]) { //do something } }

  • Determining credit/debit card type

    - by ct2k7
    Hi, I'm writing a POS application for the iPhone/iPod combination, using the same exact hardware used in Apple Stores:: EasyPay. Ok, my hurdle is this: how do I identify which credit card type is being used as text is entered in the uitextfield? I assume I've to use textField:shouldChangeCharactersInRange:replacementString:? However, I've got ideas floating around, but I simple cannot put them together to form code :/ Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advanced :D

  • How Do I create a synchronous version of NSURLConnection

    - by quinn
    I am using NSURLConnection inside of an NSIncrementalStore to synchronize my NSManagedObject with rest based web service built in Rails. I am aware of +sendSynchronousRequest:returningResponse:error but my understanding is that will not allow me to access such things as the HTTP response status code which I will need to properly handle the response, my understanding is sendSynchronousRequest returns the data if it responds in the 200 range and fails if it doesn't and doesn't really give you much more than that. I'm assuming I will somehow have to block the current method call after the NSURLConnection is instantiated and unblock it after NSURLConnection's delegate sets some value that can be returned by the blocked method. I'm assuming this will involve some combination of NSLock and NSThread but I really don't know where to start with this, any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • Where should I remove a notification observer?

    - by nevan
    I set up a notification observer in my view controll init method like so: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(saveState) name:UIApplicationWillResignActiveNotification object:nil]; Where is the best place to call removeObserver:name:object: for this notification. I'm currently calling it in my dealloc method, but wanted to know if that might cause problems.

  • UILabel: Using the userInteractionEnabled method on a label

    - by Kevin Bomberry
    Hello again. I am wondering if anyone has used the userInteractionEnabled method on a UILabel to allow the label to act like a button (or just to fire off a method). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! Update (4/30/09 @1:07pm) Clarification: I have a standard InfoButton and next to it I want to place a label with the text "settings" and I would like the label to function like the button (which flips over to a settings screen. So, basically I need to tie the already defined showSettinsView to the "infoLabel" label; a user clicks on the infoButton or infoLabel and the method fires off. The infoButton is already working and is using an IBAction to trigger the method. I would like to know how to wire up the label to implement the same method. That is all. Cheers!

  • Issue with UITextView in an animation block

    - by collin
    I'm having an issue with a UITextView inside another UIView whose frame is manipulated in an animation block when the keyboard displays. During the animation block the UIView scales beautifully and as expected, but the UITextView jumps out of it's superview(the UIView being animated) at the start of the animation. By the end of the animation, the UITextView ends up in the right place... what gives? Can anybody explain why the UITextView is jumping out of it's container view at the start of the animation? Thanks in advance.

  • Objects in interface

    - by Peter Kowalchuk
    I created my own object, PKSurvey. In the interface of the View Controller I can define a pointer to it, then in a method I can alloc it and have an instance. How do I keep the instance beyond the method where it was allocated? I assign values in one method and want to be able to use those values in other methods. Should I allocate it in the viewDidLoad method or should I do it somewhere else? @interface DIrectionalDrillerViewController : UIViewController { PKSurvey *Survey=[PKSurvey new]; ---------------- - (void)viewDidLoad { [Survey new];

  • libtool failed with exit code 1 on XCode 4.3

    - by Doz
    I have XCode 4.3 and I am getting this frustrating xml-lib related error. I have a feeling its because of the fact that 4.3 is not using /Developer folder but instead the /Applications/XCode.app/... The error message is below: Libtool /Users/dkatz/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/RWEngines-ewchevfhokeivnffrputdqapsyxu/Build/Products/Release-iphonesimulator/RWEngines.framework/Versions/A/RWEngines normal i386 cd /Users/dkatz/Sites/xCode/RWA/RWEngines setenv MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET 10.6 setenv PATH "/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin:/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin" /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/libtool -static -arch_only i386 -syslibroot /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator5.0.sdk -L/Users/dkatz/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/RWEngines-ewchevfhokeivnffrputdqapsyxu/Build/Products/Release-iphonesimulator -filelist /Users/dkatz/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/RWEngines-ewchevfhokeivnffrputdqapsyxu/Build/Intermediates/RWEngines.build/Release-iphonesimulator/RWEngines.build/Objects-normal/i386/RWEngines.LinkFileList -ObjC -Xlinker -no_implicit_dylibs -D__IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED=50000 -framework UIKit /Users/dkatz/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/RWEngines-ewchevfhokeivnffrputdqapsyxu/Build/Products/Release-iphonesimulator/libCorePlot-CocoaTouch.a -framework SenTestingKit -framework QuartzCore -framework Foundation -framework RWCommon -o /Users/dkatz/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/RWEngines-ewchevfhokeivnffrputdqapsyxu/Build/Products/Release-iphonesimulator/RWEngines.framework/Versions/A/RWEngines And the actual error: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/libtool failed with exit code 1 Thanks guys!

  • how do i scroll through 100 photos in UIScrollView in IPhone

    - by mwangima
    I'm trying to scroll through images being downloaded from a users online album (like in the facebook iphone app) since i can't load all images into memory, i'm loading 3 at a time (prev,current & next). then removing image(prev-1) & image (next +1) from the uiscroller subviews. my logic works fine in the simulator but fails in the device with this error: [CALayer retain]: message sent to deallocated instance what could be the problem below is my code sample - (void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)_scrollView { pageControlIsChangingPage = NO; CGFloat pageWidth = _scrollView.frame.size.width; int page = floor((_scrollView.contentOffset.x - pageWidth / 2) / pageWidth) + 1; if (page1 && page<=(pageControl.numberOfPages-3)) { [self removeThisView:(page-2)]; [self removeThisView:(page+2)]; } if(page0) { NSLog(@"<< PREVIOUS"); [self showPhoto:(page-1)]; } [self showPhoto:page]; if(page<(pageControl.numberOfPages-1)) { //NSLog(@"NEXT "); [self showPhoto:page+1]; NSLog(@"FINISHED LOADING NEXT "); } } -(void) showPhoto:(NSInteger)index { CGFloat cx = scrollView.frame.size.width*index; CGFloat cy = 40; CGRect rect=CGRectMake( 0, 0,320, 480); rect.origin.x = cx; rect.origin.y = cy; AsyncImageView* asyncImage = [[AsyncImageView alloc] initWithFrame:rect]; asyncImage.tag = 999; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:[pics objectAtIndex:index]]; [asyncImage loadImageFromURL:url place:CGRectMake(150, 190, 30, 30) member:memberid isSlide:@"Yes" picId:[picsIds objectAtIndex:index]]; [scrollView addSubview:asyncImage]; [asyncImage release]; } -(void) removeThisView:(NSInteger)index { if(index<[[scrollView subviews] count] && [[scrollView subviews] objectAtIndex:index]!=nil){ if ([[[scrollView subviews] objectAtIndex:index] isKindOfClass:[AsyncImageView class]] || [[[scrollView subviews] objectAtIndex:index] isKindOfClass:[UIImageView class]]) { [[[scrollView subviews] objectAtIndex:index] removeFromSuperview]; } } } For the record it works OK in the simulator, but not the iphone device itself. any ideas will be appreciated. cheers, fred.

  • Common NSNotification mistakes?

    - by Ben Packard
    A simplification... A building has an array of apartment objects. Each apartment has a single currentTenant. These tenants are of type Person. Note that currentTenant doesn't have a reference to the apartment, so can't send information back up the chain. When a tenant has a plumbing issue he raises an NSNotification: [nc postNotificationName:@"PlumbingIssue" object:self]; Each Apartment observes notifications ONLY FROM it's own current tenant (this is set up when the apartment is built, before there is a current tenant): [nc addObserver:self selector:@selector(alertBuildingManager:) name:@"PlumbingIssue" object:[self currentTenant]; When the apartment receives a notification from it's own currentTenant, it sends it's own notification, "PlumberRequired", along with the apartment number and the currentTenant in an NSDictionary. Apartment observes these notifications, which it will take from any apartment (or other object): [nc addObserver:self selector:@selector(callPlumber) name:@"PlumberRequired" object:nil]; Is there something I could be getting fundamentally wrong here? What's happening is that the apartment is receiving notifications from any and all currentTenants, rather than jus it's own. Sorry that the actual code is a bit too unwieldy to post. Was just wondering if there's a gap in my understanding about observing notifications from a particular sender?

  • UIButton only responds in a small area

    - by Tom Irving
    I'm trying to add a UIButton to a UIView, but am having some trouble with getting it to respond to touches. I have a method which returns UIButtons after I provide it with a tag: - (UIButton*)niceSizeButtonWithTag:(int)tag { UIButton * aButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [aButton setTag:tag]; [aButton addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonWasTapped:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; CGRect newFrame = aButton.frame; newFrame.size.width = 44; newFrame.size.height = 44; [aButton setFrame:newFrame]; return aButton; } As you can see I'm creating a new button and increasing the size. I use this in the following way: UIButton * anotherButton = [self niceSizeButtonWithTag:1]; [anotherButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"image" withExtension:@"png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [anotherButton setCenter:CGPointMake(middleOfView)]; [aView addSubview:anotherButton]; I create a lot of buttons like this, hence the reason for the method. The buttons are always created and added to the subview perfectly. I can see the image and they're in the correct position. The problem is that they only respond to touches in a tiny strip. In this attached image, The yellow shows the whole frame of the button, The red shows the area that will respond to touches. The grey shows a section of the view the button is added to. If anyone could shed some light on why this is happening, it would be really useful.

  • iPhone: Use a view as a transparent overlay with closing button

    - by axooh
    I've got a map with three bar buttons for different markers to show up in the map. If I click on a bar button, the specific markers are shown in the map, which already works great. Now I would like to show a transparent overlay (popup window) with the description of the markers after I clicked on a bar button with a button to close the overlay again and show the markers (which are set in the background). The function of the bar button: - (IBAction)routeTwo:(id)sender { // The code for the overlay // ... // remove any annotations that exist [map removeAnnotations:map.annotations]; // Add any annotations which belongs to route 2 [map addAnnotation:[self.mapAnnotations objectAtIndex:2]]; [map addAnnotation:[self.mapAnnotations objectAtIndex:3]]; [map addAnnotation:[self.mapAnnotations objectAtIndex:4]]; [map addAnnotation:[self.mapAnnotations objectAtIndex:5]]; } I tried the following possibilities: 1. Using a modal view controller RouteDescriptionViewController *routeDescriptionView = [[RouteDescriptionViewController alloc] init]; [self presentModalViewController:routeDescriptionView animated:YES]; [routeDescriptionView release]; Works great, but the problem is: The map view in the background is not visible anymore (configuring alpha values of the modal view doesn't change anything). 2. Add RouteDescriptionView as a subview RouteDescriptionViewController *routeDescriptionView = [[RouteDescriptionViewController alloc] init]; [self.view addSubview:routeDescriptionView.view]; [routeDescriptionView release]; Works great as well, but the problem here is: I can't configure a close button on the subview to close/remove the subview (RouteDescriptionView). 3. Using UIAlertView Would work as expected, but the UIAlert is not really customizable and therefore not suitable for my needs. Any ideas how to achieve this?

  • Long polling with NSURLConnection

    - by pix0r
    I'm working on an iPhone application which will use long-polling to send event notifications from the server to the client over HTTP. After opening a connection on the server I'm sending small bits of JSON that represent events, as they occur. I am finding that -[NSURLConnectionDelegate connection:didReceiveData] is not being called until after I close the connection, regardless of the cache settings I use when creating the NSURLRequest. I've verified that the server end is working as expected - the first JSON event will be sent immediately, and subsequent events will be sent over the wire as they occur. Is there a way to use NSURLConnection to receive these events as they occur, or will I need to instead drop down to the CFSocket API? I'm starting to work on integrating CocoaAsyncSocket, but would prefer to continue using NSURLConnection if possible as it fits much better with the rest of my REST/JSON-based web service structure.

  • iPhone checklist app

    - by Brodie4598
    I am trying to create a simple app that displays a list of items with check boxes next to each item, then give the user to simply check each box. Nothing (aside from the checkbox image switching) needs to happen when the check box is touched. Each checklist is a seperate NSDictionary contained in a single master NSDictionary. The checklist dictionary contains arrays for different sections of each checklist. At the top of the view, the user selects which set (dictionary) of checklists they want to open then I want that checklist to display underneath the picker once a "select checklist" button is pressed. Any ideas on the best way to get this done?

  • How to avoid piracy in iPhone apps by server side validation?

    - by prathumca
    As par my app requirement, there is a couple of scenarios that I need to handle. Scenario 1: To avoid piracy, I want to include some piece of code, whose job is sending both IMEI and Serial number of IPhone. Scenario 2: At server side, I've a database, which has a list of both IMEI and Serial No info. Here I wanna validate both IMEI and Serial numbers. If both are not matched then I can make sure that the app is pirated. Idea seems good. But I don't know how to handle these two scenarios in my app. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Core Data: Overkill for simple, static UITableView-based iPhone App?

    - by David Foster
    Hello! I have a rather simple iPhone app consisting of numerous views containing a single, grouped table view. These views are held together in navigation controllers which are grouped in a tab bar. Simple stuff. My table views do little more than list text (like "Dog", "Cat" and "Weasel") and this data is being served from a collection of plists. It's perhaps worth mentioning too that these tables are 'static' in the sense that their data is pre-determined and will only ever be amended—and if so, very rarely indeed—by the developer (in this case, moi). This rudimentary approach has reached its limits though, and I think I'm going to need something a bit more relational. I have worked a tad with Core Data in the past, but only with apps whose data is determined by user input. I have four closely related questions: Is Core Data overkill for an app consisting mainly of a selection of simple table views? Do you recommend using Core Data to manage data which is predetermine and extremely unlikely to ever change? Can one lock Core Data down so that its data can't change, thereby relinquishing my responsibility as the developer to handle the editing and saving of the managed object context? How do I go about giving Core Data my predetermined data, and in a format I know that it can work with? Thanks a bunch guys.

  • selecting a row by means of a button ... using didSelectRowAtIndexPath

    - by John Smith
    hey people , I have a question concerning a button I would like to create which selects my previous selected row. This is what I came up so far but since I'm new with the functionality and such I could definately use some pointers I created a toolbar with a button and behind this button is the following action. -(void)clickRow { selectedRow = [self.tableView indexPathForSelectedRow]; [self.tableView:[self tableView] didSelectRowAtIndexPath:selectedRow]; } in my didSelectRowAtIndexPath there is a rootViewController being pushed rvController = [RootViewController alloc] ...etc So what I would like is my function clickRow to select the row and push the new rootviewcontroller (which has the right info since I'm using a tree ). I tried something like this as well -(void)clickRow { NSDictionary *dictionary = [self.tableDataSource objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSArray *Children = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Children"]; rvController = [[RootViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"RootViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; rvController.CurrentLevel += 1; rvController.CurrentTitle = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Title"]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:rvController animated:YES]; rvController.tableDataSource = Children; [rvController release]; } The last function works a little but a little is not enough;) For instance if I press the middle row or any other it constantly selects the toprow. thnx all for those of you reading and trying to help
