• How do I use ffmpeg with live streaming from an IP camera

  My question is very basic because I am a newbie to all these technologies. I have an IP camera connected to my internal network. - "http://192.168.1.20/videostream.cgi?user=admin&pwd=" gives a live streaming view in Firefox or Internet Explorer. Now I want to record the live stream into a video. The parameters to be supplied are begin_time, end_time, format of video etc. How do I accomplish this? I appreciate any guidance. Thanks Murali

  Hello, Probably I'm doing something wrong but here it goes: I'm trying to create a database using subsonic.migrations in an OracleXE version 10.2.0.1.0. I have ODP v 10.2.0.2.20 installed. It is trying to create the schema table using this sql: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int NOT NULL CONSTRAINT DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version DEFAULT (0) ) Which doesn't work on oracle. The correct sql would be: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int DEFAULT (0), constraint DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version primary key (version) ) The funny thing is that since this is the very first sql executed by subsonic migrations, NOBODY EVER TESTED it on oracle.

  In .NET Compact Framework a device can have several IP Addresses I want to find one that is NOT coming from the Cellular connection. Goal is for WiFi or Ethernet connection. Is there a way to do this? Seems like State and Notification Broker would have a way to do this but didn't see a way.

• Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

  [Cross-Posting from ServerFault] I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on? • How to install WE8EBCDIC500 on Oracle XE?

  I need to make the "WE8EBCDIC500" character set available in an Oracle XE installation (on my desktop) to import a mainframe-generated file. Running SELECT value FROM v$nls_valid_values WHERE parameter='CHARACTERSET' does not show this character set to be installed and I get KUP-03006: error initializing handle for character set WE8EBCDIC500 when attempting to use it. How can this be done? Thanks.

• cPanel/WHM IP Ban - How to Unban IP

  We are using htaccess basic authentication on one of our sites. One of our clients tried accessing the site and failed logging in multiple times. Now when visiting our site they simply get a "Can't Display Webpage" error. I believe I've had this before and I believe there IP's got banned after so many failures. I'm not sure where to go in WHM/cPanel to unban them - appreciate any assistance!! Thanks Loren

• One google IP address is failing. Is there a way to force a switch to different one?

  The google ip address 74.125.53.100 is failing. I know no one would believe this so I did an online ping: As this image shows one of the IP addresses for Google is failing. But there are others. If I type them in then I can get to Google just fine. But when I try to search, Google reverts back to the broken IP. Is there any way for me to say "I want to do a search with one of the working IP addresses"?

• Saving an IP adddress to DB

  I want to save a user's IP address to my database just in case any legal issues come up and we need to track down who performed what action. Since I highly doubt I will ever actually need to use this data (well, maybe for counting unique hits or something) do you think I can just dump the REMOTE_ADDR into a field? If so, what should the length of that field be? 39 chars should fit an IPv6 address, no? I don't know if I'll ever get any of those, but just in case...

• Change IP where domain is pointing

  This is probably a very strange request. I need to programmaticaly (via code) change the IP where a domain name is pointing to. IE: xyz.com points to 100.100.100.100 setIP('xyz.com','100.100.100.100'); I know this [code] is practically impossible, however, what I need is to do this via domain host API etc or other possible ways you might think of. I'd be happy even if it weren't anything more then sending an email to the DNS owner/host. Do you know of anything the like or which might help? (nb: considered throwing this at ServerFault, but felt it more at home here ;) ) Cheers!

To keep things running as seamlessly and smoothly as possible, constantly evaluate priorities, mitigate risk, and be ready for whatever might happen -- because things do happen when there are 50,000 plus attendees, tens of thousands of devices, unexpected requirements, and a constant flow of up-to-the-minute information. Here's just some of what it takes to keep the conference going, network style: 100 Oracle network, voice, and desktop engineers; security, risk management, and other IT experts, who come in from 17 countries  1000+ network switches 300+ miles of copper and fiber 485 wireless access points 2,500 wired laptops 300 VoIP phones And just where are all these networks and devices deployed? This is what the team had to build and manage: Moscone North, South, and West, including: The keynote hall Oracle DEMOgrounds in the Exhibition Halls Hundreds of session rooms Connection Centers, Social Avenue, Lounges Registration The Howard Street Tent and Taylor Street Cafe tented venues Oracle Square (Union Square) Yerba Buena Gardens Masonic Auditorium Sessions and demos at 8 hotel venues That's a whole lot of networking going on. • Improved Performance on PeopleSoft Combined Benchmark using SPARC T4-4

  Oracle's SPARC T4-4 server running Oracle's PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 combined online and batch benchmark achieved a world record 18,000 concurrent users experiencing subsecond response time while executing a PeopleSoft Payroll batch job of 500,000 employees in 32.4 minutes. This result was obtained with a SPARC T4-4 server running Oracle Database 11g Release 2, a SPARC T4-4 server running PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 application server and a SPARC T4-2 server running Oracle WebLogic Server in the web tier. The SPARC T4-4 server running the application tier used Oracle Solaris Zones which provide a flexible, scalable and manageable virtualization environment. The average CPU utilization on the SPARC T4-2 server in the web tier was 17%, on the SPARC T4-4 server in the application tier it was 59%, and on the SPARC T4-4 server in the database tier was 47% (online and batch) leaving significant headroom for additional processing across the three tiers. The SPARC T4-4 server used for the database tier hosted Oracle Database 11g Release 2 using Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) for database files management with I/O performance equivalent to raw devices. Performance Landscape Results are presented for the PeopleSoft HRMS Self-Service and Payroll combined benchmark. The new result with 128 streams shows significant improvement in the payroll batch processing time with little impact on the self-service component response time. The PeopleSoft HRSS benchmark kit is a Oracle standard benchmark kit run by all platform vendors to measure the performance. It's an OLTP benchmark where DB SQLs are moderately complex. The results are certified by Oracle and a white paper is published. PeopleSoft HR SS defines a business transaction as a series of HTML pages that guide a user through a particular scenario. Users are defined as corporate Employees, Managers and HR administrators. The benchmark consist of 14 scenarios which emulate users performing typical HCM transactions such as viewing paycheck, promoting and hiring employees, updating employee profile and other typical HCM application transactions. All these transactions are well-defined in the PeopleSoft HR Self-Service 9.1 benchmark kit. This benchmark metric is the weighted average response search/save time for all the transactions. The PeopleSoft 9.1 Payroll (North America) benchmark demonstrates system performance for a range of processing volumes in a specific configuration. This workload represents large batch runs typical of a ERP environment during a mass update. The benchmark measures five application business process run times for a database representing large organization. They are Paysheet Creation, Payroll Calculation, Payroll Confirmation, Print Advice forms, and Create Direct Deposit File. The benchmark metric is the cumulative elapsed time taken to complete the Paysheet Creation, Payroll Calculation and Payroll Confirmation business application processes. The benchmark metrics are taken for each respective benchmark while running simultaneously on the same database back-end. Specifically, the payroll batch processes are started when the online workload reaches steady state (the maximum number of online users) and overlap with online transactions for the duration of the steady state. Key Points and Best Practices Two PeopleSoft Domain sets with 200 application servers each on a SPARC T4-4 server were hosted in 2 separate Oracle Solaris Zones to demonstrate consolidation of multiple application servers, ease of administration and performance tuning. Each Oracle Solaris Zone was bound to a separate processor set, each containing 15 cores (total 120 threads). The default set (1 core from first and third processor socket, total 16 threads) was used for network and disk interrupt handling. This was done to improve performance by reducing memory access latency by using the physical memory closest to the processors and offload I/O interrupt handling to default set threads, freeing up cpu resources for Application Servers threads and balancing application workload across 240 threads. A total of 128 PeopleSoft streams server processes where used on the database node to complete payroll batch job of 500,000 employees in 32.4 minutes. • Using Open MQ as an Oracle CEP Event Source

  I helped an Oracle CEP customer recently who wanted to use Open MQ has an event source for their Oracle CEP application.  In this case, the Oracle CEP application was being used to provide monitoring for an electronic commerce website, however, the steps for configuring Open MQ are entirely independent of the application logic. I thought I would list the configuration steps in a blog post in case they might help others in the future. Note that although the Oracle CEP documentation states that only WebLogic and Tibco JMS are "officially" supported, any JMS implementation that provides a Java client should work with Oracle CEP. The first step is to add an adapter to the application's EPN. This can be done in the usual way, using the Eclipse IDE. The end result is something like the following bit of configuration in the application's Spring application context. Note that the provider attribute value of 'jms-inbound' specifies that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter is being used. <wlevs:adapter id="helloworldAdapter" provider="jms-inbound"> </wlevs:adapter>   Next, configure the inbound adapter so that it can connect to Open MQ in the Oracle CEP configuration file (config.xml). The snippet below provides an example of what this configuration should look like. The exact values specified for jndi-provider-url, jndi-factory, connection-jndi-name, destination-jndi-name elements will depend on your Open MQ configuration.  For example , if the name of your Open MQ topic destination is 'ElectronicCommerceTopic', then you would specify that as the destination-jndi-name.  The name of your Open MQ connection factory goes in the connection-jndi-name element. In my simple example, I also specify in event-type element so that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter will attempt to automatically convert incoming messages to events of type HelloWorldEvent. In a more complex application, one would configure a custom converter on the JMS adapter to convert from messages to events.  The Oracle CEP 11.1.3 documentation describes how to do this.   <jms-adapter> <name>helloworldAdapter</name> <event-type>HelloWorldEvent</event-type> <jndi-provider-url>file:///C:/Temp</jndi-provider-url> <jndi-factory>com.sun.jndi.fscontext.RefFSContextFactory</jndi-factory> <connection-jndi-name>YourJMSConnectionFactoryName</connection-jndi-name> <destination-jndi-name>YourJMSDestinationName</destination-jndi-name> </jms-adapter>   Finally, one needs to package the client-side Open MQ jars so that the classes that they contain are available to the Oracle CEP runtime. The recommended way for doing this in the Oracle CEP 11.1.3 release is to package the classes as a library module or simply place them in the application bundle.  The advantage of deploying the classes as a library module is that they are available to any application that wants to connect to Open MQ. In my case, I packaged the classes in my application bundle. A best practice when you want to include additional jars in your application bundle is to create a 'lib' directory in your Eclipse project and then copy the required jars into that directory.  Then, use the support that Eclipse provides to add the jars to the bundle classpath (which makes the classes part of your application in the same way that regular application classes are), and export all of the classes from your application bundle so that they are available to the Oracle CEP server runtime.  The screenshot below Illustrates how this is done in Eclipse.  The bundle classpath contains two Open MQ jars and all packages in the jars are exported.     Finally, import the javax.jms and javax.naming packages into the application module as these are needed by the Open MQ classes. The screenshot below shows the complete list of package imports for my sample application.       Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to build and deploy your application and begin receiving inbound messages from Open MQ. • Cannot access Application configured on local IIS 7 using IP/machine name

  I have a windows 7 machine 64 bit and IIS 7 I have a default website on the IIS.Its binding is {IP: All Unassigned , Port:80 , Host Name : blank} I have added a new asp.net application to that website,mapped physical path, have set the virtual path as "MyWebApp". Application pool for "MyWebApp" is "DefaultAppPool" {.Net Framework: 4.0 ; Managed Pipeline Mode: Classic} The problem I am facing is I can access the website using http://localhost, http://IP.IP.IP.IP and http://MyMachineName But I can not access the Application other than using http://localhost/MyWebApp What should I do if I want to access the webapp using http://MyMachineName/MyWebApp OR http://IP.IP.IP.IP/MyWebApp Please note : I have already created an inbound rule to allow all HTTP traffic for port 80 in firewall settings.

The mailserver shares the same IP address, so my typical DNS config is: www.mydomain.com A -> IP mydomain.com A -> IP ftp.mydomain.com A -> IP mail.mydomain.com A -> IP mydomain.com MX(10) -> IP I read some Q&A on this site where they suggest to add PTR record mainly for mailserver. I would like to add PTR record to my domain, I have got two questions: 1) can PTR record be added even if the hosting/mailserver are on a shared IP address? Or do I need a dedicated IP. 2) How do I setup PTR record, I mean does it look like A record: mydomain.com (PTR) -> myip

• Sun Fire X4800 M2 Posts World Record x86 SPECjEnterprise2010 Result

  Oracle's Sun Fire X4800 M2 using the Intel Xeon E7-8870 processor and Sun Fire X4470 M2 using the Intel Xeon E7-4870 processor, produced a world record single application server SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark result of 27,150.05 SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS. The Sun Fire X4800 M2 server ran the application tier and the Sun Fire X4470 M2 server was used for the database tier. The Sun Fire X4800 M2 server demonstrated 63% better performance compared to IBM P780 server result of 16,646.34 SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS.
