  • Bash scripting know the result of a command.

    Hi, I am writing a bash script to run an integration test of a tool I am writing. Basically I run the application with a set of inputs and compare the results with expected values using the diff command line tool. It's working, but I would like to enhance it by knowing the result of the diff command and print "SUCCESS" or "FAIL" depending on the result of the diff. How can I do it?

This is the first time I'm making any .lib files.

  • Batch copy gives errors, xcopy works fine

    I am writing a general file backup program. It searches the drive for files matching a set of types and then writes them to a folder on the desktop. I wrote it using xcopy on Windows XP but upon learning that xcopy was deprecated in favor of robocopy in Vista and newer, still wanting to maintain compatibility I decided to switch to the non-deprecated copy. This is where the problems begin. I'm trying to fix the copy routine. I thought I had everything sorted out, but it doesn't copy anything. My output is zero files copied for every iteration. Original Code using xcopy: for /r %%a in (*.bmp *.dds *.gif *.jpg *.jpeg *.png *.psd *.pspimage *.tga *.thm *.tif *.tiff) do ( echo f | xcopy "%%a" "%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\Desktop\LDR\Images\Bitmap\%%~nxa" /q /y /g /c ) Revised (broken) Code using copy: for /r %%a in (*.bmp *.dds *.gif *.jpg *.jpeg *.png *.psd *.pspimage *.tga *.thm *.tif *.tiff) do ( copy "%%a" "%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\Desktop\LDR\Images\Bitmap\%%~nxa" /d /y /z ) Output: The system cannot find the path specified. 0 files copied. I know that it seems everyone uses either xcopy or robocopy but can anyone help with copy? Note: I'm using Batch to keep it very lightweight and command-line accessible.

The canvas is inside a scrollviewer, the following image shows different positions of the canvas, however the lines should look the same? Hell, how is this possible? The code above is the only code I've written by hand and it's the only content in the canvas. Anyone knows why this happens and how to prevent this? Thank you very much! These line segments would be determined from an algorithm that would detected and save each segments endpoints.     I am using JetBrains dotTrace, I've profiled my app which is entirely CPU bound. But the results as you walk down the tree don't sum to the level above in the tree, I only see method calls not the body lines of the node in questions method. Is it possible to profile the source code line by line. i.e for one node: SimulatePair() 99.04% --nextUniform() 30.12% --IDCF() 24.08% So the method calls nextUniform + IDCF use 54% of the time in SimulatePair (or 54% total execution time I'm not sure how to read this) regardless what is happening the other 46% of SimulatePair I need some detail on a line by line basis. Any help or alternative tools is much appreciated. Thanks

  • Cron won't use msmtp to send emails in case of failed cronjob

    I'm trying to configure a machine so that it will send me an email if one of the cronjobs output something in case of an error. I'm using Debian Wheezy. Cron is working normally (without the email functionality). msmtp is installed and configured. Have already symlinked /usr/{bin|sbin}/sendmail to /usr/bin/msmtp. I can send email by using: echo "test" | mail -s "subject" [email protected] or by executing: echo "test" | /usr/sbin/sendmail Without the symlink (/usr/sbin/sendmail) cron will tell me that: (CRON) info (No MTA installed, discarding output) With the symlinks I get: (root) MAIL (mailed 1 byte of output; but got status 0x004e, #012) Can you suggest how to config the cron/msmtp pair? Thanks! EDIT: Note: I've written "msmtpd" by mistake. Its not a daemon but rather an SMTP client named just "msmtp" (without the "d" ending). It is executed on demand and it is not running in the background all the time. So it looks like that the msmtp client is working properly. It has to be something in the cron/msmtp integration, but I have no clue what that thing might be. Can you help me?
