  • django shopping cart as a beginner

    Hi, i'm quite new to django and trying to add a shopping cart to a simple webshop. What I need is a simple cart that can be filled and presents its content, which is then sent to the vendor via email. So Satchmo might be too big for this task. Therefore i chose django-cart (http://code.google.com/p/django-cart/) which causes some problems now. 1. Is django-cart the right thing? Or are there any better approaches to this task? 2. As I am a beginner even django-cart makes me struggle. I used the view and the template of the django-cart-website, but writing a form that can be used to add products to the cart took me hours. I probably need help in understanding the general layout of a shopping cart and its integration into a website. 3. Two more specific questions: Is it possible to dynamically populate a formfield in a template (e.g. with {{ object.id }})? Is django-cart able to change (update) the contents of a cart?   • How to use JQUERY to filter table rows dynamically using multiple form inputs

    I'm displaying a table with multiple rows and columns. I'm using a JQUERY plugin called uiTableFilter which uses a text field input and filters (shows/hides) the table rows based on the input you provide. All you do is specify a column you want to filter on, and it will display only rows that have the text field input in that column. Simple and works fine. I want to add a SECOND text input field that will help me narrow the results down even further. So, for instance if I had a PETS table and one column was petType and one was petColor -- I could type in CAT into the first text field, to show ALL cats, and then in the 2nd text field, I could type black, and the resulting table would display only rows where BLACK CATS were found. Basically, a subset. Here is the JQUERY I'm using: $("#typeFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( theTable, this.value, "petType" ); } }) // end typefilter $("#colorFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( newTable, this.value, "petColor" ); } }) // end colorfilter Problem is, I can use one filter, and it will display the correct subset of table rows, but when I provide input for the other filter, it doesn't seem to recognize the visible table rows that are remaining from the previous column, but instead it appears that it does an entirely new filtering of the original table. If 10 rows are returned after applying one filter, the 2nd filter should only apply to THOSE 10 rows. I've tried LIVE and BIND, but not working. Can anyone shed some light on where I'm going wrong?   • Best way to change Satchmo checkout page fields?

    For a Satchmo project we have to change the fields a customer has to fill out during checkout. Specifically, we have to: Add a 'middle name' field Replace the bill and delivery addressee with separate first, middle and last name fields Replace the two address lines with street, number and number extension These fields are expected by an upstream web service, so we need to store this data separately. What's the best way to achieve this with minimal changes in the rest of Satchmo? We prefer a solution in which we do not have to change the Satchmo code itself, but if required we can fork it.

    Hi, I'm working on a servlet that makes a connection to a database gets the information of one of the tables ans sends this information to a jsp file. This file will print on the brower the information table, adding radio buttons that allows us to choose one of the rows. When I set value = ${item.title} and title is, for example "The bodyguard", in the servlet the information I can retrieve is just "The". It looks like it sends the characters located before the first white space of the string. How could I get the whole string? Thanks

    Hi Everyone, I have a simple form to enter details of a new case (kase), it's working well and clicking submit stores the information and takes the user to the show.html.erb page. However, I wanted to move part of the form to the sidebar - to make things a little easier to see and use for the user, however, when I moved the section to the sidebar - anything entered during either a creation or edit within those sidebar fields is ignored.   • Editing a labels text value through JavaScript in VB ASP.NET

    I have a simple form containing two text boxes, I am attempting to apply some validation to the first text box using JavaScript. This is the first time I have attempted this and am having some trouble. I have a label beside the text box stating an error, this labels visibility property is set to False. I wish the labels visibility to turn true if the text box is empty when the user loses focus. For this I have used the onBlur option within the tags of the text box. It then calls the JavaScript function and should set the label to Visible but it does not. I have tested to see if it is entering the function by using an alert instead and that works. The problem seems to be trying to alter the visibility property of the label. Here is the portion of my code: The JavaScript: function myRegEx(frm) { if ( boxUsername.value == "" ) { invalidUser.visible = True; return false; } } The form: <asp:TextBox onblur="return myRegEx(this)" id="boxUsername" runat="server" Width="200px"></asp:TextBox> <asp:Label id="invalidUser" runat="server" visible="False" forecolor="Red" text="* Username must be alphanumeric with no special characters"></asp:Label> Any help would be brilliant.

The T-SQL code does exactly what I want, which is to make a single result based on the results of a query, which will then be used in another query. However, I can't figure out how the SELECT @column_list =... statement is putting multiple values into a single string of characters by being inside a SELECT statement. Without the assignment to @column_list, the SELECT statement would simply return multiple rows. How is it that by having the variable within the SELECT statement that the results get "flattened" down into one value? How should I read this T-SQL to properly understand what's going on?

  • Select a subset of foreign key elements in inlineformset_factory in Django

    Hello, I have a model with two foreign keys: class Model1(models.Model): model_a = models.ForeignKey(ModelA) model_b = models.ForeignKey(ModelB) value = models.IntegerField() Then, I create an inline formset class, like so: an_inline_formset = inlineformset_factory(ModelA, Model1, fk_name="model_a") and then instantiate it, like so: a_formset = an_inline_formset(request.POST, instance=model_A_object) Once this formset gets rendered in a template/page, there is ChoiceField associated with the model_b field. The problem I'm having is that the elements in the resulting drop down menu include all of the elements found in ModelB table. I need to select a subset of those based on some criteria from ModelB. At the same time, I need to keep the reference to the instance of model_A_object when instantiating inlineformset_factory and, therefore, I can't just use this example. Any suggestions?

    I have an application which can make use of plugins which are loaded at runtime using dlopen. Each of the plugins defines a function toretrieve the plugin information which is defined using a common structure. Something like that: struct plugin { char *name; char *app_version; int app_verion_id; char *plugin_version; int plugin_version_id; /* ... */ }; struct plugin p = { "sample plugin",APP_VERION,APP_VERSION_ID,"1.2.3",10203 }; struct plugin *get_plugin() { return &p; } This works well and plugins can be loaded. Now i want to build a small tool to read these properties without linking the whole application. For doing that I have some code like this: void *handle; struct plugin *plugin; struct plugin *(get_plugin*)(); handle = dlopen(filename, RTLD_LAZY); if (!handle) { /*...return; ...*/ } get_plugin = dlym(handle, "get_plugin"); if (!get_plugin) { /*...return; ...*/ } plugin = get_plugin(); printf("Plugin: %s\n", plugin->name); This works nice for simple plugins. The issue is that many plugins reference further symbols from the application, which are resolved even though RTLD_LAZY was set. (like global variables from the application which are used to initialize plugin-global things) So the dlopen() call fails with an error like fatal: relocation error: file sample_plugin.so: symbol application_some_symbol: referenced symbol not found. As I just want to have access to the single simple structure I was wondering how I can prevent the linker from doing that much of his work.

  • ASP.NET dynamically reassign controls in the control tree

    Let's say I have a custom control that looks like this <cc:MyControl runat="server" ID="myc" LinkControlID="NewParent" /> and, on the same page: <asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="NewParent" /> What I would like to do is, from MyControl, change NewParent's parent so that it would be part of MyControl's Controls collection. When I try to do this, from OnInit, I get: The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases. Which makes sense, but is there a way around this? I'm OK if NewParent remains the child of the Page as long as from MyControl I can somehow redirect the rendering to MyControl's control. Can this be done? Thanks. EDIT: To clarify here's a mockup of MyControl: public class MyControl : Panel { protected override void OnInit(System.EventArgs e) { base.OnInit(e); if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(LinkControlID)) { Control link = Parent.FindControl(LinkControlID); if (link != null) { Controls.Add(link); } } } public string LinkControlID { get; set; } } This assumes that MyControl and LinkControlID are placed on the same level in the tree hierarchy, which is OK in my case.

    Hi, QUESTION: In .NET 3.5 WinForms apps, how do I access/call methods in UI thread from a separate thread, without passing a delegate? EXAMPLE: Say I have some code I want to run both (a) manually when the user clicks a button, and (b) periodically called by a process which is running in a separate non-mainUI thread but without passing a delegate. [Simplistically I'm thinking that the class that has this method is already been constructed, and the main UI thread has a handle to it, therefore if the process running in the separate thread could just get a handle to it from the main-UI thread it could call it. Hopefully this is not a flawed concept] BACKGROUND: I'm actually after a way to do the above for the case where my separate process thread is actually a job I schedule using quartz.net. The way the scheduler works I can't seem to actually pass in a delegate. There is a way to pass JobDetails, however it only seems to caters for things like string, int, etc. Hence what I'm after is a way to access the MainForm class for example, to call a method on it, from within the quartz.net job which runs in a separate thread.     I'm using bxcarousel to show a bunch of images. Each image has a tooltip, which I display using qtip. This code works if the editable=True but if i want to hide it it doesnt change the value of reference. how can i fix that?

  • problems with build params for accepts_nested_attributes_for

    I'm trying to add the user_id to a nested attribute that gets built by a parent controller but it doesn't seem to have the desired effect? Ie. I have a model called Place.rb which accepts_nested_attributes_for :reviews The nested attribute works fine and I build it inside the Places controller like so... @review = @place.reviews.build(:user_id => current_user.id) I was previously adding the user thru the form, but would like to do it thru the controller so that it only adds the user_id on creation, as it might get updated by someone else and i don't want the update changing the user_id... old way which works: <%= e.label :content, "Review" %><br /> <%= e.text_area :content, :rows => 20, :class => 'jquery_ckeditor' %><br /> <%= e.hidden_field :user_id, :value => current_user.id %> but thru the controller the build method with options has no effect? Any ideas? Can I not do this thru the build?

    I have a email form for my website but here is the issue: when i receive an email, the subject line in my inbox shows whatever the user inputted as subject in the form. id like to override that so that whenever an email comes in. the subject in the email header is always "an inquiry from your website".   • C# How to Present Such Question?

    greetings! i have a C# game program that im developing. it uses sound samples and winsock. when i test run the game most of the audio works fine but from time to time if it is multiple samples being played sequentially the application form shakes a little bit and then goes back to its old position. how do i go about debugging this or present it to you folks in a manageable manner? im sure no one is going to want the whole app code in fear of virus attacks. please guide me.. thanking you. EDIT: i have not been able to pin down any code section that produces this result. it just does and i cannot explain it. EDIT: no the x/y position are not changing. the window like shakes around a few pixels and then goes back to the position were it was before the shake.
