  • as3 tracking number value of variables

    - by Wade D Ouellet
    Hi, I have a bunch an as3 game going. In my game when newCrag hits egg_mc the score gets added. // Add the score var newScore:score_mc; newScore = new score_mc(); addChild(newScore); newScore.x = 20; newScore.y = 20; newScore.score_txt.text='0/15'; var score:Number=0; function getEggs(event:Event):void { if(event.target.hitTestObject(MovieClip(root).newCrag) && event.target is egg_mc) { sndEgg.play(); if(event.target.stage) { event.target.parent.removeChild(event.target); } // Increase score score++; newScore.score_txt.text = "" + score + '/15'; } } I am trying to refer to the number value of the score using if statements. I need to change the speed variables based off the number that is inside the score box. var speed:Number if(score > 10 || score == 10) { speed=20; trace("speed3"); } else if(score > 5 || score == 5 && score < 10) { speed=18; trace("speed2"); } else { speed=14; trace("speed1"); } However, this part of the code is not working. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Wade

  • IB not responding to UIImageView moving

    - by Rudiger
    This an incredibly annoying bug. I had a imageView and 2 Labels in a customCell nib. I changed the locations of all of them in the nib and the labels moved, view didn't. I've cleaned my targets, deleted everything relating to it the library, deleted the cell completely, reset the simulator, built it on a different target (3.1.2) and it still compiles the image in the same stupid spot. Can anyone help this is nuts. Sorry for being blunt but completely frustrated. Edit: I have deleted the nib and created it over again by hand, but with the same names. Doesn't fix it. I've checked to see if im moving it somewhere in the code and no dice.

  • In Cocoa, why won't a textfield be shown until after the IBAction is completely executed?

    - by Nano8Blazex
    I have an IBAction with some simple code inside: -(IBAction)change:(id)sender { [textfield setHidden:NO]; [self dolengthyaction]; } 'textfield' is an NSTextField in a nib file, and -'dolengthyaction' is a function that takes about a minute to finish executing. My question is: Why isn't the textfield shown until AFTER "dolengthyaction" is done executing? I want it to be revealed before the dolengthyaction starts taking place. Is this an inherent problem or is there something wrong with my code? (or in another part of my code?) I'm still not very good at programming so I apologize if I worded something badly and formatted something wrong.

  • JWPlayer plays videos at 3x speed on the first run, then works fine in subsequent runs on the same p

    - by Josiah Kiehl
    Go here: http://nano.materials.drexel.edu/research/videolibrary For some bizarre reason, the videos will play at 3x speed on the first run through, but then will play at normal speed each subsequent play. This doesn't happen all the time, and it's not always the same video(s) that do it. I'm utterly baffled. I've reconverted the videos from m4p to flv (using BitComet's converter) several times, double checking the settings each time through with no change to the behavior. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

  • Advice needed: What tech expertise do I need to accomplish my goal?

    - by quaternion
    I have a business plan & money to hire a developer - the essentials involve simple online games for children (played via traditional computer over the internet) such that their scores are uploaded to a database that can be viewed via a nice portal. What I don't know is: what technologies I would want my developer to know (the only somewhat unusual requirement I have is that the games have relatively accurate timing of keypresses/mouse presses) how much I should expect to pay (in general, what is the appropriate range) how many hours a program of the complexity of a simple tower defense -type game should take to develop (to be clear, the idea is not to implement TD, but rather other games of similar complexity) whether I should go with capable acquaintances, some online kind of online web-dev bidding site, or just try to find a capable undergraduate at the local university who I can wow with his/her first big paycheck, how I should communicate the software's specifications to my hired developer... Is there a standard I should be using? whether I should hire a webdev consultant for a few hours to help me answer these questions, instead of asking stackoverflow Thanks for any advice!

  • reference symbols on the main timeline

    - by vasion
    this is one of those upsurdly basic questions for which google does not work. I have usually dispatched events from my classes and dealt with the user interface in the document class. But now i want to separate all the UI in a separate class, accessible by other classes. I have added it as a child to the main/document class, but how do i reference the main class without going through parent.parent shananigans? edit. one more thing i remembered. Some of my UI elements are not programatically added.

  • Can I print an HTMLLoader (pdf) in Adobe Air?

    - by Stephano
    I'm using AlivePDF to create a PDF file, then save it to the desktop. I can then use an HTMLLoader to display my lovely PDF file. Now, the print button in Adobe Reader works fine. However, there will be young children using the app, so I'd like to have a big "Print" button right above it. I figured I could just start up a print job and feed it my HTMLLoader. Am I doing something wrong here, cause I can't seem to get any output? note: variable "stuff" below is my HTMLLoader. I also have access to the PDF file if that comes in handy. private function print():void { var myPrintJob:PrintJob=new PrintJob(); var result:Boolean=myPrintJob.start(); if (result && stuff != null) { var rect:Rectangle=new Rectangle(0, 0, 2550, 3300); var opt:PrintJobOptions=new PrintJobOptions(true); myPrintJob.addPage(stuff, rect, opt); myPrintJob.send(); } else { //User does not have printer or user canceled print action } }

Here's my code: stop(); slide_mc.stop(); slideback_mc.stop(); onMouseDown = function() { _root.slide_mc.play(); } onMouseUp = function() { _root.slideback_mc.play(); } I am new to AS2, I have tried looking but can't seem to find anything like this... • UIView, UIScrollView and UITextFields problem calling Method

    - by Jeff Groby
    I have a view with several embedded UITextFields, this UIView is subordinated to a UIScrollView in IB. Each text field is supposed to invoke a method called updateText defined in the viewcontroller implementation file when the user is done editing the field. For some reason, the method updateText never gets invoked. Anyone have any ideas how to go about fixing this? The method fired off just fine when the UIScrollView was not present in the project but the keyboard would cover the text fields during input, which was annoying. Now my textfields move up above the keyboard when it appears, but won't fire off the method when done editing. Here is my implementation file: #import "MileMarkerViewController.h" @implementation MileMarkerViewController @synthesize scrollView,milemarkerLogDate,milemarkerDesc,milemarkerOdobeg,milemarkerOdoend,milemarkerBusiness,milemarkerPersonal,milemarker; - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { if (self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]) { // Initialization code } return self; } - (BOOL) textFieldShouldReturn: (UITextField*) theTextField { return [theTextField resignFirstResponder]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver: self selector: @selector(keyboardWasShown:) name: UIKeyboardDidShowNotification object: nil]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver: self selector: @selector(keyboardWasHidden:) name: UIKeyboardDidHideNotification object: nil]; keyboardShown = NO; // 1 [scrollView setContentSize: CGSizeMake( 320, 480)]; // 2 } - (void)keyboardWasShown:(NSNotification*)aNotification { if (keyboardShown) return; NSDictionary* info = [aNotification userInfo]; // Get the size of the keyboard. CGRect textFieldRect = [activeField frame]; [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:textFieldRect animated:YES]; keyboardShown = YES; } - (void)keyboardWasHidden:(NSNotification*)aNotification { NSDictionary* info = [aNotification userInfo]; // Get the size of the keyboard. NSValue* aValue = [info objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey]; CGSize keyboardSize = [aValue CGRectValue].size; // Reset the height of the scroll view to its original value CGRect viewFrame = [scrollView frame]; viewFrame.size.height += keyboardSize.height; [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:CGRectMake(0, 0, 1, 1) animated:YES]; scrollView.frame = viewFrame; keyboardShown = NO; } - (void)textFieldDidBeginEditing:(UITextField *)textField { activeField = textField; } - (void)textFieldDidEndEditing:(UITextField *)textField { activeField = nil; } - (IBAction)updateText:(id) sender { NSLog(@"You just entered: %@",self.milemarkerLogDate.text); self.milemarker.logdate = self.milemarkerLogDate.text; self.milemarker.desc = self.milemarkerDesc.text; self.milemarker.odobeg = self.milemarkerOdobeg.text; self.milemarker.odoend = self.milemarkerOdoend.text; self.milemarker.business = self.milemarkerBusiness.text; self.milemarker.personal = self.milemarkerPersonal.text; NSLog(@"Original textfield is set to: %@",self.milemarker.logdate); [self.milemarker updateText]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. • How can I modify my code to line through the bezier control points?

    - by WillyCornbread
    HI all - I am using anchor points and control points to create a shape using curveTo. It's all working fine, but I cannot figure out how to get my lines to go through the center of the control points (blue dots) when the line is not straight. Here is my code for drawing the shape: // clear old line and draw new / begin fill var g:Graphics = graphics; g.clear(); g.lineStyle(2, 0, 1); g.beginFill(0x0099FF,.1); //move to starting anchor point var startX:Number = anchorPoints[0].x; var startY:Number = anchorPoints[0].y; g.moveTo(startX, startY); // Connect the dots var numAnchors:Number = anchorPoints.length; for (var i:Number=1; i<numAnchors; i++) { // curve to next anchor through control g.curveTo(controlPoints[i].x,controlPoints[i].y, anchorPoints[i].x, anchorPoints[i].y); } // Close the loop g.curveTo(controlPoints[0].x,controlPoints[0].y,startX,startY); And the shape I'm drawing for reference: How can I modify my code so that the lines go directly through the blue control points? Thanks in advance! b

  • Why does the textField not show up when I change the defaultTextFormat

    - by Leon
    I have an if/else statement which checks the length of my current title, and then is suppose to change the defaultTextFormat of the title textField and set the text. Currently the title will not show up now, no matter what character length the title is, any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong here? public function switchTitle(sentText):void { titleString = sentText; trace("---------"+"\n"); trace("Forumula testing"); trace("titleString = "+titleString); trace("titleString.length = "+titleString.length); trace("titleSize/10 = "+(titleSize/10)); trace("\n"); // If Title can fit: if (titleString.length < (titleSize/10)) { vTitle.defaultTextFormat = Fonts.VideoTitle; titleString = sentText; // If Title can't fit: } else if (titleString.length >= (titleSize/10)) { vTitle.defaultTextFormat = Fonts.VideoTitle2; titleString = sentText; } trace("---------"+"\n"); //vTitle.text = titleString; // <-- Original code, worked }

  • Actionscript: Why is drawRoundRectComplex() not documented?

    - by Chunk1978
    in studying actionscript 3's graphics class, i've come across the undocumented drawRoundRectComplex() method. it's a variant of drawRoundRect() but with 8 parameters, the final four being the diameter of each corner (x, y, width, height, top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right). //example var sp:Sprite = new Sprite(); sp.graphics.lineStyle(1, 0x000000); sp.graphics.drawRoundRectComplex(0, 0, 100, 50, 10, 20, 0, 10); addChild(sp); this seems to be a pretty useful method, so i'm just curious if anyone knows of any reasons why adobe chose not to document it?

  • AS3 using PrintJob to print a MovieClip

    - by Chris Waugh
    Hello, I am currently trying to create a function which will allow me to pass in a movieclip and print it. Here is the simplified version of the function: function printMovieClip(clip:MovieClip) { var printJob:PrintJob = new PrintJob(); var numPages:int = 0; var printY:int = 0; var printHeight:Number; if ( printJob.start() ) { /* Resize movie clip to fit within page width */ if (clip.width > printJob.pageWidth) { clip.width = printJob.pageWidth; clip.scaleY = clip.scaleX; } numPages = Math.ceil(clip.height / printJob.pageHeight); /* Add pages to print job */ for (var i:int = 0; i < numPages; i++) { printJob.addPage(clip, new Rectangle(0, printY, printJob.pageWidth, printJob.pageHeight)); printY += printJob.pageHeight; } /* Send print job to printer */ printJob.send(); /* Delete job from memory */ printJob = null; } } printMovieClip( testMC ); Unfortunately this is not working as expected i.e. printing the full width of the Movieclip and doing page breaks on the length. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Chris

  • Capturing USB Plug/Unplug events in Firemonkey

    - by radsdau
    [RAD Studio XE3 / C++] I have a FMX project running in Windows only at this stage, but I need to detect events when USB devices are connected and disconnected. I have a similar VCL app that can do this fine, but the Application-HookMainWindow is not exposed in FMX (only VCL). Is there an elegant way to handle this? Or do I have to hack some VCL stuff into my FMX app to make that work? I'd imagine I have to abstract it so I can support other platforms down the track. For the meantime though I need to get the Windows solution working. If the 'VCL hack' thing is required, how would I reference the vcl::Forms::Application from within my Fmx app? Cheers.
